In the Savior's life,''all virtues were lived and kept in perfect balance'' said President Ezra Taft Benson. Balance in applying gospel principles is essential to righteous living. Sooner or later we all face choices between ''two goods.'' What do we do in such circumstances? Drawing upon scriptures, the words of living prophets, and interesting illustrated stories, Elder Spencer J. Condie helps readers comet to terms with sometimes competing gospel ideals like loyalty to principles and loyalty to persons, initiative and obedience, steadfastness and change. Readers will welcome the practical applications of spiritual wisdom offered in this insightful book.
This collection of essays is one of the finer books I have read recently, discussing the balance between many principles that appear to be in opposition. Finding the "fine line" between opposing attributes that are good when not overly indulged in can be the effort of a lifetime.
A quite profound look at gospel opposites (faith/doubt, mercy/justice, knowledge/ignorance, etc) and how they play a part in our lives. A good resource and most thought-provoking.
