Fun, quick read
This book is a pretty good evening reader. It was easy to read, entertaining, there was drama, love, romance and action. The book is in the perspective of the heroine Harry who is a last of her kind necromancer/ telekinetic/ hedge witch/ vampire/ werewolf mate. She is loved by all who meet her, except Tomas- I hope that gets explained soon, and the antagonists, the Mariposa and her evil, world dominating and mistreating crew. Harry is a natural shot with a gun, can throw knives, is killer with a katana, and she's trained in hand to hand. Harry also owns a florist business and is opening a coffee shop to encourage her sworn vampire bodyguards to pursue their dreams. Do I need to go on? I'm sure in the next book Harry will figure out how to stop world hunger while killing all the demons in hell with another new power she magically has mastered while painting teacups with ancient Egyptian poetry, for charity of course.
*exasperated sigh*
Harry is too much, she just loves everyone to pieces and for good reason since everyone in the book would take a bullet so that her coffee didn't get cold before she drank it. The whole thing is over the top. Furthermore, there are so many lovable characters being thrown in with no purpose.. I really think that there are scenes in the book for the sole purpose of reminding people that these characters still exist... Finally, this book is about as deep as a snowflake. The thought processes mainly involve 1. Lust 2. Anger at being inconvenienced 3. Isaac and Hilde's food. However, despite the issues above, the book was entertaining... I did enjoy her romance with her mate, enjoyed their banter and loads of sexual tension. I enjoyed the twists with her parentage, the love of coffee, and her kicking butt. Would I recommend it to read? Yes, it was a feel good book, perfect to read with a good cup of coffee after a long day.
