Three Wolves Mountain
Nachdem Jirou und sein Bruder Tarou, beide mehr oder weniger Werwolf, dem Café-Besitzer und Grabwächter Kaya den Kühlschrank leergefressen haben, verlangt er, dass sie ihre Schulden abarbeiten. Naono Bohra per me è una garanzia. Fantasy, bei disegni e tanto sesso. Adoro gli hard yaoi e poi adoro gli uomini con le orecchie o mezzo animali. Quando l'ho visto sullo scaffale la mia mano si è spostata da BxB (che avevo già letto in scans) a quello. Sapevo di beccare bene nonostante la plastica sopra e non potendo sbirciare dentro.
Eh si, la Bohra farà sempre parte delle mie mangaka preferite.

Not for the Faint of Heart - Three Wolves Mountain Vol 1 Review
Well back to the yaoi this week with Three Wolves Mountain, found on amazon and purchased now that there really isn't anything to get at the local bookstore. In some ways it is a sad fate, to not be able to find anything in town, to have to wait for things to arrive from the vast and mighty internets. But at the same time there is the fact that selection in the book store is quite limited, and selection online is equally vast and mighty. Which means that, drunken pineapple playing glorious music through my veins, I embark into a yaoi that is actually satisfying visually and imaginatively.
It's a strange thing (to date, at least) to find a mature (read sex-themed) manga that actually manages to tell a decent story while being naughty and fun. But I am extremely happy to report that Three Wolves Mountain manages to be entertaining, charming, sweet, funny, cool, and pretty damned sexy. It's good times all around. For those looking for a book that really succeeds in capturing both humor and a bit darkness and wrapping a sweet coating of sex around it, look no further. The story itself follows two brothers, both werewolves, as they search for and find a home with a human. It is an interesting premise, as one of the werewolves is mainly human while the other is mainly wolf (they have full moon versions that move toward traditional werewolves, but I liked the difference). They are kicked out of their home by their parents and are taken in by the human guardian of a graveyard.
And the stories are all solid, all fairly dark and definitely mature, and each growing the relationship between the more human werewolf and the human. They make a cute pair and along with the wolf brother become something of a family. This is while dealing with ghosts, family, and demonic possessions. It all just works, all just feels right. And while it is an aspect of the human's backstory, there is no actual rape in this volume. For a yaoi, that's basically unheard of, but here we get only consensual sex, only two people engaged in a loving relationship. And while the two characters aren't always perfect with each other, it works. I got the sense, at least, that these characters were fun and existed in a world larger than the one shown.
And, of course, the sex scenes are great. Probably out of all the adult manga I have read so far, this had the best art, the most detailed, and given that some of these characters have fur at times, that's really saying something. The scenes are steamy and well done, and there isn't really anything to be uncomfortable with. Here are two people in love, and finding out what it means to be in love. There's no censoring, no blurring or anything like that, and this is the first yaoi I've read where the guys are not locked into roles of who is the top and who is the bottom. And, somehow, that seems refreshing.
So yes, highest recommendations for Three Wolves Mountain. The drunken pineapple cries out in joy as it is crushed between my teeth and all is, for once, right with the world. The one real downside to this is that there is only the one volume, only the one set of stories. A part of me desperately wants more, wants to be able to keep following these characters. But I suppose I shall content myself with other stories, other naughty adventures, and know that at the very worst I have found a very good read. A 9.25/10.

