The paranormal romance novel, Secrets, is masterfully written. Set in the iconic town of Portland, as well as featuring the beautiful Oregon Coast, Juliet’s plight after being dumped by her fiancé is evidenced by her palpable emotions. The diverse and well-rounded relationships between the characters create a world to get lost in as you delve into the plot. This story is delivered in such a way as to make the reader believe anything is possible. This is the first book in the Rune trilogy and I look forward to finding out what happens next!

This book had me hooked, I ended up reading it in basically one sitting. Which is incredibly hard to do when you have a child. I really enjoyed the characters, they had flaws which made them feel more real. I especially LOVED Adaline and really wanted to punch the bad guy in the face. Once the paranormal aspect finally unraveled it kind of through me off but it still only took a chapter or two for the author to suck me back in. I ended up highly enjoying this world. The authors writing style was really nice and flowed very well. I can't wait to read the rest of this trilogy. Great work E.H. Demeter.

Super interesting. Demeter did an excellent job blending the fantasy into the reality. Everything seemed plausible and realistic, and I felt I could run into any of the characters on the street. Thumbs up!

Wow what can I say this book is amazing there is secrets everywhere you look, Juliet has never felt she belonged or deserved to be loved after her fienence left her.
Durning a walk on the beach she is caught in a storm and takes shelter in a cove where she meets an injured stranger Mash, she feels a connection to him and a need to care for him, little does she know her life is about to change.
This story has everything you could ask for, the secrets everyone has been keeping from Juliet slowly explains why her life is in such a state.
The author has created a world of mystery and intrigue that keeps the reader guessing and loving what is going to happen next. There is just enough of everything in this book to what you are wanting more.
I could not put the book down I wanted to know what was happening it was like I was part of the story, that I was Juliet it was that believable.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of the series.
IF you are looking for a series that has a mystery with a touch of everything than this is the series for you, follow this author and may sure you know when she releases the next book in the series. I Know I want to know what happens

I had never read anything by E. H. Demeter until now. This paranormal romance is great. The story about Juliet and Marsh is interesting and I enjoyed it. Juliet had just got out of a long relationship and thought she would be getting married but she was dumped. Her sister convinced her to go to their beach house for the weekend. Juliet couldn't sleep so she went on a walk on the beach there was a downpour and she finds a cave. Juliet finds a man that is naked and cold she takes him to the beach house. Marsh is his name and he has a secret that Juliet will soon find out. Now, you will have to read the Secrets to find out what happens to Juliet and Marsh. It's well worth the read.

Secrets is beyond amazing. I’ve struggled here lately with reading because nothing seems to take ahold of me and drag me in like I want it to lately. But I really felt like I was part of this story. I felt like I was right there watching as Juliet went through the motions of a bad break-up, knowing exactly what she felt. Knowing exactly what it was like to question my own sanity from time-to-time because of dumb decisions. And feeling like I completely knew this character like we’d been best friends since pre-school.

In the story we come in to see a broken girl who just wants to know why her fiancé left her. Why she wasn’t good enough for him. Why she doesn’t fit in with her family or anywhere for that matter. Never fully understanding why she doesn’t feel like she doesn’t belong, which is a feeling most people have felt at least once in their lives. But then we see as it all changes one night when she meets Marsh. He turns her world upside down and sends her on even more of a roller coaster as she now has two guys battling for her love and she doesn’t really know which to flood with her affection. Her heart wants Marsh, but it’s hard to love someone who vanishes like the rolling tide. But the other man is just as bad for her as we come to find out at the end of the story- which I’ll say is a total mind blower that I didn’t see coming.

Now when it comes to Marsh I had to stop myself from yelling at Juliet so many times. She didn’t just go for it, and the way he’s described it sounds like most girls would take any chance they could get to be with him. He was a total dreamboat, and reminded me a lot of my husband. Especially as much as he chases after Juliet, even when she tells him not to. He’s stubborn and goes after her because he loves her. He fights for her, because he loves her. Which is great when it comes to romance in books because it if’s just sex and no romance or actual showing of the love I feel it isn’t love but lust. Here I felt the love between both Juliet and Marsh and I screamed at both of them constantly because they wouldn’t own up to it.

