FREEBIES are often good for MORE than one day, I have gathered all my FREEBIES on a special shelf: Kindle-freebies (currently over 500 books) https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Book 1: The Devil's Contract Sometimes I give books higher ratings when I'm hopeful the second book will clear things up. I've been reading a lot of the author's books lately, and this one has a different style that I like. It's an older book, so I'm wondering if she was experimenting with different themes and genres. I like where this book is going, so I'm hoping I'm not disappointed.
Book 2: The Sinner's Bargain Usually I'm super picky about continuity and grammar and it kills me to read a book that errors, but I must be super mellow today because this didn't bother me at all.
I noticed this isn't on Amazon right now, so I don't know if the author is possibly reworking it, but if she is and it could be tidied up, this would easily be a 5 star.
I really liked the premise, so maybe that's why I'm feeling so positive. Without giving too much away, I will say that I liked the ending although I feel like I'm missing some contents. I feel like if I keep writing I'll give the love story away, and that's part of the intrigue, and it was great!
This review is for both books. I liked the stories overall. There were a lot of moving parts so you needed to take your time, things were easily confused otherwise.
This started out ok. But by the half way point I couldn't read much more but forced myself to the 75% mark before I read a bunch of negative reviewed that felt the same way I did. Read some reviews that told me what the ending was, and I just couldn't force myself to read past the 80% mark, especially knowing how messed up and stupid the ending was.
It's all a really confusing jumbled mess of things that don't make sense. I was eye rolling so much. NOTHING in this book made sense. And a bunch of reviews have already said what I think. The author didn't research anything at all, and decided at the 80% mark to throw in that her mother was going to wear a hijab. And there are no sultans in Syria!! Or wherever the family was originally from.
Beyond disappointed with this book since it sounded pretty good from the blurb. Should have read more reviews, but luckily this was free.
