In a post-apocalyptic world of vampires vs. humans, Yuichiro brings vengeance upon his vampire overlords!
After trumpets of the apocalypse proclaim the fall of humanity, vampires arise from the shadows to rule the earth. Yuichiro wants just one thing—to get revenge by killing each and every vampire.
Mika and Yuichiro are finally reunited! With Mika on the brink of death, Yui offers his blood to save his friend’s life—which turns Mika into a full-fledged vampire! Meanwhile, the captured Guren is attempting to lead the vampires into a trap set by Kureto, who plans to end this battle once and for all using the Seraph of the End! All groups descend on Nagoya Airport for an all-out war!
A volume that could be titled “humans are monsters too!” Mika describes horror of the “Seraph of the End” experiments, and Yu reluctantly agrees to check on his friends quietly, and leave them be to go off with Mika if they seem OK. Unfortunately, that is when the leader of the army shows up to sacrifice his own subordinates to power another Seraph – who happens to be the sibling of one of Yu’s friends! So, really, the only question is: What stupidly dangerous thing is Yu going to do to try to rescue them? Not for nothing is one chapter called “arrogant love”!
Edit: Forgot to say "spoiler below"...so here is that warning!
- I love the way all our favorite “good guy” characters (with the exception of a demon-possessed Guren) collaborate to help each other survive this battle! I still wouldn’t say Asuramaru is trustworthy, but they do try to warn Yu that embracing the Seraph will erase his humanity, and step in so that he’s actually able to use that power to help his chosen family. Even Shinya is willing to rebel when he sees the kids are in danger and something is wrong with Guren – who would normally never ever betray a comrade! And…“Mika bridal-carries Yu off a battlefield”, take 3! - The anime switches up the battle a little, putting Mika in danger and implying that that’s why Yu is desperate enough to reach for his Seraph, which I liked. But how dare it cut off before we get to the adorable old-married-couple bickering, which is a feature of pretty much every chapter where they are together from now on! [Yu, chained to wall, having just come out of another bout of demon possession] “G’morning, Mika!” [Mika] “Don’t you ‘G’morning me!’” (Launches into lecture about how Yu is stuck in the possessed state exactly 2 minutes more each day, and how can he talk about turning Mika back into a human while letting himself become inhuman too!) Poor Mika – It’s undoubtedly hard for him to listen to a demon use Yu’s mouth to tempt him with everything he wants to hear, like: “We’ll run away together, just the two of us…we’re the only family we’ve got, right?” - Even after 3 months, Mika is still pretty skeptical of Yu’s friends, which is understandable given the amount of backstabbing he just witnessed on both the human and vampire sides! But he will grudgingly admit that they seem OK, even contributing to a bottle of blood for him. Yu keeps trying to volunteer instead – aware that Mika doesn’t really want anyone else’s blood – but Mika concurs with Shinoa’s assessment that he isn’t strong enough for that at the moment. - OMG, Mika’s shocked face (and Yu’s “See, I told you!” look) when the humans ask his advice about what they should do next and then actually take it, even though that advice is: “I think we should go rescue the vampire queen, because she’s more likely to help us than the Demon Army is.” - Ferid pulls a coup! The humans take Sanguinem, using Mirai Kimizuki as a weapon! And Ferid and Crowley drive toward the fishing village where Yu and Mika are to (according to Ferid)…become their new best friends?
5 estrellas porque son mis bebés y este manga lo he amado como no se imaginan: su historia, sus personajes, sus gráficos en fin, tooodo, love love love!
Definetly a solid 3.5 rating for this one. This series seems to be going on a much more interesting path than I expected, I just wish volumes weren't released so far apart!
Battle was wild to say the least! Demon Yu makes me so nervous, but such an interesting side to him now that will definitely cause a lot of trouble for the future. Protective Mika mode is still in full force, and now it's time to go save the queen lol.
Honestly it's been awhile, but wanted to continue this after watching the show. I have zero patience and need to know where this is going because it is likely this will not continuing airing again.
I'm liking all of the seeds Kagami's planting for this next arc. Mika's distrust of the friends Yu has made, whatever Ferid's planning on doing (because who knows what's going on in his head and I know spoilers), Mahiru's hold on Guren and how long it will last, and other vampire nobles coming into the picture. It should lead into some entertaining content post what was adapted for the two anime cours.
Let's hope nothing becomes too convoluted, though. I only know about some minor plot details going forward, but I'm not sure where we're heading to.
