While Anna and Malcolm anxiously await the birth of their twins, the universe is besieged by the complications of bringing a corporeal version of Hell into being. As Empress and Emperor of Cirrus, Anna and Malcolm must also deal with the politics of trying to unite those who live in the down-world with the pampered citizens within the cloud cities. Anna quickly learns that changing the way people think can be a daunting task, especially when the princes of Hell attempt to thwart her plans at every turn. With many of the cloud cities under the tyrannical control of high-ranking demons and princes of Hell, Anna and Malcolm must find a way to force them out of power if the world is ever going to experience real change. With her new War Angel army ready and willing to do whatever she asks of them, Anna realizes she has the means to take out anyone who stands in her way. Yet, war isn’t what Anna wants. God gave her the War Angels to help advance the human race to the next level in their evolution and to help solve the chaos Helena is causing around the universe. As Anna gets to know some of the War Angels on a personal level, she begins to understand that they aren’t only there to help her. They are also there to learn what it means to live among humans and adapt to a new way of life. She quickly discovers that they may be angels, but they are far from perfect. Built as machines of war, these particular angels are finding it difficult to adjust to life on Earth. They seem to have as many triumphs as failures, but both Anna and Malcolm attempt to guide them when they stumble. Their assimilation with humanity is vital to God’s plan. Once upon a time, a little girl was born on a cold winter morning in the heart of Seoul, Korea. She was brought to America by her parents and raised in the Deep South where the words ma'am and y'all became an integrated part of her lexicon. She wrote her first novel at the age of eight and continued writing on and off during her teenage years. In college she studied biology and chemistry and finally combined the two by earning a master's degree in biochemistry. After that she moved to Yankee land where she lived for four years working in a laboratory at Cornell University. Homesickness and snow aversion forced her back South where she lives in the land which spawned Elvis Presley, Oprah Winfrey, John Grisham and B.B. King. After finding her Prince Charming, she gave birth to a wondrous gift named Caylin and they all lived happily ever after.
The second book to the Harvester of Light trilogy will be available for purchase no later than December 2012.
This book was a great read. Author S.J. West perfected the seamless transition from the previous Redemption Series to this Dominion Series. Awakening, Book One, continued the story of Anna and Malcolm in such a consistent manner. Their love story, family, and mission to improve the lives of the down-worlders, remained flawlessly connected to the end of Redemption, (the final book of the Redemption Series).
The book was well proofed and well edited. The flow was very good, and created effortless reading. The dialogue was well done, and the plot lines made perfect sense.
This story was so interesting, with enough twists to keep me guessing until the very end. There were so many surprises, it created a compulsion to keep reading. I had to know what happened next. I read straight through and was completely blown away by the ending. I immediately wanted the next book in the series.
I'm happy about the whole soulmate bond between cade and Helena...I see great things happening for her once she gives in to it. Which one of those twins keeps phasing to hell because that one is going be a problem in the future...something tells me it's the girl but I guess I have to wait and see
Now that Helena is free she is putting her plan for ultimate power into motion. Anna's few months of peace are short lived when the babies start blocking her powers, Helena resurfaces, Catherine comes back to cause trouble and Anna's goal of trying to bring change to Cirrus and the other cloud cities seems impossible especially when her and every citizen is run out of their city due to a major catastrophe. One war angel gets the surprise of his life and it may not be for the best. This was such a great read and its taken a great deal of restraint to write this review and not immediately read the next book, especially with that cliffhanger at the end. I can't wait to see how this story will unfold for all the characters.
Some spoiler alerts : It was so peaceful, in the beginning and Anna was enjoying it and Malcom wanted to find Helena and get it over with, well I bet he wished he never asked for that!!! The book had me on pins and needles and I couldn't put it down...
If you read the first series you know the mane charters of this series. They find themselves in a mess of many events are really testing Anna. Malcolm is ever protective of his wife and their children.
This whole series before and after this book have been complete excitement and I found myself staying up late to read one more chapter after another. I would recommend these books to anyone!!!! All these books are must reads!!!!
