Really 4.25 stars.
Good book #2 in the Wizard Twin series. Book #1 is "Menage a Magick". My biggest beef with both is the length. They are too short to be stand-alone books and instead (IMHO), all three should have been packaged into one more expensive trilogy book. But having said that...
Marina is the middle daughter and the Guardian of the land. She is tied to her kingdom and cannot leave, but is irresistably drawn to the Sashtain wizard twins.
The Sashtain twins don't know Marina is the Guardian. What they do know is that she is their one true mate, given to them by the goddess...and they have no intention of letting her avoid the bond.
But there is dark, evil magic infiltrating the Marina's kingdom. As the Guardian, she has no choice but to fight, even when this fight threatens her bond with her wizard twins.
If you are offended by explicit sex, or menage relationships...don't read this book. If not...these are going on my keeper shelf! 'Nuff said?

2nd one in the series works better for me than the first, but I'm still not sold on how controlling these guys are. At least Kai and Caise actually do "love" the heroine, Marina by the time they have the joining, but I don't like their methods of courtship. It's basically, let us woo you and then you can choose us, but if you don't, we'll just force you, which we don't want to do, but we will if we have to. So where is the actual choice? Marina really didn't have the option of saying no.
It's also pretty disturbing (cough misogynistic cough) that this society of strong, bad-ass sorceresses can only be saved by having MALE wizards ruling it. Sigh.
The action in this story, outside of all the clenching pussies and throbbing members, is actually very thrilling. Dark magic users are trying to take over the kingdom of Sellane while the queen mother is away and Marina, as keeper of the land and member of the Sorceress brigade has to battle them off (with the help of her wizards). But there is all kinds of deception going on and trying to figure out who is causing it, who the bad guys are and all that...good stuff. This kinda ends on a cliffhanger as Serena is kidnapped by a pair of wizard twins who are definitely up to no good. Unfortunately, I can already tell that this plot point was never resolved. So know that going in.

This is better than the first volume in this trilogy, about the ruling house of a land who are Sorceresses, who are compelled (not always willingly) to join with Wizard Twins, to combine and increase their magick. Destined to complete this joining, each princess in turn must come to terms with the dominating and aggressive Wizards. Lacking trust because of ancient conflicts that still simmer below the surface, the joining process, although it can be forced, is a difficult process of persuasion by the Wizards. Marina is closely tied to the land as the "Keeper" and fights any attempt to undermine her independence to protect that land. The Sashtain Twins work hard to bring her to the joining voluntarily. Naturally, they succeed. I actually am looking forward to the next book. Cheesy.

This story was pretty good, though I wanted to slap Marina at times. She was so damned stubborn and her wizards were as well. I liked the mystery surrounding who was controlling the dark magic and trying to take over the sorceress' land. I really, really wished Serena's story was already written.

I did not like this story as much. I felt like Marina was TSTL a lot of the time, and deliberate obtuse about things the twins were trying to tell her or help her with. I will probably continue the series as there are only two more books, but going to wait a bit.

Even though this novel was published in 2005 and I have been reading Lora Leigh's novels for a long time. I never read this series. Talk about erotic, menage with Wizard Twins, mystery and suspense! This novel is definitely not for the shy, faint at heart type of people because it is extremely explicit sexually, oh and it's also a very suspenseful, mystery read as well =)

And let me tell you it was well worth the wait. Ms. Leigh has written a story that enchanted me from the prologue; I love how descriptive her books are, she makes a story truly genuine for me. WHEN WIZARD’S RULE is full of great new characters and legendary mythic animals. The action is breathtaking and the love scenes are as hot at Garron’s breath of fire, that’s right our favorite dragon is back and he is more intriguing then ever. With cameos made by Brianna, the Veraga Twins and the mystifying Veressi Twins Ms. Leigh will lead you thru a maze of twists and turns with breathtaking heights that will leave you soaring. I thoroughly enjoyed WHEN WIZARD’S RULE. Ms. Leigh has a true talent with writing fantasy, not an easy accomplishment let me tell you. But now the true agony begins the wait for Serena’s and the Veressi Twin’s story. Oh the anguish is so sweet. LOL!!!!

It has been so long since I have read this story. There are all kind of things that I didn't remember. I didn't remember the griffons. I didn't remember Garron's rip to Shadowhell. I didn't remember the Sorceress Justice being a traitor. There is a great deal more world building in this book. There is also more information into the personalities of the Covenani. We see more of Serena and we get to know Marina much better. We also get a greater insight into the politics that are causing so much strife with both the Wizard Twins and the Sorceresses. This series promises to be as complicated as Ms. Leigh's Breed series.
I forgot to say anything about Garron in the last review. Garron is the Jonas of this world. He is arrogant, insulting, snide and very caring. Garron has watched over the Sellane court for a very long time. He helped raise Queen Amoria's daughters after their father's death. He taught the girls about magick and the ways of the land. He is their adviser and confidant. I like Garron a lot and I hope that we get to see more of him in any future books.
Marina is stubborn to the point of almost getting herself killed. She can't see that there are situations she can't handle on her own. Marina is also compassionate and caring and very loving. She is the Keeper of the Land and it shows in her actions with the animals and people of her kingdom.
Kia'el and Caise Sashtain have known that Marina is their Consort for years. They have tried to court her so she wouldn't be forced into the Joining. These guys are very dominant. They have darker sexual needs that Marina is probably use to or would want. They find a very unique way to find out if she will except their needs though. I had to grin at their ingenuity. These two are also very power in magick. They save Marina and her sister several times. For all their dominance Kia'el and Caise are also loving and caring. They are some of my favorite heroes in any of Ms. Leigh's books.
Since this is Lora Leigh you should expect lots of very hot sex. She can write some of the steamiest love scenes I have ever read. Ms. Leigh also can write some of the most intriguing mysteries I have read as well. She builds them over a large number of books, always keeping the villain just out of sight. I am guessing that this series will be that way as well.

