Anna knows the loss and pain that can be wrought by winter’s harshness intimately. For years, she’s isolated herself, refusing the let go of the guilt that consumes her - until the winds of a blizzard bring a stranger to her door. With his compelling tales and heated kisses, Anna fears she hasn’t only opened her home to him, but also her heart.
Now includes additional bonus short story, The Winter King.
Tiffany Roberts is the pseudonym for Tiffany and Robert Freund, a husband and wife writing duo. Tiffany was born and bred in Idaho, and Robert was a native of New York City before moving across the country to be with her. The two have always shared a passion for reading and writing, and it was their dream to combine their mighty powers to create the sorts of books they want to read. They write character driven sci-fi and fantasy romance, creating happily-ever-afters for the alien and unknown.
This is the romance between Anna and Neledrim. Anna has lived alone in the snow-ridden forest ever since the tragic death of her husband and baby five years ago. This book starts out with her saving a man who has wound up on her doorstep. They end up spending a few days in her house together to wait out the storm. She ends up coming to terms with her grief while spending time with Neledrim.
I thought this was great!! I just wish this was a full-length book!
This is a ten-page novella about a couple who owns a tavern telling a wonderous tale. It was so cute and fun to read! I do want the story the couple told to be a full-length book though! I would DIE for it!!
I loved this story. The hero, Neledrim, was very mysterious and sexy! The heroine, Anna, was sad and heartbreakingly lonely.
I was captivated and enthralled by this story. It packs a lot in a short amount of words. Who was this mysterious stranger who could walk through blizzards without harm? How had he found Anna in such a storm?
He was a storyteller who wove magic with his words. And Anna was pulled to him in spite of knowing nothing about him. You know that he is not of the world but of something more. When the two finally come together they make their own magic and it was beautiful.
He shows Anna that to live in the present and to hope for the future she must let go of the past. She shows him that he could be loved.
This snowy world was fascinating and I loved the mythical ties. I was spellbound and very sad that their story was over so soon...I wanted more. A writer that leaves you wanting more is very good at their craft!
Now this is one lovely story!!! Even though I could not resist the author and read it in early fall, I will surely read it again and again when the snow falls! *sigh* The story is too short for me to go into details without spoilers, so here is my simple advice to you: on a stormy winter's night, just get yourself a cup of coffee (or tea), some biscuits, a thick blanket and a comfy chair by the hearth (or radiator), sit down, invite your cat or dog - if available - to your lap ---- and read this :-) Maybe the author can even be convinced to turn this into the prequel of a full book? I would love to know more ...
“The depths of your love would make any man not its object envious”
This follows Anna and Neledrim. Anna lives off grid and Neledrim stumbles across the cabin after being in a winter storm. I will say it’s only 40 pages and it didn’t grasp me. Also, I go into my books blind and I thought this book had something to do with Christmas but it didn’t so I messed up there. You can only do so much with 40 pages and this didn’t do anything for me. It was emotional and raw but again didn’t feel it. There is no spice just second-base stuff nothing crazy.

This is one of the best tales I've read by Tiffany Roberts. The simplicity of the story, a stripped-down folktale, really helps everything shine. The mood is set, and the great characters are rewarding. Each word is a clear investment of the story being woven. You get a sense of loss. Loss in the pain, the message of what winter brings...death so there can be a renewal, the pure power of how winter's cold embrace brings its own sense of pain but smoldering piercing heat. Well worth it read.
This was a very short novella, but it still told a full story. Anna has been living alone and in grief in the cold, snowy forest for 5 years after the death of her husband and baby. A stranger shows up during a bad snowstorm and seeks shelter. They spend a few days together and Neledrim helps her through her grief and realize she should be able to find happiness again.
It also includes a 10 page short story about the Winter King that featured Neledrim and Anna.
Meh... super short little ready, which was exactly what I was looking for. Not a lot to review on so I’ll skip it. It’s 45 pages, you either read it or you don’t. Lol
I tend to not care for short stories because they leave me either feeling nothing or wishing the story was much longer. This story comes much closer to that second feeling but considering that it IS a short story it was fairly complete all things considered but it could have been used as the beginning to a much longer work.
The basic premise is covered in the synopsis but the mysterious stranger is a plotline long used by authors and usually to good effect and that holds true here. The only downside was that I could have used a bit more of an ending but the real story and it's ending were about Anna and her hermit-like existence.
Bottom Line: I tore through it because it was a really good story and one of the strengths of a short story is that the action seldom stops, the questions were somewhat all answered but did leave me with several that were not answered to my satisfaction (hence the 4 Stars and not 5) but it was entertaining and no real dislikes. Recommended for a quick read when you have no novel waiting on you, this one will be good for those 15-30 minutes you have at odds times during a normal day. Since it is FREE on KindleUnlimited I suggest you use it as a choice.
5/5 for the main story. I usually find that short stories seem to lack substance, but this one certainly didn't. Beautifully written, touching and thoroughly enjoyable!