And for me to say that I’m yelling at characters and am on the edge of my seat with anticipation, means that I absolutely loved this book. I can’t wait for the next one and look forward to reading it soon. I’m dying to know what happens next because I need to know what comes next.

I admit, the beginning was maybe a tad slow for my liking, and main character Juliet annoyed me more than once (though maybe that’s because she reminds me a little of myself in some ways that aren’t necessarily ways I’d like to be reminded of myself…)

But once things picked up (it didn't take as long as it might sound), it was hard to put down. It also got REALLY good around the halfway point! As I recall, I read a good chunk of the second half in one or two (maybe 3 at most) sittings because I really *couldn't* put it down! There was even a late night when it almost hit me in the nose because I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, and reluctantly set it aside to avoid injury.

My mind was reeling trying to figure out what Marsh was, though I think that's mostly because I did a lot of humanoid sea creature research not long before reading this (for unrelated reasons), so the possibilities were still fresh in my mind. Turns out, my primary guess was right... and there'd even been signs that I'd missed!

On that note, there were a lot of things I correctly guessed in the story overall, but a fair few times it wasn't until the last minute that I figured it out. And there were still plenty of times things happened that I hadn't seen coming at all - it definitely kept me on my toes.

I'm kind of in love with the villain in this tale, in a very weird way. I started out liking the character, but finding them a bit "meh, I could take them or leave them." And then the more we got to know them, the more I started sensing something was 'off' about them - I wanted to trust this person, but there was something there, some reason I just couldn't. And then BAM! They went full on vicious and I simultaneously wanted to throw myself at them (I have a thing for well written villains) and run screaming in the opposite direction of them. And even still, the more you see of this person, the more twisted they get. There were definitely a few scenes in there that I actually had to put the book down for a bit to fully process because wow this villain... I'm envious of the author's writing abilities.

As far as the ending goes, I'm very intrigued as to what will come next in the series. The epilogue definitely leaves things open - so mysterious! I'm excited to know more!

Secrets was a book I wasn't sure i would like, only because i am not a fan of books about water. However, the more i read the more i fell in love with the dry humor and the details with which it was written. I feel that it was well put together and that the characters were well developed.

I've been *dying* for a book that has selkies. Seriously, I was so excited for this one. Unfortunately it kind of left me "meh".

Notable tropes:

Insta-love. Main character and Marsh have succumbed to love at first sight and marriage proposal after a couple weeks, it seems. Sometimes this whole soul mates thing works, others it doesn't. I'm tired of it in Paranormal Romance. It just seems kind of lazy.

The Chosen One. Ah look, the protagonist has a big ol' DESTINY ahead of her. She's the one the prophesy has foretold of! The Lost One! (What does that even mean? Who knows.) Anywho she's here to save the day, even though she has no idea what she's doing!

Not an awful read. It had a pretty great climax toward the end, but the rest came up short.

I am always up for a good paranormal romance. Lately I have been finding books with original story ideas that have been so enthralling, Secrets is that latest book being added to that list. If you are looking for an original shifter romance, you need not look any further.

Juliet's story is something that may have experienced throughout their own lives. She's hurt by the one she loves the most and constantly feels like she doesn't fit into the life she has carved out for herself.

Watching Juliet's journey is endearing and quite comical at times. Her reaction to one of Marsh's many secrets actually mirrored my own. While comical, it does prove to come in handy when things get too heated. A great start to what promises to be an amazing series.

Very well written with great character development. Juliette and Marsh's story takes time and I love that about them.
There is another person in the book whom I love dearly, I will not mention names because well... spoilers! Read the book
and find out for yourself!
I read a lot of paranormal romance novels and this one took it's story down a different rabbit hole than what I'm accustomed to.
I was surprised and loved every minuet of it. If you want something new from a genre that's overpopulated with vamps and werewolves,
here's your book!
