Creating Classroom Magic: Using Lessons from the Life of Walt Disney to Create an Experimental Prototype Classroom of Tomorrow

Rate this book
Award-winning teacher Shauna Pollock shares her innovative system for an "experimental prototype classroom of tomorrow" that you can apply today to your own classroom, and reap the educational benefits of teaching by the "Disney Way". Walt Disney was a filmmaker, a theme park designer, and an innovator - but he was also an educator, and the same principles that make his films so watchable and his theme parks so enjoyable can be applied to the classroom. If Walt Disney had designed a curriculum, equally effective for students from kindergarten through high school, it would have looked a lot like Shauna Pollock's Creating Classroom Magic . Shauna shows you how PUNCH UP YOUR LESSON PLANS WITH PIXIE DUST!

If you're a teacher AND you love Disneyland - this is the book for you. I spent so much time before reading this book learning about the Disney Cast Member (employees) trainings and read several books including Be Our Guest to learn about the way Disney hires and trains its Cast Members in hopes of being able to translate it into the classroom setting. But just as I was finishing up my research, this incredible book came out! I read it. I loved it. I'm re-reading it now that its the summer. This has earned a permanent spot on my bookshelf. You'll learn to reignite your teaching passion with a little Disney magic.

I was excited to read this book about incorporating the ideas of Walt Disney into the classroom. There were some good ideas and some things I already do. But most of the books as directed at teachers of younger students. I teach high school so we don't have recess, gym or other activities. Still, it did remind me to keep a positive attitude in class and to keep trying new things.