Hopefully we get to see Guren back to his normal state again soon. I miss him already. The chains thingy were pretty cool to be honest. I'm also guessing were going to start understanding what "seraph of the end" really is.
Ferid and Crowley make a pretty good team, I can't wait to see more of that! The betrayal was obviously going to happen but I didn't expect it so soon. Gosh, I really enjoy Ferid's character but NOOO KRULLL.

Le pondría 4.5★, pero esa media se la lleva la portada con el mejor personaje de todos.
Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
idk i mean i loved the anime but i cant get into this for some reason and yu is getting ann*ying spraying the same contradictory stuff. i’m only interested in the vampires at this point so i might continue later
this was pretty wild, and for the first time in this series, I thought it moved too quickly through the plot. so much happened all at once that it was a little hard to process it all.
This was an amazing volume. Finally we find out what the heck "Seraph of the End" is. In addition, to a bunch of realizations about our motley crew. There is betrayal, action, death and of course WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION! Bleach fans will eat this up.
The big climax where the anime ended happens in this volume with Kureto Hiragi, Guren Ichinose, and Ferid Bathory’s plans coming to fruition, forcing Yuichirou Hyakuya and Shinoa Hiragi to make fateful choices, along with Mikaela Hyakuya, Makoto Narumi, and all of Shinoa Squad as their wordls, hopes, and dreams shatter around them.
This book contained a huge, epic battle, blanaced beautifull with intense, intimate character-driven scenes. The manga surpasses the anime in this volume, answering many of the questions I had about Guren’s contradictory behaviour and why he, Kureto Hiragi, and the Japanese Imperial Demon Army were in Sanguinem, the vampire city at the end of the anime. Clarity was brough to some of Guren’s actions on the battlefield as to those of Ferid Bathory, even though both of them remain intriguingly enigmatic. Crowley’s attitude while watching Ferid in action with the Progenitors’ Council was hilarious, even while Crowley’s two vampire lady companions, Cross Belle and Horn Skuld groaned at Ferid’s antics. Equally amusing, yet intensely intriguing was the last panel with Ferid and Crowley in a sportscar on a quest to find Yu and Mika. Speaking of Yu and Mika, this book added a measure of tension in having Yu suffer the consequences of embracing both his demonic and angelic sides while Mika struggles to help him, all the while feeling very skittish and mistrustful of the rest of the Shinoa squad, and mistrusting Guren the most of all. I really felt for Shinoa, Kimizuki, Makoto, Youichi, and Shinya in this book.. Shinoa had to make some hard choices to hold her team together, along with welcoming Mika into her family, even though the young vampire doesn’t want anything to do with anyone other than Yu. Kimizuki discovered he’s trusted the worst people possible with his sister’s safety and suffered for it. Makoto lost too many people he cared about along with his faith in a leader he onced trusted. Shinya, oh, poor Shinya, one could just see his heart breaking when he confronted Guren, trying to understand why this person who’d become his emotional center betrayed everything he stood for. I even felt sorry for Krul Tepes, although her intentions were a little clearer in the manga, even while she remains a mystery. One of the most touching emotional arcs emerging in his book was Yu’s steadfast refusal to give up on Guren, even while Guren turned on his own, and how Guren struggled with himself, trying to warn Yu to run. Just whose side was Guren on? He appeared to support Kureto Hiragi’s ruthless plans, yet at times he acted in accord with the schemes of his secret ally, Ferid Bathory. Ferid baffled me in the manga, since I thought one of his plans was a coup against Krul Tepes, but that didn’t appear to be his motive for attacking her. She acted as a scapegoat for some of his actions, a very plausible one, since some of what Ferid accused her of was true. Mika appears to have some loyalty to his maker, even if he doesn’t trust her. Ferid doesn’t appear to have forgotten Mika or Yu as he juggled scheme after scheme, leaving me intrigued as to what he’ll do next. His plans appear to coincide with the needs of the fugitive Shinoa squad, whom are in desperate need of allies. All in all, this was an intense, exquisitely illustrated volume of this ongoing series, leaving me eager for what’s to come next.
The end of an arc!!! I was confused the entire time!!
Everyone makes it to the airport but then the lieutenant general of the demon army shows up and starts yapping about the seraph of the end project that is an ultimate weapon made to destroy the vampires.
That entire chain of events was legit so confusing to me. It was so choppy and wild and I couldn't make sense of the battle?? So many people die and I feel like the seraph of the end wasn't even actually explained. 😭
Guren is unfortunately now possessed by his demon and Yu does what Yu does and goes beast mode to try to save him, only for unforseen consequences.
