Call me a badass mother-f*cker all you like - I'm a Navy SEAL and I take what I want.
Bella
He's a foul-mouthed, panty-soaking bad boy with a string of one night stands. I'm the good girl who never did anything wrong - until I laid eyes on him. I knew better, but his arrogant charm sucked me in and ripped me apart when he disappeared for good. It's fine - I'm over him. Or at least I was until he sauntered right back into my life again - a Navy SEAL now, all grown up. That sinful body filled out with muscles hard enough to break my heart all over again. My new step-brother. Screw him. I'm done. I'm not going anywhere near that arrogant bastard again. This time, it will be different. Even if my body aches with the memory of his touch…
Seth
I was a reckless bastard with no sense of boundaries - tearing my way through the panties of every so-called innocent girl I met. Until one fiery-eyed wildcat pulled me in too deep and sent me running from something that never had a chance. Now the Navy's taken me in, chewed me up and spat me right back out again. They may have smoothed my rough edges, but I'm still a predator at heart - and I take what I want. At least until my wayward mother screws up my life again. The only girl I ever came back for. My beautiful, provocative baby-Bella. My new step-sister. Forbidden. Impossible. And so utterly irresistible. F*ck this. I'm a badass Navy SEAL, and forbidden is just another kind of invitation. I won't hurt her again, but I'm going to get what I want. Bella is going to be mine.
Hard is a standalone bad boy romance with no cliffhangers and a guaranteed happily-ever-after!
Lara Swann writes hot, sexy romance with a touch of humor and a lot of passion. She has a thing for wounded alpha heroes and the fiery women who steal their hearts.
Her relationships are funny, sexy and spicy, and she gets as many thrills in pitting her characters against each other as she does when they eventually come together in an explosion of heat.
When she isn’t living in one of her many fantasy worlds, she attempts to focus on her respectable day job in a large, too-expensive city and dreams of a lake house in the country.

I'm always delightfully surprised and totally impressed when I find out after reading a book it was author's debut. This is one of those situations. It makes me a little sad for authors who have had many books and they still read a little awkwardly or formal; it takes me out of the story with the distraction. Lara Swann has a great future ahead for her as I felt like her words read smoothly and naturally as if she had written 100 published books!
I keep reading step-brother books. 99% of them are the H/h meeting and having some sort of relationship, something before they find out their parents even know each other, much less popping up married. This is one of those cases where Bella and Seth knew each other since high school and she lost her virginity to him the night of their graduation. Fast forward 4 years later and their parents have recently met and they're getting married. So if you're not into this trope for the "taboo," don't let that deter you.
I really enjoyed the book. It was well-written and plotted and had several moments where my heart hurt for Bella. There were parts I did find myself skimming (that was a super long "losing my virginity" opener) and parts I wish had been further developed (her career in forensics, the outcome with her father a little more, and why did he leave her that night/what happened?). Again, the writing was fantastic, and I think it had a lot to do with me not necessarily being the demographic for this book. It might have been a little more on the younger scale of the New Adult genre. It also could have been my strange reading funk (which apparently I've hit after reading 625 books in 2015 - no wonder.)
I definitely did enjoy getting lost in this story and am really looking forward to future books by Ms. Swann!
I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
(This isn't really important, but I suspect the author is British or not American? I could be wrong, but there were a few phrases and words (particularly University) that had me initially confused placing the basic details of the story. As soon as I was sure they were in England, a day trip to San Francisco came up. Plus the whole Navy thing.)
Bella wanted to lose her virginity before entering college and picked Seth to be the guy to do it. He was known to be a player and she resisted his "charm" up until that point. Fast forward 3 years later and they find out abruptly that their parent is marrying the other's. Seth is now a SEAL and although he's been with other women in those years he still has a thing for Bella. Which creates a problem because they're soon to be step-siblings.
This was a decent step-brother story. However the inner dialog dragged on and on. I also got whiplash with Seth's constant walking away from Bella.
This was a great book=the bad boy, Seth , teasing the girly nerd, Bella. Yet underneath all that teasing, there was this sexual hidden chemistry which was building. It continued to build which led to mutual feelings between the main characters and led to one explosive night between Bella and Seth which is when Bella lost her virginity the night of graduation yet leaves her behind when he goes off to the military.
We see them 3 years later when Bella has finished college and Seth has returned from deployment with the Seals. Neither know their parents are engaged to each other. OH BOY, are they going to be surprised when they find out. When they are back in each other’s orbit and in the same room expect so many feelings to come exploding out-feelings like passion, and anger among the forefront. Now they wont be denied and the MC try to deny it and try to fight it but it is hard and it’s a losing battle. There is also Bella’s friend Kaylee…what is going on with her? Will she get a story? There are so many up and downs emotionally in this story that you will be in for a ride but hang on and you will be rewarded. This is definitely a 2nd chance love story and the reward is there. Bella and Seth definitely get their HEA and the payout after all the heartache is there.
