From the first book I've been curious about the two doctors and their research and the plot line of increase violence in certain male shifters and in this book we get a bigger glimpse into that plot line and I really enjoyed it. In my opinion this is the best book in the series so far and while they can be read out of order I enjoyed the extra hints to previous main characters we get in this book and we even encountered Sy and Noah from the first book. I really liked that.

Every part of this book was well written and worked well together. It kept me wanting to read more and more and I easily got sucked into the pages. I thought the suspense element was very well written. A SWB member disappeared in the middle of the phone call and Rye goes to investigate, due to a deal he made with doctor Libra she gets to accomplish him. There are some really suspenseful scenes and a great plot wist at the end of the book. I liked seeing Rye and Libra figure things out and the story nicely progressed with the right pace. We also get to see a few chapters from one of the villains point of view and I kinda liked these chapters. They shed some light on a few things and it was interesting to see how things on his point of view developed.

I really liked Libra, she's a doctor and very logical. She makes list and she likes the be prepared. She's also very dedicated to her research and the pod and I really liked her. She's willing to stick her fin into a dangerous situation and handled it well. She's pretty, but never saw herself that way as she's the quiet logical sister and her twin is the flirty one. Then there is Rye, which I also liked well enough. He has had a bit trouble in his past and a bit of a temper at times. He's also very caring and once he falls for Libra, he falls hard. It took me some time to warm up to him, but at the end of the book I really liked him. I have to admit the scene towards the end and what he does for Libra to show his feelings did help a bit. And how he grew and worked through his problem.

Libra and Rue were great together. I loved seeing them work together and while they also fought at times, they weren't the nasty types of fights. They talked things through and came to a compromise. I also liked there was very little conflict in their relationships, there are a few issues that they have to work through, but I felt like it was all handled realistically. It didn't escalate into a big drama, but instead they remained clear-headed most of the time and worked through it. I really liked them and felt the chemistry and feelings between them. I really liked these two together and liked how things got wrapped up at the end.

I also liked the side characters and how we got to see Sy and Noah from the first book. I loved that we saw characters from previous books again. This is the first time that happened in this series and I felt like this book hinted back well to the previous books and showed the connection between the event. I liked the sense of continuity it gave. There's also a friend from Libra from medical school we meet and I liked seeing their interactions, although I did wish Libra had confined in her. I know she couldn't and maybe I admired her friend even more who was willing to help Libra without knowing the whole story.

The world building has always been one of the points were I had issues with in this series, but that mostly disappeared in this book. This series isn't like most paranormal romances where they shift into another form. It's mostly about their human forms, but their dolphin lives are a part of the story. They have certain dolphin behaviours like how they hug or show affection. And some of the swear words are sea related, which was a fun touch. They also have a love for the ocean that shows in almost everything they do. But it isn't done in a preachy way, it's very well handled. I also liked how in this book we got some extra focus on the tradition and if their rules did make sense and Libra questions a few thing about how they handled the shifts and whether some things are possible as they never tried that before because of the rules in place. Then Sy poses an interesting questions later as well and it got me intrigued how this will all work out.

To summarize: I am really liking this series, it really leaves an impression and I was glad to return to this series. This book was well written and I had a hard time putting it down. I liked how the suspense element was handled. It was interesting, developed nicely and there were some really suspenseful scenes. There also was a nice plot twist at the end. I really liked Libra, she was a logical and thought things through. It took me a bit longer to warm up to Rye, but I really liked him at the end as well. I really felt the chemistry and romance between these two and there is a great heartfelt scene at the end. The dolphin shifter aspect is handled very well and originally. It's more subtle and they don't shift like in most shifter books, but there are hint to their dolphin form. And I liked how this book did a bit more with this with Libra her research and questions. All in all I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next book in this series!

I received a free copy from AXP; this is my honest review.
This is book #3. Same as the other two books, the author jumps into the suspense right off the first chapter. When I thought the book was finishing up - my location thingy at the bottom was off - the suspense came back double time.
The characters are well developed, the scenes well described, you can even smell your surroundings sometimes or feel the wind on your skin. I love that there's also another story going on steadily through all the books.
Yes they each have their HEA but there's something else going on too that is stretched between the books. Appearance of main/secondary characters from other books gives you a feeling of connection.
If I had to change anything, I would get Jack to be "too smooth" in the public eye to create a sense of uneasiness when near and unworthy of trust.
Kudos to the author and the editor. Looking forward to finish the series.