Well this is a pain in the ass. I wrote a review and it's not here. Argh. Sure all my good stuff is gone.
So, there's this hot socially maladjusted gravekeeper/teahouse owner who is in a mode of self destruction while he waits to die so he can be with his brother who committed suicide when he was just a little tyke. The reason why the bro decided to shuffle off this mortal coil was that the guardians who were supposed to look after them were sexually abusing him. Needless to say when the older brother was gone, they moved on to the little guy. So the end result is gravekeeper doesn't have any emotional attachment to people.
Which is good because werewolves show up. Both are from a union of human and werewolf but the oldest can change into a wolf, but not into a human (got a wolf head) and the youngest gets a tail and ears and some bitchin claws. The smallest werewolf sees the gravekeeper and goes into heat and decides to make him his own...from there on, any peace and quiet the gravekeeper had or wanted is gone.
Why 5 stars? I cried. Damn, I cried a couple of times. This is why I don't listen to country music. Bawls, sniffles and the like. Also Bohra Naono is an amazing artist who can draw *pretty* but likes those characters that are a little physically mangled or spiritually scarred.

CW: Death, Grief, Suicide, Suicide Ideation, Sexual Assault of a Minor in a character's past.
This was still such a good read, I've re-read it three times now. We follow a family of werewolves and the human that they adopt into their family. The two men have a very intimate close relationship. I really like the dark themes in this book, though it can be hard to read at times. Our human character has a traumatic past involving a pedophilic uncle which he flashbacks to. It was handled tastefully, and added more depth to the character.
I love the family relationship in this one. There's something very nice about being in a wolf pack and being loved and wanted. I would recommend this and I hope the mangaka gets more work in English.

This was a cute story! I loved the paranormal element. It was funny, sexy, and had a lot of heart, as well as sexual diversity. I really enjoyed myself, and would reread this one!

I am very much a novice in all things yaoi, and manga in general, so sometimes I read something and wonder if that counts as good for its genre or if it’s terrible. But now that I’ve read this one I feel like I can have somewhat of a standard to hold things too because o really enjoyed this one and didn’t want to put it down.

Ma quanto mi è piaciuto questo manga? Cioè... ADOROOOOOHHHH!
Premetto che non lo conoscevo e mi è passato davanti senza che neanche mi accorgessi della sua esistenza. Per molto tempo neanche sapevo il titolo ed è stato puramente un caso e una voglia da fangirl pazza e alla ricerca di novità a farmelo notare. Complice la mia dipendenza dal più malvagio, drogoso e straordinario sito di vendite online (Amazon pagami questo product placement please XD) ne ho recuperata una copia e la lettura mi ha illuminato. Non pensavo di trovarlo così divertente è bello soprattutto considerando che è stata una delle prime uscite yaoi/Boy's love della casa Magic Press, quando ancora la collana 801 era praticamente inesistente. La storia è fin da subito divertente e scoppiettante. Susugi si occupa di controllare ogni sera il cimitero vicino al luogo in cui vive. Di giorno lavora in un piccolo bar vicino al luogo di culto e la notte si aggira come un'anima in pena tra le tombe eliminando senza pietà qualsiasi malfattore e profanatore. Una sera come tante altre si ritrova però di fronte due bizzarri individui: un giovane dall'aspetto dolce e innocente e un lupo. I due non esitano a rubare il cibo del guardiano e una volta messi alle strette sono costretti a confessare la propria identità. Sono Jirou e Tarou , degli esseri sovrannaturali, dei lupi mannari cacciati dalla famiglia perché considerati abbastanza grandi per cavarsela da soli. I due fratelli non sanno cosa fare, sono stati sempre maltrattati crudelmente dagli umani e lo tsunderino Susugi non può che prendere a cuore il loro caso, decidendo di tenerli al sicuro e offrire a Jirou un lavoro come cameriere. Una scelta provvidenziale e che farà nascere un dolcissimo sentimento tra lui e Jirou, il più timido e goffo tra i fratelli. Un rapporto che porterà il guardiano a fare i conti con il passato e rendersi conto di non poter più vivere da solo e che solo l'amore può renderci felici e farci sperare in un futuro migliore. Che dire... i disegni sono meravigliosi e una gioia per gli occhi e beh... tutto è perfetto. La storia è simpatica e divertente e non si dimentica di mostrarci anche il lato più oscuro della vita e più triste, raccontandoci il dolore e la sofferenza che la perdita di una persona cara può portare nella nostra anima. Il rapporto tra Jirou e il suo innamorato è fluffosissimo. Susugi è un maschio alfa dolce e protettivo e Jirou e un piccolo marshmallow teneroso. Ho anche adorato Tarou, nonostante sia un lupo che riesce a trasformasi solo parzialmente in umano durante le notti di luna piena è comunque una spalla comica perfetta, i suoi battibecchi con Susugi mi hanno fatto ridere come una pazza e il suo affetto per il fratello è commovente perché sincero e incondizionato. Come non citare poi Aki, la fidanzata storica di Tarou e testa matta della famiglia, una lupetta che porterà non pochi scompigli nella coppietta ma che alimenterà ancora di più quell'amore e affetto sincero. Tutto è meraviglioso e mentre leggevo e dopo aver finito la lettura ero così felice e circondata di arcobaleni che volevo semplicemente sorridere come una stupida XD
Una storia semplice ma geniale. Perfetta per chi ama ridere ma anche riflettere. Se amate i dolci lupetti combina guai, gli alpha coccolosi e tsunderini e una pazza e strampalata famiglia di lupi/umani... fa al caso vostro! Un must have passato un po' in sordina ma che dovete assolutamente leggere!!

