Ryan Robertson is the only human male in the Ouachita clan of big cats, and navigating the world of shifters for four years has been tricky. Worth it though, if he can just convince the snarky cougar he’s had his eye on that he could make her happy. But the werecat of his dreams isn’t looking for a happily ever after, or even a happy for now. Not with a human anyway, and she’s made it abundantly clear. All he can do is pick up the pieces of his shattered heart and walk away with his head held high.

Layna Blackfoot has been the glue that held her clan together when the traditions of their people almost tore them apart. Now the laws have changed and she can finally tell Ryan the truth. He’s her intended mate, and if he will just fight for them, her cougar would give herself to him completely and forever. But before she can confess, he’s gone. Out the door like a true male, with only the briefest kiss beneath the mistletoe.

When a new danger threatens Layna and the clan, only Ryan can help her. But this Christmas, the human will require a little more from his kitty in return. He wants it all. Her past, her future, her everything. Layna’s the only thing on his Christmas list, and he’s been good for too long. If he’s lucky, they’ll be merrily mated by New Year’s Eve.

Was a bit fast for me!!! I needed more 😭 Layna was one of the characters that I was most excited for, and I just wish I got more of her and Ryan’s story!

I really think I could’ve read a full-length novel for this book, and I would’ve LOVED IT.

First time reading from his author and I’ll be looking forward to reading more. I don’t usually read in the middle os series and not knowing what’s really happening but I felt I did miss anything and each page was something that kept my attention.

Layna stubborn cougar and has a mouth of a sailor has kept a secret for 4 years, her mate and never saying a word.
Ryan has only loved Layna from afar, every time he tried to date her, she shut him down a few times. Now he’s moving to Memphis to start his life a new away from Layna, if he finds someone new he’ll lock up Layna for his memories. A week out secrets revealed and emotions are running high and enemies are identified. Her clan needs strength but will Layna give them the strength..... will Ryan find a women to love him back.... what will their enemies have in store for them.....

Quick little Paranormal Romances...emphasis on romances

Adult reads due to language and sexual scenes. I'd prefer more action and actual shifting, but these are OK for hot little reads. Each book in The series concentrates on different main characters, but the supporting characters show up in each book.

I actually prefer Feline shifters over Wolf shifters (afraid I must be in the minority here). I really like Lora Leigh's "Breeds" series--but will sometimes skip one now and again if they're not about the feline shifters. Sorry, Wolf fans. Those "Breeds" books are longer stories (which I prefer) and have continuing, convoluted plotlines. But if you're looking for quick reads that are primarily romances, then you'll likely enjoy these Ouachita Mt. Shifter books.

Best Christmas ever

Layna was a stubborn as a bull headed oxe . It took a selfless act by Ryan to get the stubborn cougar to see the error of her ways. I adore Ryan because he wasn’t afraid to constantly put his heart on the line for the woman he loved even though she kept stomping on it. Yet another great addition to the series. I liked how it set up about what danger lies ahead for the clan in the upcoming book. Who knew Cupid could be hot and sexy😁 Until next time y’all happy reading.

Cure and quick read

I'm a fan of books where there are different shifter animals than just wolves.Like the cats in this book.I'm glad that this book also while clearly a series can be read as a standalone story. Layna and Ryan are stubborn and i wish their backstory had more but it's a cute story.

A lion-hearted human male and his foul-mouthed panther mate...

What a great story. I was so annoyed by both Layna and Ryan with their denials, miscommunications, and heartbreaking refusals to be together that I seriously just wanted to slap them. Great writing, wonderful character development, and I'm so looking forward to meeting the rest of the clan.

Great book. Love that the characters continue from one book in the series to the next with new characters being added along the way. Love the way the story builds making you want to continue reading to find out what happens next. Can't wait to read the next book in this series to find out what happens next.

Loved it!

Another great addition to the series! Ryan and Layna's story was one heck of a roller-coaster. The warning of "there are very bad things coming "will have your heart pounding, while Ryans love for Layna will pull your heatstrings.

Ryan is a human in a shifter world and it seems no matter what he does he can’t get past that. Nor can the woman he loves see past it. Or can she…?

I loved Ryan!!

Layna kind of pissed me off but it turned out okay😂

This was a good read. I felt it was a little unfinished but I suspect that will be cleared up in the next book. I hope.

I like Layna and Ryan, they're both sweet characters.

Omg even with the MAN being a HUMAN, authors still find a way for a powerful lion shifter to be a victim and the only person and thing to save her is a man. I just can’t with 2025 already.

"Just like a male. Ryan was just like a cat. So afraid of commitment, they’d rather give up than try. Whatever his reasons were, he was a quitter."