This books was better than the first. The world was better described and the characters more three dimensional. But the plot is still a bit unclear to me.
This time it was the middle sister, Melina, who met her twins Caise and Kai’el Sashtain. They know that Melina is their true Consort but they don´t know that she is also the Keeper of the Covenan lands. During the courtship they learn that she has been raped and try to give her all the time she needs to trust them with her body. But the time grows near when Melinas power will peak and the Joining must take place then, otherwise the power wont be as strong.
I wont describe the whole story but a lot happens, a few fights, a few deaths. Lots of angry males trying to protect the females and hot steamy sex. That sure is something Lora Leigh can write.
But I still don´t connect all that much with Melina. I really want to slap her at times when she wont listen to er wizards. Yes I think women should stand on their on two legs and know their worth but why is it so hard to listen to advices? Nah, I think Melina is a rather stupid and spoiled heroine.

At last I finished it!
It was sometime before I read this sequel to Menage A Magick, this one is longer and I really liked Lora Leigh's imagination in building this world. I liked the mystical beings such as the giant owl and the griffon, I can picture them clearly and I'm fascinated with them.
Marina, contrary to popular belief, is such a strong-willed and sometimes stubborn woman. It just annoyed me that some of the things were repetitive like she's the keeper of the land, it's like it's in every other paragraph when she asserts her freedom to fight, and not be dictated by her Wizard Consorts.
Caise and Kai'el are alpha males - dominant til the end but I'm glad they gave Marina a chance to shine, and they worried a lot for her. They are too stubborn to be together and they planned to use sex to force a vow out of Marina - something she couldn't give.
The underlying mystery was too hyped. There were times when the story dragged and I was like 'could we please get on with it?!', I felt that it's too long, it could've been shorter.

I loved this sequel to Menage a Magick!
Since I've started reading the 3rd book, Twin Passions, I was gratified to find a glossary of terms at the beginning of that book. I really could have used it in both the 1st and 2nd in the series!
The land of Sentmar is a magical land, with humans causing most of the problems. What a unique idea! Seems similar to the land I live in.
The Sorceress Princess Marina of Covenan, Keeper of the Land, is the true consort of Caise and Kai'el Sashtain, Twin Wizards from the land of Cauldaran. Since the two lands have been in conflict for centuries, with their forefathers choosing power over love, it is up to the current generation to save Sentmar and defeat the humans and the dark magick swirling amongst them. In order to do this, love and trust must conquer.
The Guardian Dragon, Garron, is back to provide emotional and physical support, with Unicorns, Snow Owls and Griffons playing important roles.
A fantasy, that asks all of us to question our own desires and decide what is really important in our own lives.

I have nothing against descriptions of sex in a novel. I have no problem with the very most explicit descriptions of sex that leave absolutely nothing to the imagination. But sheesh! There is such a thing as too much of it. When the sex completely overwhelms the plot and everything else to the point that it makes it hard to follow the story that is too much. When the description of sexual encounters go on for an interminable time to the point of boredom that is too much. Besides, somehow it just does not fit my image of wizards for them to go around ejaculating all over the place.

I liked this one a lot more than the first. The world in this book starts to open and give you a better picture of the magick and wonder it contains. Unlike the first one it has a decent storyline and opens up the floor for the mystery evil that is descending on the Sorceresses and Wizards.
As for the sex scenes (always my favorite part of course) they are pretty good. They have a bdsm undertone to them and they Twins seem to be all the Alpha Male I have come to expect in my smut. I am interested to see how this story will unfold....

Merina is the Keeper of the land and has to stay in her kingdom. When she meets the wizard twins, they are determined to join with her but they have vows to protect and stay with their kingdom. Also there is a dark magic in the land trying to take over and destory Merina and the wizards.

I normally really like anything this author writes, but this one was just horrible!! I am not sure if it is because I haven't read the first one, but usually with her books, especially these early Ellora's Cave ones it doesn't matter.
The whole world was odd, and didn't make sense. The heroine was not very likable, the heroes weren't very fleshed out. I found I ended up skimming this one hoping it would get better, sadly it didn't.

I read this book years ago and thought I would re read just to refresh my memory.
I love Lora Leigh's novels, have read all and I am going to re read the lot over the next couple of months. I really tried to like this one, I did!! however, I found I had to struggle to complete it.
If you love Lora Leigh my review should not stop you from reading this book, because unlike me who liked it, you may love it :)

Quite possible the worst cover ever and I honestly wouldn't of even given it a chance if I wasn't already a huge fan of Lora Leigh. As per usual with Leigh's books I find myself falling in love with the background characters and excitedly waiting for the next installment to see how my characters fare. Gotta love strong protective men that have to learn hard lessons when it comes to equally strong and protective women. We are an entity a force of our own; help us or get the Hell out of the way.

I was surprised to find that I didn't enjoy this book. I like Lora Leigh books in general even if they sometimes become repetitive. But this book dropped me into a scenario with anger and dislike and aimed at the twins and I felt no compelling reason why it was so personal. I could not get into it and found that I was skimming the book rather than reading it.

I really liked this book. I read the teaser for the next book to come about her sister Serena, but unfortunately I am not able to find it; even on fantasticficttion.com but I still really liked the book. Very good and detailed.

Okay, but I think I'd like to have the series wrapped up. I like the premise, though. It's interesting in fantasy terms - I don't know that I would really call this a romance. It's more a fantasy with romantic and erotic elements than anything else.
