Fallout: A Sam Jameson Conspiracy Thriller

Rate this book
"This is the best writing in decades. Move over, Lee Child."

"Lars Emmerich is right up there with Patterson, Baldacci, Forsyth, and DeMille."

"Some of the best action and spy thriller fiction you will ever read."

Special Agent Sam Jameson's friend and colleague was just murdered in Budapest. It falls to Sam to clean up the mess.

Unsavory, but routine.

Until she discovers she's being followed. And before she can make heads or tails of the situation, she's fighting for her life, alone and outgunned in a strange city.

As Sam claws her way through a ruthless and brutal cabal, she discovers that she's up against one of the most dangerous conspiracies in history.

Fallout is a transcontinental thrill ride full of twists, turns, and pulse-pounding suspense.

You know that feeling when a story gives you goosebumps? I love that feeling.

And the one where you read something that puts a lump in your throat and smoke in your eyes? I love that one too.

And the feeling that you know what's going to happen next, only to find out to your absolute delight that you couldn't have been more wrong? I love that feeling too.

I love reading stories that move me and challenge my assumptions and teach me something. I love the way a great author lures me in and takes me along for a fantastic ride.

I also love to write stories. It's how I spend my days and a good share of my nights, too. I'm on a quest to write the perfect story full of perfect sentences. I don't know if I'm anywhere close, but I enjoy the gentle struggle.

Sam is back from the dead! And dropping right back into the thick of things as usual!

In Fallout, Sam has been sent to Hungary to do a quick check into the death of a fellow agent. Seems straightforward enough that she invites Brock, the oh so hunky boyfriend, to join her in Budapest for some much needed R & R and a little personal time.

But almost as soon as she gets there she is ordered to come home at once by her bosses. They need her back for a Top Secret reason they won't even tell her about. When she knows she's being watched and followed, Sam, being Sam, ignores the boss and goes on the offensive to find out who is following her and why.

It's hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys and Sam is determined to get to the bottom of things.

With Fallout, Mr. Emmerich has once again shown why we so eagerly wait for the next book to come out. The characters have become like old friends and we are fully invested in every outcome, rooting for Sam and her team and holding our breath as we turn each page.

One of the best books I've read in a long time. If you are a fan of Flynn, Child and Patterson, you are in for a real treat with the Sam Jameson series!

This story unfolds in layers and you are with them as each comes to life. The action is intense and Sam Jameson is fantastic. She knows what she is doing no matter how stacked the odds are against her. She takes as good as she gives. I was on the edge of my seat during some of these confrontations. The story is gripping and makes you look to the sky and listen. Each character kept me involved and I actually worried for them as they went along. I was interested in Nero and how his future would play out. Dan and Sam and Brock were easy to like and root for.

Lars Emmerich knows how to draw the reader in and keep them involved. Sam does what she has to do, but she has a heart and that shines through. I really enjoyed this book, it had everything.

Keep them coming, we need more suspenseful books like this one.

Once again, Emmerich has rewarded me with a great storyline!

Relevant in today's world of drones, the NSA and power hungry individuals. I love Sam Jameson, a kick ass believer of justice who battles her fears and takes on those who need to be controlled.
Couldn't put it down! Read it in one day and so bummed I have to wait again for another great read!

Fallout. Lars Emmerich

Homeland Special Agent Sam Jameson has uncovered a well kept secret. Only known to a select few. NSA has many layers and unlimited resources at their disposal. Anyone they target is fair game. They simply disappear. This is a clandestine thriller. An amazing read !!

Couldn't stop

Just up my alley...lots of surprises and unexpected twists, kept me guessing. The characters were likeable and story kept moving. Perfect if you're a Lee Child/John Sandford fan like me.

Sam is back and better than ever. When a fellow agent is killed in Budapest in a supposed car accident, Sam is sent to follow up - but she is followed all the way. Trying to corner one of her tails, she is attacked and severely injured but rescued by unknowns. Back home she is tasked with trying to figure the American-Russian connection to her assault in Budapest. NSA is running an operation that has one man playing God but his deputy is asking questions. Homeland is rounding up and arresting people sending them straight to prison with no opportunity to plead their case. A healthy director dies overnight of what only can be guessed as food poisoning. Sam has to put the puzzle together and when she does heads will roll, but from where she is standing, hers may well be one of them. (I did not buy this book but did get it from the local library)

Just finished reading Fallout. Couldn't put it down for 3days. Political thriller, spies, all the government agencies involved. Author writes very visual. It all comes together and really makes you understand you can't hide from anyone. Stay on the legal side of Life and you may be safe. Pretty scary world we live in. Enjoy the read

I would never, ever have read a book that's sixth in a series unless I'd already read the first five. Luckily, I was well into it before I discovered that it was, indeed a series. I wish I'd started with #1, but at this point I'm not sure I'll go back and catch up. It was a good, interesting read with a good main heroine (Samantha) who is a real bad-ass. I liked her very much.

Another absolute thriller in the Sam Jameson series, which I am enjoying reading in chronological order. I love the way Lars writes, alternating chapters between 3 different, seemingly unrelated story lines, which finally come together at the end. Sam Jameson is an absolute super hero (without a cape), and I can't wait to read the next episode.

Numerous repetition in the book, as though it originally was serialized in a magazine. A modern day, flashy story that needed to be edited to tighten up the structure. Fun but not worthy of the better writers such as Eric Ambler or Helen MacInnes.

I feel like this one didn't need to get written. The last book summed up the case so well and this one crammed a bunch of things in for no reason. Still a decent read.

Great thriller with a female protagonist with some fantastic sentences like “I’m serious as a case of the clap.” There are other sentences which have to be read twice to be appreciated and I really liked this. BUT Sam treads in where angels fear to peep and gets nearly killed.
There are also some improbable situations: Sam is able to get into an airport carrying 2 handguns without getting caught? No eating, drinking or bathroom breaks during Sam's escape from Budapest? I did find some spelling mistakes in the ARC I got, which should have been corrected.
This is an enjoyable book with many twists and turns.
I thank the author for giving me a free advance copy of the book for my review and congratulate him for creating one more great suspense novel.

Emmerich has never disappointed and he doesn't with this one either. Sometimes authors will run a character into the ground, but his main character in this series just keeps getting better. The writing, editing, and plot flow is superb with non-stop action action that makes it impossible to put down from start to finish. I look forward to more from this author.

Each book gets better!

If you like Tom Clancy or Vince Flynn books you'll enjoy Lars Emmerich. I've read them all to date and enjoyed them but I have to say this one was my favorite. I flew through it and can't wait for the next one!