This was much heavier thematically than I anticipated, which was unexpected, though appreciated, as it gave more depth to the connections between these characters, who are simply finding where, and with whom, they belong. The art was good, and Kaya especially was gorgeous. And even with the serious moments, there was still plenty of humor and sheer cuteness. On another note, I was pleasantly surprised to find some...sexual versatility...with this couple.

Sokan nincsenek oda Bohra munkáiért én viszont az elejétől kezdve imádtam őket. Szeretem, hogy a komoly témák közben is bele-belerajzol/ír vicces jeleneteket, hogy oldja kicsit a feszültséget. A szereplők pedig nagyon kedvelhetőek.

Non ci riesco! Per quanti ne possa leggere, non riesco a entrare nell'ottica degli yaoi. Non sono le scene di sesso a infastidirmi, per carità. È il rapporto tra i due protagonisti che mi lascia perplessa il 95% delle volte.
Anche qua. Da un lato mi è piaciuto il fatto che ci fossero orecchie e code da lupo. Ma i due s'innamorano nel giro di tre pagine e poi non riescono a capirsi per il resto del volume. Poi ci sono fantasmi che appaiono e altri lupi mannari.
Bellini i disegni. Fortuna che l'ho preso di seconda mano.
Anche qua. Da un lato mi è piaciuto il fatto che ci fossero orecchie e code da lupo. Ma i due s'innamorano nel giro di tre pagine e poi non riescono a capirsi per il resto del volume. Poi ci sono fantasmi che appaiono e altri lupi mannari.
Bellini i disegni. Fortuna che l'ho preso di seconda mano.

Avevo adorato questo manga in versione scanlation e leggerlo in volumetto è stato fantastico. I disegni sono deliziosi, i protagonisti sexy e dolcissimi, le scenette comiche divertenti. Un must per gli amanti degli yaoi. Peccato solo che siano brevi episodi e non una storia più articolata, ma ci accontentiamo.

Il rapporto tra Jirou e il suo innamorato è fluffosissimo. Susugi è un maschio alfa dolce e protettivo e Jirou e un piccolo marshmallow teneroso. Ho anche adorato Tarou, nonostante sia un lupo che riesce a trasformasi solo parzialmente in umano durante le notti di luna piena è comunque una spalla comica perfetta, i suoi battibecchi con Susugi mi hanno fatto ridere come una pazza e il suo affetto per il fratello è commovente perché sincero e incondizionato. Come non citare poi Aki, la fidanzata storica di Tarou e testa matta della famiglia, una lupetta che porterà non pochi scompigli nella coppietta ma che alimenterà ancora di più quell'amore e affetto sincero. Tutto è meraviglioso e mentre leggevo e dopo aver finito la lettura ero così felice e circondata di arcobaleni che volevo semplicemente sorridere come una stupida XD
Una storia semplice ma geniale. Perfetta per chi ama ridere ma anche riflettere. Se amate i dolci lupetti combina guai, gli alpha coccolosi e tsunderini e una pazza e strampalata famiglia di lupi/umani... fa al caso vostro! Un must have passato un po' in sordina ma che dovete assolutamente leggere!!

