New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Kristin Miller writes sweet and sassy contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and paranormal romance of all varieties. Kristin has degrees in psychology, English, and education, and taught high school and middle school English before crossing over to a career in writing. She lives in Northern California with her alpha male husband and their two children. She loves chocolate way more than she should and the gym less. You can usually find her in the corner of a coffee shop, laptop in front of her and mocha in hand, using the guests around her as fuel for her next book.
"Planning on doing everything I can to stop them from getting married. Mitch has to see the light. He has to know he's taking the wrong step before he jumps over the edge."-Ryder
"It taught me that life is short, and you have to show people that you love them when you have the chance. You can't wait. You have to capture the moment while it's there, because if you wait for the right one, it'll never come."-Josie
What a Werewolf Wants is the 3rd book in the San Francisco Wolf Pack Series. I didn't read the other two books in this series and I had no problem understanding this paranormal world, or the plot so it can be read as a stand alone. This book is about a werewolf named Ryder. Ryder works as a PI busting cheaters, he no longer believes in love, marriage, or forever. Ryder meets his fated mate Josie, who is a hopelessly romantic matchmaker. Her whole career is about finding true love and happy ever after. Josie is looking for her soulmate, she believes in love at first sight and she wants it all. They both feel the mate pull between them. But they are both fighting it. Ryder's best friend is marrying Josie's sister. Ryder plans on stopping the wedding because he knows his best friend hasn't been honest with the bride-to-be about what he really is. Josie has no plans on letting him break up the happy couple that she matched even if he does claim there are things she and her sister don't know about Mitch. Sparks fly as these two face off while fighting their attraction to each other.
"What do you want, Ryder? You're so hot and cold, you're making my head spin."-Josie
"I want you so much it hurts, but I can't stay away from you, no matter how hard I try." "Ryder?" She cupped his face in her hands as her stomach tumbled. "Stop trying."-Ryder and Josie
Ryder was totally Jaded. He wanted love, but he feared being hurt. he has been hurt before and he has seen it too many times in his line of work that he has given up hope. Ryder was a sweet guy, sexy, and laid back. Ryder was also very stubborn and a tad emo at times. He fought being with his mate tooth and nails. Josie was adorable. She knew what she felt and she trusted her instincts. Josie was a confident woman, beautiful, but still down to earth. Ryder and Josie's relationship was a bumpy, drive you crazy, opposites attract one , but still sweet. They kinda reminded me of Abby and Mike from the movie The Ugly Truth. Though there is some angst, due to the push/pull of their relationship it was a lighter angst read. Mostly this was a cutesy feel good book, that made me smile a lot. It was a nice quick read that flowed well. I loved the ending. I think I might check out the first two books in this series, and I will be reading more from this author in the future.
"If I'm yours," she whispered, knowing he could hear her with his sensitive hearing, "then come and get me."-Josie
In What a Werewolf Wants the matchmaker, Josie, and the cynic, Ryder, arrive at the wedding week celebrations on opposing sides. Josie’s sister Carrie, is marrying the love of her life, Mitch, who is Ryder’s best friend. Josie, is excited for her sister, but it’s also an opportunity for her business to crack the big time. She has a special talent for finding perfect love matches for others, but struggles to find love for herself. Josie’s parents have passed, but she knew they loved each other and uses her parents as a guideline for what she wants for herself. Ryder is a private investigator who specializes in cheating spouses. He grew up seeing the devastation of his parent hurt by cheating and looks at the statistics as proof that no marriage can last. These two don’t particular like what the other stands for. They feel an attraction to each other but it’s not until they touch, that things change for them. You can’t stop FATE.
Ryder hasn’t been a werewolf for long. He and Mitch were attacked by a rogue werewolf and left to work things out on their own. Luckily the local pack helped them to adjust to the changes. He has a very bad experience when he first shifts, that made him feel like a monster. There are a lot of reasons why he thinks Mitch and Carrie are rushing into getting married and he feels like it’s his job to stop or at least slow things down.
