Daniel Kenney and his wife Teresa live in Omaha, Nebraska with zero cats, zero dogs, one gecko, and lots of kids. When those kids aren't driving him nuts, he writes writes books and does a lot of laundry. A lot. No, seriously, you can't possibly imagine how much laundry he does.
Math Inspectors 3: The Case of the Christmas Caper [Kindle Unlimited] — Daniel Kenney, Emily Boever (14 titled chapters) December 16-17, 2019
Another mystery, another math problem to solve, just in time for Christmas. The kids are excited about the annual local toy store’s magical Christmas Eve opening, but the shocker is that the toy store is empty, cleaned out bare. This leaves the toy shop owner/maker and the town kids very sad and upset. A clue is left behind indicating the Grinch, and the math inspectors are called in by Officer Evans. A character introduced in the last book makes a re-appearance and this time t looks more permanent that they will join the group.
This was a great mystery, with math and thoughtful thinking involved. The book ends with the “Meanwhile” chapter which gives clues about the mystery the next book will cover. The “Do You Have What It Takes To Be S Math Inspector” has five-word problems to solve, again featuring Gertie and Felix. Answers are found at a link provided.
I love this series. This is one of those learning books placed into a fun mystery to read and solve along with the kids. Appropriate for all age groups. Parents can read it to younger readers and older readers can read and learn along by themselves. Illustrations are black and white, suitable for Kindle readers.
