Sienna Nealon has spent the last several years of her life working for the US government, policing people with powers beyond those of a normal human. Now she's come to the end of her government career, forced out by the powers that be...but not before she's called to Chicago to investigate one final murder. Then another. The deeper she gets into the investigation, the more mysteries Sienna unravels, and the more questions she's left with, until what began with a killing in an alley starts to look like a threat to the entire world...
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
**No Spoilers This Time** The story continues to be good enough, with different possibilities opening up, for me to rate this as a Five (5). Everything I have read to date has been unusual in that it only had one continuing rough spot that many people, other than an English teacher, may not have noticed at all. This one broke the mold. Wrong tense choices, sentence structure broken and twisted, even extraneous words dropped haphazardly into sentences. On that basis, I would rate this book 1.5 (nothing was misspelled). Overall, 3.25, but rounding rules apply. I SINCERELY hope this was an anomaly.
So Sienna is getting the boot from her government job but has a job offer from a third party, nameless at this point, to pretty much work unhindered doing much the same as she was before. But this time she'll be a professional working for a private company.
In the meantime, someone is trying very hard to kill her...
The new job is a great concept and I'm looking forward to reading about what happens next.
I am hooked on the series and I have to say that once you start to read the books you just can't get enough. I was sad when I thought I'd read the last book for Girl in the box series. I was elated when I found the out of the box series! Gotta love the characters!
I just can’t even Scott what a flipping bastard…like seriously you abandoned her and now your happily working against her. Wow so much for love. I’m happy that sienna walked away from the government job bc the president is a flipping bastard too. I can’t wait to see what happens next
Alright, got to say I really did love this book. This installment was one of the best. I thought the plot twists and turns made it a wonderful and entertaining read. Keep them coming!!!
Sienna has one more duty to the agency, some meta has killed two humans in Chicago. Seems easy until she gets there. Someone has hired assassins to kill her, and they all want their pay role.
Just know that you won't be disappointed. If I tell anything is that there were some places that I could of laughed out loud, but didn't. Oh, and you'll be surprised who takes over Sienna's position, it's not Guy Friday!
A little less engaging than previous books, seemed a little rushed going into the conclusion. I LOVE snark... This one was snark excess with a fast conclusion/boss fight. Going to keep going in this series, and hope it hasn't jumped the shark.
Met several new meta assassin's in this story and I hope they start working with Sienna on a regular basis. I like their unique personalities and their meta powers. Hope new employee is really a "good guy".
On Sienna's last week working for the govt, she is sent to Chicago where someone has put a contract on her life, coupled with intent to end the meta-human race. I liked the new characters but I really don't like the direction the author is going with Scott.
This one was rushed in too many places. The meeting where opponents become partners is way too superficial. As was the end meeting. I enjoyed but I suspect there was a deadline he had to beat.
On book 19 in the girl in the box.I have to say the Author does a awesome job of keeping me reading. They are well written with plot twists to keep me reading.
Plot-wise, a nice continuation of the series but the lack of editing was truly distracting. Minor plot holes/errors, tons of grammatical errors including missing or extraneous words, etc.
Wow just gets better and better. Old friends becoming new enemies and vice versa. Will the plotting ever stop? Not for another 41 books. Lol. Great story. Epic!
It seems that Sienna's growth in personality continues. Along with the ever present sarcasm and humour that we have come to expect from our sassy leading lady. And bad guys. Very bad guys.
To me, this had an "Avengers Assemble" feel to it - read the book, you'll see what I mean. The new characters give the established cast a bit of a shake up. In a really entertaining manner.
And yet, there is another twist. One that might leave your jaw dropped to the floor. I can't wait to see where Crane goes with that one. Possibly the best in the series yet.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Another five star winner for Mr Crane. This book was everything and more. Just when I thought this book series couldn't get any more badass this beauty comes out and blows that assumption out of the water. I come to expect nothing less off this author. I hope he knows just how much we appreciate how fast his books come out but still manage to remain top quality. I never want these books to end! And as I had guessed at the ending of the last book, we really do have an Anakin SkyWalker on our hands :/
I hate to say this but as much as I've enjoyed this series, I was starting to think it had run its course. The epilogue did have a nice little twist to it, however. It involves a candyass that I've referred to in earlier reviews.
This book did get better as the story progressed. I'm actually hoping to see some of the new characters again (especially Harry) and I'd like to know more about Veronika and her mother. Was Veronika's father a metahuman? How did she come by her powers? Did Phinneus get his rifle back?
Looking forward to the next book coming out in July.
I'm still speechless! What an ending to this book! Wow!
Rich character developments. Enemies becoming allies?? Great plot...wonderful action...amazing adventure and the introduction to the future of Sienna and her squad.
Love references (as usual) to comic heroes, movies, past characters and more.
Nicely done!! Sienna and the other metahumans do not disappoint. Glad I got book #9 on 7-12-16. Can't wait to read and continue the adventure.
This is a great addition to the series. It has all the action, humor and character interaction you could ask for from a Sienna Nealon story. Great storyline and really fun dialog between the characters. Can't wait for the next story in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read and some comedy relief.
The story was amazing, and I loved the new characters' introductions! It was fun getting to know more about the assasins hired to kill Sienna, and the truce they made in the end left me really optimistic about the next book. The ending was the most surprising of all.
