Upon Mr. Sherman’s death, Charles learns the rich old gentleman gave away all his money, leaving only his Victorian mansion and the huge library in the house. His will clearly stipulates the new owner must keep the library intact. Of course, with Mr. Sherman being dead, how would he know or even care about the library?

It isn’t until Charles buys the house and discovers someone has stolen items from the library that he understands the significance of keeping the library intact. Mr. Sherman’s letter to the new owner shares the secret of the library—every item in the library is haunted! But how can Charles ever imagine just how deadly the library keeper’s job is…or the blood bath that will follow if he fails to “protect and serve” according to Mr. Sherman’s will?

About the author

Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.

Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.

A rather intriguing start to Sherman's Library, a trilogy about a deceased man's library and the haunted curios that reside within. Each chapter in this novelette concerns one of the items and what happens when some of the treasures are stolen and touched. I'm off to read the trilogy set now! (This book was offered by the author as a freebie enticer.)

I have said before that I do not, as a rule, read books in the horror genre. However, I have been pleasantly surprised to have stumbled upon yet another author capable of spinning a spooky tale with equal elements mystery, suspense and horror. 'Sherman's Library Trilogy' is wonderfully readable and kept me turning the pages all the way through!

Ron Ripley writes in such a way that allows you to empathize with the characters- That is, to feel their fear right along with them and fear for them as well!

This was a free book and I was excited to read it, but it started off with a cloud of vagueness and then ended--because it was a "sample", though it was not listed as such. The writing seemed unrefined but structured, but that may be the author's style. I don't know because I was unable to actually read the book.
