EPISODE 4 - Arctic Survival

Arctic temperatures are a refiner’s fire for convictions, leaving behind fortitude rarely seen in this world.

Roland’s secret agenda may be exposed when he is forcefully taken by Pinnacle’s security team. If he can endure their interrogation, then he will have to survive whatever Pinnacle throws at him next.

Pinnacle will push the limits of the extra-human abilities of the Tech Games contestants to their absolute breaking points with a 500 mile ultra marathon in the Arctic. By modeling their newest punishing race course after the upper icefields of the Yukon Territory, they can achieve constant subzero temperatures during the day and a staggering -85 °F at nightfall. Cold enough to freeze any cyborg metal!

With no cold weather training, Roland’s tiny team must find an outside adviser, fast. Roland’s utter survival will depend heavily on a local Russian drunk, Ivan. Will the team be able to hold it together long enough to keep Roland alive?

About the author

Leif Sterling

Leif Sterling has always had a rich imagination and an eccentricity for all things technical. He read every door-stoppingly, thick computer manual that he could get his hands on from the time he was twelve on. Not surprisingly, college yielded bachelors and masters degrees in IT for him, which has come in handy when describing futuristic nano systems that haven’t been invented yet.

He enjoys using his powers for good, especially in the craft of storytelling - dreaming up the barely possible, and then placing the reader right in the middle of the action.

Writing is also a great reason to stay inside, in the AC, away from the hot Texas sun where he lives with his beautiful wife, two children and one feisty cat.

although it is a fascinating book to read read and keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what is going to happen to Roland next when you finally get to the cliff hanger at the end of episode 4 of Nano contestant : Arctic survival by Leif Sterling , you will be left with a disappointing find that unless you want to buy in a paperback form you cant finish the series as it is not available in kindle form to download and buy to Finnish the story. I as an avide read an sorry to find this to be the case as i enjoyed every chapter of this exciting tale and am now left to wonder what in fact happens to Roland in the contests deadly conclusion. Does roland survive at all or does he perish.

I read these episodes to my 11year old son nightly and he thinks this is one of his top favorites. This set of episodes are teen friendly; however I would suggest parents read to make sure it's right for their children.

And I thought that Game One was bad. Running a double marathon every day for a week in Siberian type conditions would be quite the challenge.