My rating:4.7 stars ***** ***A gifted copy was provided by Hidden Gems for my honest review**
This is solely for Hard, and not the bonus read at the end. Hard was an interesting read. I’m a sucker for step brother tropes and this one was interesting. Knowing each other before the marriage always helps build a story for me. While I did feel it could be a little verbose at times, I really enjoyed the overall story line.
Hard by Lara Swann, a bonus book following Hitmans Captive, a standalone bad boy romance, Ryan Navy Seal what's not too love, Bella the rich kid, Laura Swann gives you the love, hurt, lost, desire and a happily ever after ending. An easy fun story. Not much story but sometimes we don't want the story we want a fantasy. Great fun 4* Kindle.
I received the book as an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Bella and Seth Meet years ago, went to school together and when they both graduated Bella wanted to loose her virginity before heading off to college, she had heard all the stories about how great Seth was in the bedroom and figured she would be in great hands. After that night Bella never seen or heard from Seth again, until one night when things would change. Seth is in the Navy Seals so he wasnt around so much, but when his mom asked him to come over for dinner one night to meet her new fiance, he never would have thought that he would finally see Bella again as his new step sister to be. Of course things didnt change and they still drove each other crazy but they have this intense thing between them that they cant seem to get rid of.
What I enjoyed most about Hard is the passion between Bella and Seth, they are trying to try something out between them when they have all the odds against them, their parents are getting married, he is in the Navy and will be deployed. But when you really want something in life you have to work at it everyday, even when its hard. I enjoyed their story and seeing them get closer and building a lasting relationship, at first they were not sure where it was going to go but then they feel in love.
This book is fantastic, if you are into Military type books, where you have your real family and then the family of the life you have picked out for yourself, a love story with plenty of intimate moments, some dangerous moments, great friendships, and a father who thinks he knows what is best for his daughter and a daughter for the most part has listened to everything he has ever said, until one day she puts her foot down for the one thing in life she wants and cannot live without. There is ups and downs in this story but I loved it.... If you like stories like this, then Hard is a must read!
We first meet Bella and Seth at prom night. She's the good girl with the bad boy but they have been flirting their way to this moment for months. They are drawn to each other like moths to a flame and what happens is definitely hot. The attraction for one another is unlike anything either has experienced before, and at the end of the night Seth promises Bella to never let her go. And then he does...
A few years later Bella is in college, trying to decide which direction to take her life. Should she pursue her dreams or do what daddy tells her is the smart thing to do? Then her father drops a bombshell on her and tells her he is engaged. While she is happy for her father, she did not expect a step-brother to come with the package. And of course that step is none other than Seth.
Now Seth has become a bad-ass Navy SEAL and has decided to finally tell Bella about why he left her years ago. How does this go over? Not too good. She's pissed about what he did but the she still cannot fight the attraction she feels or the emotions he pulls out of her.
This is a great read and you get to see what happens between they two once they are back together. Very intense chemistry between the two and gives people a look into what it means to be part of a "military family". If you like a strong, alpha male and woman that thinks she knows her mind, then you will not be disappointed! Wondering if there will be another book coming that goes into Bella's best friend Kaylee's love life.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Seth knew he was good at being a SEAL. He also knew he was good at drawing the women to him like magnets. When they were younger, he found he banter between him and Belle irresistible and he had to have her. That didn’t keep him from disappearing and breaking her heart…only to return and try to make it up to her. Would she let him or would she realize once was enough? She couldn’t let him break her heart again…
Woo hoo, Hard is an excellent SEAL romance I couldn’t get enough of! I adored Belle and Seth! The sexual banter was exquisite, everything a reader could want in a SEAL romance. Using the word hot is an extreme understatement, but Hard is about as smokin’ hot as it gets. The emotional and sexual pull kept me hanging on every word. I’m impressed with the smooth flow of this book and the obvious erotic give and take between the hero and heroine. We all love the bad boy SEAL image, but Hard was so much more than that. It zapped me like an electric shock and scorched my senses with all that burning heat. I loved it and I’ll be rushing back for more! 5 Stars!