For the second part, Winter King, unfortunately I'll have to go with 3.5/5. Still beautiful writing and quite enjoyable. However, I felt less connected to it than I did to the main story.
A wintry short story that pairs a lost, broken young woman up with a man who has the ability to heal her if she can find the courage to let him in. Definitely fun (in a literary sense, not what Anna went through) and it satisfied my desire for a story set against a snowy backdrop. (What? It's a thing. I like when two people are trapped by the harsh realities of snow and frost and all that jazz.) (Trust me, it's a THING. A thing I like.)
Anywho. Anna is a lot broken and she's isolated herself to the point where even the hint of someone invading her space sends her into a tailspin. Fortunately for her, Neledrim is patient and careful and his kindness and care creep under her shields to give her a chance at living again.
”Home is not a place. It is a feeling. We carry it with us.”
I loved this~
Part 1: Ice Bound
Usually I don’t give a perfect rating to a short story but this was everything I needed to help me out of my mini slump —short, sweet, interesting, and ofc romantic. The MC is a kind hearted woman and I found myself empatizing with her while the hero was mysterious and dazzling enough to gain her attention. If this was a full length novel I know it would’ve been even better. I can already imagine Anna meeting and interacting with other supernatural beings and learning about Neledrim’s world in a more in-depth way. Still, I think this was perfect for what it was.
Part two is called The Winter King and to me it was a representation of what the original story would have been if it was a full fledged novel
I love when stories explore the deep emotions. Grief is a complex emotion and this story is not afraid to address it as such. Yet, it’s woven with such great characters that you hardly realize you exploring it until it hits you hard in the face.
The setting here is tangible. You feel the cold, smell the stew, hear the roar of the wind. And you know the depth of Anna’s loneliness and pain. Seeing her finally be faced with something to alleviate it, leaves you cheering for her.
Winter spirits. Stories of saviors who vanish after doing a good deed. A short little icy winter romance with a man that’s more than a man. Tragedy that stops us from truly living our lives as we’re stuck in pain from the past. A unique little winter fairytale with pain and love interwoven.
“The depths of your love would make any man not its object envious.”
“Take care, or your life will have passed by before you open your eyes.”
- Loss of a husband - Loss of a child - Grieving, feeling guilty - Winter storm
You can absolutely feel the cold wind whipping through the air as you read Ice Bound. Luckily, there is more to the short story than weather. I also enjoyed the tension filled romance between Anna and the stranger. The bonus story, The Winter King, is a storyteller’s continuation of the story of Ice Bound’s heroine and hero — plus a little more. At only 45 pages, Ice Bound perfect way to relax on a winter afternoon.
This short story was a delightful tale. Those shorter compared to Tiffany Roberts other books. There is so much feeling compressed and we'll relayed within these delightful pages. The warmth of the Romance is a fast burn in a world of cold. There is mystery lingering just beneath the initial service. The mysterious vagabond has more to him then just the stories that he has to be told around a warming fire.
I found this story looking for more Tiffany Roberts reading and fell in love. The cold of winter, the welcome of a hot drink and stories has a way of bringing in open ears-or in my case-open eyes? Heheh! If you want a quick read with a beautiful HEA, this is worth keeping in your library. Tiffany Roberts needs to put this in a collection for adults fairy tales. Just a suggestion! But it's doable!
I really enjoyed this…. was mysterious, easy to read and kept my interest! Who or what was the mysterious man that came in the snow blizzard? Does not give a lot of steamy details which was fine with me. It was mostly about a very lonely woman who had lost her family and was just existing. He showed up to help her put her grief away and LIVE again. The ending was perfect. Enjoy! 😉
I love Tiffany Roberts' work, but this is the first time I read anything like this from them. I loved the first story of loss and love, and seeing Neledrim in action as a bard in the second was fantastic. Both stories focus on moving forward from heartbreak. Bravo.
This is very different from what I have read by Tiffany Roberts in the past. However, the cadence of the story was beautiful. I loved how the characters learned to overcome their grief and accept love. And the writing was very poetic. I absolutely loved this short story.
What a skilled storyteller you've gotta be, to create a storyteller who tells stories that are this fantastic!
This 40 page book is masterfully written. Within such a small package, authors were able to setup an intriguing plot and characters with depth and mystery.
At the same time, there is a beautiful story that I wanted to learn more about by the end of it.
I was hoping for a magical spicy tale, and while it was magical and romantic, it lacked any real spice. Yes they get together, intimately, but it grazes over it so quickly that I hadn't even realized anything started between them. Still, it was a sweet short story.
Ice Bound was a well done fantasy romance. The first part was quite sweet, but I really enjoyed the fairytale elements of The Winter King and the way the storytellers (Neledrim with an assist from Anna) delivered the tale.
What a lovely duo. One tale told well following another. Lovely, for such a couple short stories, character development. I do wish there was more of this fascinating couple.
As a fan of the TiffRob duo, I know their books are generally quite long. Reading a short story from them was refreshing. Their reliably good storytelling still swept me away. This was a great little winter read.