Josie is determined that her business succeeds. If fighting Ryder’s objections will get the wedding done and dusted, Josie will take him on. In some ways she understands Ryder, but gets blinded by her possible success in making Carrie and Mitch her 100th successful couple.
Ryder thinks Josie's matchmaking shouldn't be based on what someone writes on a piece of paper, and Josie thinks Ryder is crazy to think that all marriages are doomed. In the end they both realise that there is no formula for love.
Why is What a Werewolf Wants, three stars? It was just kind of blah. Ryder was such a Negative Ned about love and pushes Josie away with his hurtful sentiments. He gets all hot and snarly when she’s around, leads her on, then reminds her not to get ideas for a future and to look elsewhere for love. Josie, on the other hand tells herself she’s heading for heartache, touches him and loses her mind…again and again and again. Her single minded focus on getting her sister married was completely selfish and made me think less of her. I also found her reaction to finding out about werewolves just a bit horrible. It was also a little too corny for me.
What a Werewolf Wants, is not a bad story, it just didn’t rock my world. There is a clinch, fumble and suck that is a little steamy and an intimate scene at the end, but even those didn’t get my heart pumping. Even though this was the first book I’ve read from the author, I didn’t feel lost or at a disadvantage not reading the first two in the San Francisco Wolf Pack series. This is a sweet story, but just didn’t completely work for me.

What a great paranormal romance this proved to be! I am usually wary of the instant love tales but this was so much more than that. Whilst the attraction is there immediately, both are resistant, determined for much of the time to ignore it - and for much of the story when one is willing to give their relationship the other isn’t! Talk about getting hung up on themselves!!! Josie is convinced Ryder is trying to ruin her sister’s big day, so doesn’t trust him despite rampant attraction to him. He doesn’t believe any human can see him as anything but a monster and doesn’t want the heartbreak associated with that. He also doesn’t want his best friend to marry without his bride to be knowing about him being a werewolf and what that entails. Life’s complicated, adding love to the mix can make it wonderful or worrying or both for these characters.
I enjoyed reading this, it was so full of twists and turns I just had to keep reading to see how things could possibly work out! A private investigator so used to finding and revealing the cheating partners, Ryder has such a jaundiced view on the possibility of him ever experiencing true love. I was delighted when he took one of his clients to confront her husband with the lady he’d been meeting - simply brilliant (no, not saying more as that would be a spoiler, but you’ll definitely know what I’m typing about if you read the story!)
The plot, characters, scenarios and pace of this story makes it a delightful one to escape into and one I have no hesitation in highly recommending to anyone who, like me, enjoys shifter romances with plenty of angst and turmoil along their journey to their HEA!
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for this, an honest review.
WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS is a cute, humorous, romance of which I've come to gladly expect from one of Kristin Miller's books. While a tad predictable in the outcome the story was fun and a very quick and enjoyable read. Considering this story takes place around a wedding there are a few amusing wedding hi jinks. To add to the stress the wedding is being filmed which forces a few coded conversations and odd moments since Josie is trying to desperately hide the fact that the groom grows fur on occasion. One of the most hilarious moments is the big werewolf reveal that happens after a very drunken night before the wedding of Josie's sister.
I liked the idea Josie, a successful matchmaker, finally finding her match. She has a special ability to be able to match people perfectly which is pretty cool. I was bummed though that there was no elaboration or explanation for this ability. Her match, Ryder and Josie fit well together and they really do challenge each other to rethink their set points of view as the story progresses and certain secrets of the furry variety are revealed. Josie's sister Carrie and her fiance Mitch are nice secondary characters whose quick courtship I would have loved to read about.
One thing I found a bit odd was the very standalone quality of each of the books in this series are considering the series is about the San Francisco wolf pack. There's no connection to previous couples or even much of a pack involvement in the werewolves' lives. It's not a bad thing, just different from other pack based series' I've come across where the werewolf pack as a whole is a big component of the story.