I was given an ARC copy for a fair and honest review. Wowser IT doesn't get much better, hot bad boys with tattoos. Their relationship started out with the bad boy teasing the geek but soon turned into mutual feelings that ended with one night of fantastic sex and lost virginity. Then he left. Fast forward a few years and the Navy seals have been a god send to him and have given him a stable family, and now he finds out his wayward mother is getting married and wants him to meet the new family father and daughter. Belle doesn't really want a stepbrother or need a mother at her age but if it makes her father happy she will be happy for him. But dinner is not all its cracked up to be when he saunters into the house and back into her life. Can they keep their hands off each other for their family or will their love eventually be too strong to keep them apart. A fantastic read that is a must hot sex and wonderful tattoos.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This is a debut novel for Lara Swann, and it was a good start. I found the book to be a quick read. Bella and Seth graduated high school together. Seth was the boy Bella decided was going to take her virginity before college. He was gone in the morning, not to be seen again until they were 21. At that point he'd joined the Navy, and become a SEAL, she was in college. Her father informs her at the beginning of the summer that he is getting married, he'd been single since she was born and her mom had died. Turns out his new love is Seth's mom. Bella and Seth are thrown back together and find they still have chemistry, though they spend a lot of time hiding that from their parents. I personally didn't like Bella's father, and he walked all over her. The story line was sweet, and I prefer grittier, and more action. I will look for other books by this author in the future.
A man with a troubled childhood and a girl that wants for nothing. When these two are done cutting each other to shreds with their verbal sparring it's clothes off and explosive sex after high school graduation. She's never quite seen him the way everyone else does. She respects and admires him despite his rough edges. He sees beyond her prim exterior to the firecracker beneath. But when things get too real he's in the wind.
When he returns years later it's only to learn that the one girl that remained in his heart is his soon to be stepsister.
Not the most unique storyline, still, it was well written and well paced with characters I really enjoyed. Would definitely read more from this author.
This is a smoking hot stepbrother romance and I loved reading this! Bella and Seth share an intense experience together and then he disappears from her life. Well, now he's back and is a sexy as sin Navy SEAL who makes Bella nuts and just happens to be her future stepbrother to top it off. Her body still craves his touch even if her mind wants nothing to do with him and I loved watching this relationship unfold. The chemistry between Seth and Bella is off the charts hot and I loved reading the interactions between these two. I highly recommend reading this to anyone and I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

WOW I absolutely loved this book! the characters and the situations were believable, not that silly fluff you read sometimes. This is a step-sibling romance but it is so much more I adore Seth and Belle...the banter between the two is off the charts funny and sexy. the emotions this story brought out had me laughing and crying my butt off. Belle gives him her virginity and he leaves breaking her heart, now Seth is back and wants Belle but is she willing to possibly having her heart broken again?? can he convince her to give him another chance? I cannot recommend this book enough.
Some of the military romances I have read was more about the characters getting together than about the military. This is Bella and Seth's story. Bella is willing to accept Seth military background if only he would quit running away from her. He is all alpha, but is afraid that she won't be able to handle it years later and she will walk. Bella fights hard to get him to understand that his military background doesn't matter, it's a part of him and she loves all of him. And of course it is a step sibling romance. I recommend reading this if you like the military and a good romance.
Hard is an emotional roller coaster featuring an Alpha Bad Boy Navy Seal and Daddy's little rich girl.
Hard is the story of high school rivals turned one night lovers. That was three years ago and it had a great effect on both of them. They reunite in the worst of circumstances.
Seth was the bad boy and use them and leave them type. Bella was the good girl that fell for Seth. He's not going to let a little marriage between his mother and Bella's father stop him from going after what he wants and that is Bella. This book has some funny part it was a great read. I loved the story line and plot. This is my first book by Lara Swann and I wasn't disappointed. I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

This is Lara's debut book. I must say I enjoyed it. Looking forward to her next... This story is about Seth and Bella who have a hate/attraction relationship. She is a rich girl, he is a bad boy from the other side of the tracks
I loved Bella's smart mouth and Seth's bad boy ways, with a soft spot for everything Bella!
If you love Military/Stepbrother books then you need to grab a copy of this one!
I really enjoyed this story. It's very well written and read very smooth. I loved the characters. Bella and Seth knew each other before their parents got together. Seth hasn't had a lot of people to count on before the seals and so has a hard time opening up to Bella especially with the situation being what it is. The sex is explicit and frequent. I didn't want to put the story down once I started. It grabbed my attention and held it the entire story.
Sexy as sin Seth, while in the beginning was a bit of an ass. Boy the Navy sure whooped him into shape, and then some. Quiet little wallflower Bella; there was a sex kitten waiting to let her claws out.
But when their parents decided to get married.. It's puts a kink in their reconciliation. I was rooting for these two from the beginning... I loved this ARC...
Have this book a three as though it was well written I found the story too long in places and I felt like it was rushed in others. I will however try another book by this author.
I really struggled with this book. I just didn't warm up to any of the characters. I found the whole story to be very slow and long winded with so much pointless dialogue. It just didn't work for me although plenty of others seem to have liked it.
I like a good stepbrother romance and this one is good. It took a bit of restraint to get through the beginning because the author was SO DESCRIPTIVE but I understand they have to lay down the foundation on which to build the story. But all in all, I liked it! *I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review*
