Bedford Falls #.5

Under the Kissing Tree

Rate this book
For the first time in ten years, wallpaper designer Eliza Westwood accepts her grandmother's invitation to go home to Paris for Christmas.

Big mistake.

It seemed ideal to Eliza: go to a city she loves, and hide from the heartbreaks of the past year. But her grandmother is determined to teach her that the holidays hold the magic they once held, and that life is about love.

Eliza knows better though, and nothing can make her believe in stardust again. Not Paris's lights, not her grandmother's fruitcake, and certainly not Xavier, the boy next door who's, now, very much a man.

Love... you need to love what you do. .. if you work and you don't enjoy it, why do it? Everyone asks that question at least once or twice in a lifetime. This cute novella will make you think about what you want? When everything in Eliza Westwood world turns dark and lonely, she tried to lose herself in your little world and forget about everyone on the outside. But when her grandmother insists her to come home for a holiday, she never expected to fall in love with what her heart missed for ten years. Her passion for her painting, the desire for her best friend, she never thought her heart could beat again until Xavier was back in her life. Could she give up her life she had built for ten years and finally realize that home was where the heart is.
must read and you will be hooked, who wouldn't want to go to Paris for the holidays.

Even though I am not such a big fan of short stories, I must say that, this one has got to my heart. It is written with the heart not with the mind, and makes you feel in some way or another a whole bunch of feelings.

Such a sweet Christmas story. After suffering after a heartbreak and a miscarriage, Eliza finds it hard to find joy in something else other than her work.

Only after she returns to Paris, to spend her Holidays with her grandmother, and afterany other encounters with her childhood friend Xavier, does she try to get out of the shell she's been hiding under, all this time.

I love Kate Perry books but this one seemed rushed, specifically the ending. Plus, Eliza wasn't the best character she's written. Wasn't much of Xavier so I can't say much about him. A little disappointed because Kate's books are usually detailed and really draws you into the book. This one didn't do it for me. I was more annoyed with Eliza's pessimism and woe-be-me attitude.