That part was actually so cool though I will say. Especially the conversation with his demon who is surprisingly a team player and was warning him not to do it and then further telling him not to kill the humans. But ofc no one can stop Yu from trying to save his loved ones so he does the thing and ends up. It just pissed me off because
MIKA AND YU THOUGH???😍 If I had a nickel for every time Mika picked up Yu princess style and ran off a battlefield with him I would have exactly three nickels, which isn't a lot but it makes my day how it keeps happening.
Mika is so much stronger than I am because I would have jumped off a very tall something when
I'm obsessed with the dynamic of Mika not trusting Yu's squad for the life of him. Meanwhile they all go around and donate some blood for him and then asking his opinion on what to do, and then actually agreeing to it.
Yu is so sweet to Mika about the blood thing, I'm sobbing.😭 Then they bicker like an old married couple and I love them so much I want to cry fr.
Apparently this is where the anime ends as well so that sucks because there are sooo many volumes out after this.😔
Also this is the best cover by far I'm sorry, Shinya is GORGEOUS. 🛐
This was a fun volume to read as the Nagoya arc ends and we see a neat timeskip. A lot is packed into the ending of the Nagoya arc. Imo it is a bit too packed considering its length with little downtime to explain the many big events that happen in this volume's coverage of the Nagoya arc's ending. We see Kureto's backstabbing and takeover finally kicks into gear as he attacks the survivors. Then Yu comes back! Then the vampires come. And Guren is brainwashed by Mahiru! Then the Seraph of the End! Then Yu turns into a Seraph of the End but in a touching moment Asumaru brings him back and now he's a demon. Then Ferid finally makes his play and reveals Krul's treachery and taking over! I would imagine on a reread this is more enjoyable as you're able to understand and get more of what's happening. But its a bit too hectic and chaotic and confusing with the Seraph of the End stuff on a first read imo. Then halfway through we get a timeskip. The timeskip allows us to see the real impact of the Nagoya's ending arc with everyone finally drawing lines in the sand with all the uneasy alliances in both the human and vampire sides frazzling apart and splintering off. It also gives us cool moments like Ferid's power play of giving a speech while Sanguinem is besieged. The Shinoa squad is now finally there own little independent group after going against Kureto. But their not doing so well. Yu is struggling with becoming a demon daily and we see Yu and Mika argue more over Yu's loyalty to family and who he chooses to male family. It's nice to see the Shinoa squad get there independence. They were pretty unfit for the military's cohesion and there resistance allows for neat moments in the future. Also Narumi is still here! Yay! I'm glad Kagami is keeping him in the story. He was a standout character in the Nagoya events so I'm glad he's staying. The ending has me engaged and looking forward to the next volumes and wondering how Ferid aims to work with the Shinoa squad. I think the Shinoa squad will fight them and continue trying to work with Krul but who knows.

Oh the book was great and all but let me speak about the afterward I just read: THERE IS A NOVEL SERIES ABOUT GUREN’S PAST? WTF!!! HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?! And apparently they have one that cover’s Ferid and Mikaela’s pasts too which we know have not been covered! I definitely need to read those so I’ll get right on that once I finish the original manga series.
ANYWAY, um first of all you’re trying to tell me Krul is actually allied with the humans? In a good or bad way? Because involvement with seraph of the end ain’t looking that good to me. I do love Krul and want to trust her, and tbh I wish her and Mika were a ship but that doesn’t seem like the case. Yu and Shinoa on the other hand, I am trying to accept. I feel like that has been a developing ship and they may actually end up together. I don’t know. It’s probably stupid that I’m talking about this again when so many more important events took place.
Ok I actually wasn’t that surprised about Guren’s betrayal? And he really does have like either a multiple personality or possession situation going on. Clearly, he is two people. So one of them is good and the other is bad. Does it still count as a betrayal? I don’t know. I actually think this made me like him more because the whole time I thought his good side was two-faced and here we learned that that was not the case. I’m back to liking Guren, guys. He needs to be saved ASAP! And I need to smack Shinoa’s sister out of him because she is a terrible influence.
This is where it ends in the anime and it even included a little extra events. I’m glad that the content from now on will be fresh, but I’m worried. Please tell me there’s nothing to worry about.
Don’t want to write too much, got other stuff to read and review. But I HOPE THEY DIE FOR WHAT THEY DID TO KIMIZUKI’S SISTER. I REALLY DO.