Except he did try. For years

P. Jameson is one of my favorite authors and I love her work. I am a big fan of her Ouachtia Cats and the Dirt Track Dogs. She really surprised me with this book. I think this is one of her more heart felt books. She has the imagination to come up with some of the funniest quirky remarks. You can't help but laugh. The book was AWESOME!!! I truly loved how she started the book, and especially how she ended it. Not to mention how she use the rest of the characters in the book. If a book can make me laugh, cry, and fall in love then it is definitely worth my praise.

Ryan Robertson is a human and the brother of Bethany who is mater to a panther shifter (Renner). He has been with the Ouachita clan of the big cats 4 years now, and it has not been easy, but he gets to be near his sister Bethany and nephew Rhys. His biggest problem is he has the hots for one of the female shifters and he has no understanding of how to make her see that he can make her happy. She has shut him down at every try to get her to go out with him. No way does she want a mate much less a human. So Ryan can only take his broken heart and leave.

Danger looms on the clan and only Ryan can help, and he will require more from him kitty this Christmas. He wants her past, her present, and her future. Will he be lucky enough to get his Christmas wish?

Read the book and I promise you will not be disappointed.

I am kind of annoyed to the fact that readers complain about this series continuing and each book ends but leaves readers hanging. Uh, no it doesnt. Each book in this series is complete as far as the COUPLES are concerned. However, there IS a continuing story about the next couple as well as the conflict that happens. Thats not a cliffhanger in my opinion. Cliffhangers abruptly end and thats not what this was. Ok...now my real review! LOL.

Loved their story. I wanted to slap Layna upside the head and knock some sense into her. She's the one to blame with their issues and breaking Ryan's heart :(. Now, she did own up to it later. Kinda after the fact when Ryan already left. However, he should get smacked too because of how she found out he was leaving. He didnt tell her but her friends were talking about it and boom. In his defense she's pushed him away for 4 years. So, honestly he didnt think she'd care that much. My heart did break for Ryan cause he's so sweet and really sexy and awesome for a human! She just chose her clan and Magic over her own mate. Eek....not cool girl! Anyways, when she's hurt he does come running to save her. Things do work out and they are so cute together!

Ms. Jameson! What a tease! We have to wait til February for Owyn's story? LOL...how dare you! :)

2017 review.
I was disappointed in Layna’s behaviour the first half of this book.
I have always liked feisty Layna so far in this series but in her own story, Layna comes across as a big coward for the first half.
A big disappointment as I thought she would be all guns blazing.
SHE did not step up to claim her mate, so what did she think, Ryan was going to wait forever.
I also disliked Layna turning her cowardice onto Ryan's shoulders at one point but she did own up to it eventually and that was good.
Just not enough grovelling and apologising to Ryan.
Looks like trouble is coming to the clan.
2022 Reread through Kindle Unlimited.
I don’t even remember how I first read this series but the name rang a bell when I was browsing KU.
Seeing there are more books and my reviews were favourable, I have decided to start this series over from the beginning to refresh my memory.
Didn’t get the same vibe reading this story. Feels more as if it is about the impending problems the clan is facing.
Layna is in the wrong but she acts cold and uncaring towards Ryan leaving.
I also found it odd her giving out information on a fellow clan/employee over the phone to someone she doesn’t know.

Story is not finished but Ryan and Layla did HEA

I enjoy Ryan and Layla. I cried for both of them . I really love Ryan. This book is billed as being a standalone book but it really was not finished . I was loving this book until midway of the book. It stalled big time. Get a lot of filler. You have to wait until the next book to see what happens with
Felix and Shadow clan. For me I wish the authors would condense the sex scenes and add more romantic parts. I wouldn't mind more sex scenes IF THEY WERE MUCH SHORTER.

Ryan is in love with layna but when he keeps asking her out she keeps declining. So,all Ryan can do is leave the lodge and find his forever. Even though he could never find someone like layna. Lay a is a werecat who keeps declining Ryan because of her clans law. The night he's planning on leaving she finds out by his sister. Now that the law is lifted when she tries to tell him her feelings it's to late. When she decides to hunt him down something happens. Can these two finally become together? Need to read. Great story cannot wait to read the next installment.

These shifters have my heart!!

Ouachita Mountain cats love hard. Ryan has loved Layna from afar since he joined the clan with his sister. Layna knows Ryan is her mate but she will not go against Magic to mate him so she pushes him away repeatedly. Ryan eventually cannot take it anymore. He feels that the best way to get on with his life is to leave Ouachita and work away from Layna. Layna is hurt that she doesn't know Ryan is leaving and instead of showing him her heart she lashes out. Layna gets hurt while out on a run and begs for her family to call Ryan back. Her mate.

I liked this one. It was a little shorter than the others, but I liked that it was just a simple story for them. She made me so mad though! Everyone gave him shit because he left his intended, and he didn't even know! It's not like humans know these things, it was a shifter thing. I was hoping that she would come out and say she didn't tell anyone for this reason, but she didn't I liked it, not a favorite in the series, but cute nonetheless.