Eekkkk.... You go get them Malcolm! Another amazing book! What do I say that I haven’t already said about these books. I’m captivated by them! Totally in love!
please note this review contains spoilers from previous Watchers books, in particular The Redemption series. I pre-ordered this book and couldn't wait for it to be finally released! As I previously loved all of the Watchers series, I couldn't wait to see where Anna and Malcolm's story would take us in this new series. I do not want to spoil any key plot points but I will say this novel continues more of the story started in The redemption series. Anna and Malcolm are expecting twins but of course that doesn't stop any of the other problems in her life, in fact it just adds to it. Anna is facing the possibility of losing her role as Empress of Cirrus to Catherine and also wondering what exactly Helena and the princes of Hell are truly up to. Anna is also dealing with integrating the War Angels into the human realm and thats not an easy task. Helena is such an interesting character and I am really looking forward to seeing how her continued work in the human realm will affect her overall. Even though she is true Hell personified, I think as we have learned so far there is more to her than meets the eye, I really liked that S.J. West acknowledged the impact on everyone of Lucifer redeeming himself and that it wasn't all positive or simple. Is it spring yet, because I can't wait for the next book in this series!!

I had a few conflicting feelings reading this book. I love the fact that it starts a few weeks after the Redemption Series ended so I don't feel like I missed anything. Most of the first half of the book wa reintroducing characters and reliving parts of the past. I think the action part of this story was a little lacking. Granted, Anna is pregnant with Twins and all, but I kind of wanted more. Although I know that the confirmation of her love for Malcolm is a part of the story, I felt like it was in your face most of the time. I'm not only interested in their love but also in furthering the story. I did, as I always do with SJ West's stories, enjoyed the easy flow of the read but in the back of my mind I kept thinking, is this it? I'll give it a 5 star for now, but I really want to see where the next book takes me.
S.J. West did an amazing job with Awakening, once again we are with our beloved Anna and Malcom and the rest of the watchers. The emotional twists in this book come around each corner when it comes to Helena and Anna. we are gifted to visit a few of our watchers that are in heaven and Annas Descendants . But the best twists come in form of Annas twins. Be ready..... S.J. West once again brought this book to the end with nothing less than jaw dropping intensity I want to say so much but i dont want to spoil it. so i will just say the big surprise is at the end. Good reading everyone!!!!!!!!
Starts off a few months after Malcolm's coordination. 2000 War angels have been sent o assist Anna in her battle. Lucas and Bae are Gabriel and Jojo. They try to get them to spend more time together. Helena has a soul mate?? What?? But yeah so another complication. Anna and Malcolm's twins take over Anna's abilities. I really like the way Anna helps the war angels fit in. A great surprise at the end. Check them out you will not be disappointed. Full video review on YouTube channel Adventures-IN-Print. https://youtu.be/TtNYmPhFIJA
Every time I read a story by SJ West, I think she can't possibly top the last book. Once again she's hit it out of the park. From the first page to the last I was mesmerized. From Malcolms snarky commentary to the guest stars at the end of the book it was fun and exciting. There is only one problem...how am I going to wait for the next installment? Well done once again Ms. West, five stars is not enough.
I was excited to read this book. I did not care for the previous series finding that a lot of the magic was lost in it. Suddenly Lucifer and Malcolm were not charismatic, and Anna was flat, unlikable, and bloodthirsty. However, this book brought the spark back. I love the war angels, Helena, and the action. In this book Anna is someone I can get behind. I am excited to read the next.
I just love this series to pieces! Really anything thing by this author I have never given less than four stars. This picks up where her last series left off and just keeps running. I wish that we had more of Malcolm or that the pov would switch to his. I can't wait to see where this new series leads us.
That was awesome. Another brilliant book by SJ West. I love the link to Jojo and the conflicted Cade. My favorite character Alex. For you followers there is an unexpected treat at the end
I love everything that Ms West has written. Her books are fantastic. I have been waiting for this book to come out and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Once I started I was hooked until the very end. I cannot wait for the next one!
Devoured it in one day. Anna and Malcolm's story is far from over, I can't wait for the next book in the series. Reckoning can not get her soon enough.
