Finally caught up with Nuits Mysterieuses a Lyon & gosh the tears in my eyes. The plot, the themes, the characters, the dynamics, the drama, the lore, the emotional moments... everything was garbage from beginning to end. On my way to the hospital, definitely the worst book I've ever read.
Never have I been more deeply invested in a book of this stature. Such a best seller being this terrible is unacceptable and should be condemned to a thousand years in the fiery pits of hell. Never have I deeply hated the main character so much and never have I derived so much ecstasy from the anticipation of their downfall than here. And the author blew it? Kevin doesn't die. Solange and Alphonse vanish. There is no villain, no threat. What is the story for? Kevin doesn't get thrashed by God's righteous hand of JUSTICE like he deserved. A whiny, show-off brat that treats the people around him like absolute garbage. He even has a moment of self-reflection where he goes like "Oh maybe I was a bad person," but ends up just shrugging it off? Forget all the other criminal level offenses in this book, this is a titanic level war crime, that breaks the Geneva Convention with such fervor that all of NATO should punish this novel with the severity of their entire nuclear arsenal.
He deserved to die like a dog, but he gets off scot-free? Unacceptable. Obviously, the story needed to go on the path of Kevin being rejected by every single person in his life. He should confess his love to everyone, Tanya, Solange, Alphonse, Marie-Louise, Dylan and Tanya's new boyfriend and get rejected at EACH AND EVERY TURN BECAUSE THAT IS JUSTICE. YOU HEAR THAT AUTHOR? I WILL NOT BE SILENCED AND I DEMAND JUSTICE AGAINST KEVIN.

Most of this book is just a kid being whiny. It’s entertaining, but also nearly entirely pointless. All the plot, which isn’t really plot, happens in the last 20 pages. But also, I liked this book because it was easy to read and all the words were translated in the back in case I got lost. It was good for learning french, but the actual book itself isn’t that great. :)
Let me begin by first discussing the plot. I know many people find it difficult to understand, however, I find it to be perfectly thought out and well established. The order of events is not confusing at all and the ending chapter does not feel rushed in the slightest. But as we all know, the best part of the book is the colorful characters.
The book has clear characters that we hate and characters that we love. Alphonse, for example, is quite a daft fellow: stupid, impractical and rather strange. I hate Alphonse, I’m so glad he disappeared at the end of the book. He should have never laid his eyes on Kevin, the best tennis player in the world. He just got lucky when he hit Kevin in the face with that ball, which was also extremely disrespectful and #uncool. If alphonse was a color, he would be stummy beige.
Onto characters that we love, Solange, she was right to call him perfect and I can’t believe she isn’t fawning all over him every time she sees him. Solange is the personification of the perfect most romantic color, butter. The 604 year age gap is not that big and I don’t get why people are complaining about it. Solange is so hot in all of the images she is in, she is definitely worthy of Kevin.
Now what we have all been waiting for, Kevin. Kevin is medium slate blue, but don’t get me wrong he is not medium or average in any sense, he’s perfect. I really like how Kevin doesn’t like Dylan’s Goodwill clothing, and one of my favorite lines is when he says that Dylan’s parents should get divorced. He is obviously the hero of the story, he is so #cool. Kevin is the most perfect man to exist. I wish he was real. I would date him. Kevin dresses so spiffy. His spiffiness is like off the charts. I like him so much I wrote him this Haiku:
Kevin is so bae, Kevin makes my heart fly away, Kevin is so slay.

Bad writing. The book has a lot of vocabulary that needs descriptions, and is impossible to teach to a French class. The plot is extremely flat, with everything happing the the last chapter at an alarming rate. It is extremely confusing, as many nececery transitions between scenes are simply not there. Although this is a beginner french book, there is no need for this extremely lazy writing.
Kevin is kinda fruity and is a Twink femboy. but hear me out, he's female enough. tanya has a GYATTTTTTTTTTT but I would be better dead. game is game. Alphonse is a hotty, hear me out

AMAZING BOOK. some parts were a little difficult considering French is my second language, but it was a fun read. this is my third French novel and it only made me want to read more!!! I love the part when Kevin passes out after he sees the falcon. great book! I would recommend for middle level French readers.

Je veux tuer Kevin Fowler jusqu’il est mort. Il est une problème et un enfant pleurnichard. Je déteste cette livre. Madame Jones, pourquoi? Ce livre est horrible!