Più do una chance ai miei vecchi manga yaoi comprati in età adolescenziale, più mi ritrovo tra le mani scorie radioattive, questa è l'ennesima. Ormai è chiaro che io, ragazzo "cis" gay, non sono il target di una storia d'amore tra due uomini. Soliti cliché, trama inesistente, personaggi carta velina, solito CNC, noiosissimo incesto, violenza gratuita ecc... Il punto è che erano tropi così abusati anche al tempo, che oggi risultano ancora più noiosi e per nulla stimolanti. Non trovo che siano interessanti per un amante di roba hardcore (perché non hanno niente di hardcore). C'è un tentativo ad esserlo, ma l'asticella della decenza che cerca di superare è così noiosamente puritana che il risultato è una caricatura grottesca. È ben disegnato, e i personaggi non sembrano lo stesso identico personaggio con le sopracciglia diverse. Ma una mancanza di orrore non fa un complimento.

A really lovely story and we'll illustrated
I wasn't too sure from the sample if the style of illustrations was for me or if it was likely to be too childish for my taste. I'm so glad that I took a chance. I loved the story and it was well drawn throughout. The plot develops well and the characters are fully fleshed out, and there is a twist at the end with the secondary character Aki that I was not expecting. I also loved that one of the characters remained in his wolf form throughout, different. Altogether, a pleasant surprise and a lovely, gently humorous read with a good pace that I am sure that I will revisit.

A természetfeletti történetekkel pikk-pakk meg lehet engem venni, hát még ha (vér)farkas is vagyon benne, itt pediglen van egy pár. Még ha nem is a kedvencem Naono Bohra, a jellegzetes stílusáért nagyon odavagyok, ebben a mangában pedig kifejezetten bejövős volt. A fejeken, amiket Susugi vagy épp Jiro vágott, egyszerűen meghaltam, olyan jókat röhögtem. Kellemesen szórakoztató történet volt és ezúttal nem a morc temetőőr lett a befutó kedvenc, hanem a nyakörves Tarou.

The entire thing felt rushed and got confusing at certain points due to the time skips. I didn’t think the ending was a definite ending; It felt more like the ending to a volume, that would be continued in a series instead of a one-shot. I also really didn’t like the abuse that was reveal in Susugi’s childhood. I understand it’s a part of what makes him, him but it was just unsettling to learn.

I was really pleased with this one! It's got werewolves, but in a new and unique way. It's got grave robbers, fighting, bloodshed, ghosts, possession, demon imp gremlin things, consensual sexy times, and people resolving relationship issues by actually talking about their problems with each other! What's not to love!

This was a cute one shot, despite being really smutty. I want to say that the werewolf boy is of age, even though they call him a kid. That's how I sleep at night. I did like their relationship, though. Naono's art is also STUNNING! I'm glad I decided to pick this one up, it was an enjoyable read.

not bad!! I appreciate the plot line interwoven throughout and really loved Tarou and his love story as well! had some issues with the need to mention that Kaya was a ‘kid’ even though he was confirmed an adult but I guess that’s an age gap thing? dunno, but werewolves!!!

Very cute, with many amusing moments interspersed! I was very happy it didn't fall into many of the yaoi tropes, and was delighted with how sweet the romance was.

This was fun to read! A few questionable plot points but I think it was a product of the times since this is kind of an older title. Classic BL tropes, but I was here for it 😅
