DANGER IN THE DUNES

In a deserted area of a beach town, Leah Hampton is helpless against the stranger trying to drag her away at gunpoint. But a handsome man comes to her rescue, risking his life for her. Suddenly, she and Jon Wilson are being hunted by very powerful, dangerous people. Why? Could she have been a target for the human trafficking ring that Jon's mother suspects is taking over the tiny town? Leah and the brave, love-shy man who saved her are now being framed for their pursuer's crimes. Hiding out among the fog-shrouded dunes, Leah and Jon must outsmart the ringleader before they're silenced forever.

My heart was in my throat the whole read. Seriously suspenseful in that we're-being-hunted-by-a-crazy-killer kind of way. I mean that guy just doesn't give up! Thankfully Leah and Jon have staying power. All the action takes place in about twenty-four hours which ups the tension and makes it difficult for a reader to catch her breath. Intense, desperate and just a little bit creepy in places. Just the ticket for a rabid suspense fan like me.

First book by Melody Carlson I've read and it is a nice easy read the subject matter is not but the book itself flows nicely. It is a love inspired suspense novel so yes God is in it... IF you are not a fan of Christian literature then this book might not be for you....I liked the book and enjoyed the easy flow...And, the addition of the four legged furry friend was a sweet added touch as well.

Read this for my adult lit class-genre Christian fiction. This was only okay. There were some exciting parts and I liked the dog-although he was only in it for half the book. But the fact that the characters meet, fall in love while they are running for their lives and take down a human trafficking/drug ring all in the space of about 36 hours strains credulity a little bit. Also, the conversation,in many instances throughout the book, seemed unnatural and cheesy-and typically that kind of thing doesn’t bug me too much.

This was an interesting story with a beautiful setting, the Oregon coast. I liked the MCs, Jon and Leah. They seemed liked nice people. The story takes place in a short amount of time, approximately 24 hours, so it was hard to get to know the characters. There was a lot of action in this book, and there was a bit of suspense, but there wasn't any mystery, which was disappointing. There was a happy ending, which was made up for it.

Leah is going for her daily jog in a deserted area of the beach training for a marathon and hoping to meet the owner of the cute dog again. Jon Wilson is taking his dog for a walk, thinking about the jogger Ralph seemed to take a shine to when they saw her last week. When Jon does see her again, it looks like she is being kidnapped by a cop! Can he help her escape and stay alive until they can find police they can trust?

Nonstop suspense

Jon & Leah meet by happenstance..,...by the little dog Ralphie chasing Leah on the beach. Next time Jon sees her, Leah is being rough handled by an officer who turns out to be a human trafficker & drug dealer. In a minute by minute account, the next 24 hours never give you a chance to breathe or put down the book. Excellent book by Mel9dy Carlson.

I do not like Christian fiction. This was for a class I took. It seemed like the author was trying to do a Christian thriller. Did not like one bit.

Here's a good one. Cliff hanger at the end of each chapter. Tou have to make your own stopping places. Starts high speed from beginning to end.

Leah Hampton was warned about running alone on this deserted stretch of beach but in hoping to run into the man with the dog from before, she took the risk. Now as a man is trying to kidnap her she's wishing she would have listened, especially with rumors of human trafficking going around.!

Jon Wilson is determined to meet the jogger from the beach that his dog chased about a week earlier. As he nears the beach, Ralph gets all worked up and takes off, leaving Jon to give to find out what has his dog all upset.
Coming across what looks like a kidnaping in progress and knowing he has to do something, little knowing the can of worms he'll be opening.

Pretty good suspense with lots of action but I thought the book ended to suddenly without ever finding out about a man that was shot towards the end or who he was.

I almost didn't pick up this book because the last Love Inspired title I read was super cheesy, but I'm glad I did. Very fast pace, good momentum. I always question whether 2 people can really fall in love after 24 hours of sheer panic, but hey, it's Harlequin, they're going to fall in love, right!?! That's a given. That being said, I did care enough for the characters to hope they did, indeed, have their happily ever after.

I enjoyed this book. It is a quick and simple read, yet keeps you on your toes. It has a 24 hour timeline so everything happens fast, but the author doesn't give you too many details to keep up. Recommend this when you want a good suspenseful read.

This was an okay read.I enjoyed it but it semed like a pretty implausible story to be honest. The plot did not seem very realistic. Not a bad story but not a favorite for me.