EDITORIAL REVIEW:

Save Blue Water’s beautiful and dedicated Dr. Libra Lewis is determined to find out what is causing increased aggression among the field ops shore shifters in Dangerous Tide: Dolphin Shore Shifters Book Three by C.J. Matthew. That puts Libra in direct contact with the handsome, virile new head of the department, Rye Walker. The action becomes intense as Libra and other board members argue about some expensive new equipment to help her study the hormone levels of the male dolphins in their human forms. To push her point, Libra agrees to help Rye, who like all dolphins has a phobia, fly from headquarters in Santa Barbara, California to Galveston, Texas where one of the field ops team members has disappeared. The two become embroiled in more than an illegal ocean dumping scheme that threatens the life of the missing agent and puts both Libra and Rye in the cross-hairs of a ruthless killer. Even with the help of another field ops team and a close connection with a local doctor at the hospital, will Rye and Libra get to the bottom of the mystery, not to mention come to terms with the increasingly intense emotions they share, without losing their lives?

Dolphin Shore Shifters Book Three, Dangerous Tide by C.J. Matthew is an excellent continuation of the stories involving the work of a very public organization hiding an amazing secret. The characters are extremely well developed with a depth of emotions and physical abilities, and the action is intense as they fight their own demons to work together to not only solve a crime, but to save their lives. Realistic dialogue, just the right amount of vulnerability, and terrific sex scenes keep the pages turning as you fight the clock along with the heroes to see how everything is going to turn out. The story line stays strong in this third volume and leads you eagerly back to the book store for the next installment. I really enjoyed it and was thrilled when I got to the end and saw that there are actually two more volumes! I have become invested in the SBW mission and the happiness of the team!

4.5 stars - (review request submitted by the author for an honest critique)

Once again CJ kept me entertained with her fishy phrases: fish guts, squid lips, shark shit on toast. Yes, she made sure there was humor and romance mixed within the high-octane plot.

Speaking of plot, in Dangerous Tide, you'll encounter gun battles, explosions, kidnappings, illegal gun smuggling, and an almost air-tight frame job.

Throughout all that, you be a happy bystander while you watch an doc (with body image problems) fall head over heels in love with an agent who has trouble asking for help.

As you can imagine, both get over their issues and the final scene had me placing Rye in the top 10 of most romantic shifter. Yes, I have a such list. Don't you? ;)

And on a final note, I <3 seeing a woman kick a little ass. As the saying goes....We are women, hear us roar... or in a dolphin's case maybe - eeeeeeik eeik eeeek.

HA!! :)

This is book no 3 in the Dolphin Shore Shifters Series.

In this one, we are introduced to Libra Doc Lyra’s twin sister. These two doctors are identical and most people don’t know there are two of them.

The sisters are concerned that a spate of violent behaviour occurrences by some second-time male shifters could be a male hormone imbalance. There is scant physical evidence and the twins want to do some more in-depth probing to provide medical proof. For this, Doc Libra will need special, costly lab equipment.

When she makes her application to the Save Blue Water corporate department heads she is met with a resounding refusal. Particularly against it is the newly appointed head of field ops, Rye Walker.

Libra is determined to gain the equipment needed.

One of the field ops is missing and feared hurt. He is on the trail of a whistleblower informing them that a leaking freighter was headed for Galveston. Now Rye is off to find him No male shifter ever flies, they all drive because of a strong fear of being enclosed in a plane so far above the earth. In this instance the drive from Santa Barbara to Texas is 26 hours; the non-stop flight is only 3 hours

Libra offers Rye a deal. She can help him get over the fear of flying by giving him a variety of drugs administered before and during the flight, with the proviso that in return she’ll get all the equipment needed for the tests. Rye counteracts with the proposal that Libra fly with him to Galveston, administering the drugs he will need to get over his fear and in return, he will agree to be her first guinea pig and also vote to get her the money required for her equipment.

Grus the missing field ops member identified the steamer and was taking photos when he was discovered and is now being held captive. His last communication to SBW was abruptly cut off from a phone in a hotel. Rye and Libra rush to the hotel but there is no sign of Grus.

As is usual in this series, there is hot, steamy sex between Libra and Rye, much interaction with the bad guys. Rye’s gun is found in the missing ops' car and has been used in a murder, making Rye to the main suspect. Eventually, Grus is found beaten but not fatally wounded and after a short stay in hospital attended to by a friend of Libra, he is allowed to return to Santa Barbara in a specially adapted motor home.

This is another intriguing tale, with the added benefit of information on the damage being done to our environment by those companies and individuals seeking only to make themselves rich.