Wedding drama, furry secrets, and matchmaking hijinks galore create a cute and hilarious story in WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS.
This may have been closer to a 3 star read for me, so I may end up changing that later after I think about it more, we'll see.
What a Werewolf Wants is a pretty good story. It wasn't great, but it wasn't boring either. I definitely had some just one more chapter moments. But it just lacked something. I just can't put my finger on what that something is.
Josie Cole is great at matching couples together. In fact, her sisters upcoming wedding will be her 100th successful match. If all goes well with the wedding, Cole Matchmaking Services will secure a special on tv that will have her business go through the roof! Josie will do anything to make sure everything goes smoothly to secure her tv special. That is until the best man shows up and is doing everything he can to make sure the wedding doesn't happen. Ryder, the grooms best friend, is a PI who specializes in catching cheating spouses. Ryder doesn't think any marriage will last, even under the best of circumstances. So when he finds out his best friend is getting married and is hiding a huge secret and part of himself from his future bride, he just knows the relationship will be doomed. When Josie and Ryder meet during the wedding week festivies, there is instant attraction that neither can deny. Then they realize who they are, both can't stand the idea of being with someone who believes the way they do. One who believes true love can last through anything and the other who thinks it's never possible. As they try to avoid each other, something keeps pulling them together.
Unlucky in love for herself, Josie Cole is a pro at matching other couples and her sister’s wedding will be her one-hundredth match unless private investigator / werewolf Ryder McManus has something to say about it in this enchanting paranormal romance.
Catching cheating spouses has taught Ryder there is no such thing as happily ever after and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the energetic sparks that fly when Ryder finds his fated mate at his best friend’s wedding. The chemistry may sizzle with heated desire between Ryder and Josie but this relationship is more spirited than an active volcano because of their completely opposite view points on love and happily ever after which causes impassioned debates and flaming tempers along with the blazing passion. Strong feisty characters demand the reader’s attention while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot enchants readers with suspense, excitement, charm and romance while causing some spontaneous chuckles.
Excitement and tension builds throughout the story as Josie and Ryder continue to have spirited conversations regarding the rightness of the wedding while Ryder fights his smoldering desires for Josie due to his personal demons and of course his “werewolf” secret. The intriguing events draw the reader into this lively romance as the well written scenes paint vivid details that make it easy for the readers to become immersed in the story.
I really enjoy each and every visit with the San Francisco Wolf Pack but I think What a Werewolf Wants may be my favorite because the author spiced this story up with some extra excitement in the romance and secret telling elements of the story which added to Jodi’s feisty personality and Ryder’s sexy but doom and gloom attitude made the story a delightful and fun read that I just had to finish before I could go to sleep.
I really just love Kristin Miller's books, and What a Werewolf Wants was no exception to this. Cute, a bit predictable, and a touch a humor, What a Werewolf Wants was a book that I tore right through. I read from beginning to end without stopping, wanting to know how the story would be shaped.
While it's Josie and Ryder's story, Carrie and Mitch dominate a pretty hefty portion of the story. I adored both couples, as they were just a whole lot of fun. Ryder is quite intense and what you'd definitely call an alpha male. Josie is all too happy to go toe to toe with him. Together, they make some pretty nice fireworks.
Short and sweet, Josie and Ryder's story was a treat to read. And now - I am totally stoked for the next book in this series! I love Kristin Miller's books - they are always great reads.
Sparks fly – literally – when a werewolf who doesn’t believe in happily ever after meets his fated mate in What a Werewolf Wants. Kristin Miller’s third San Francisco Wolf Pack story has a sexy werewolf hero, a hopeless romantic for a heroine, a dash of humor, and the hope that true love will conquer all – how can you resist?
Josie is a vivacious heroine who is easy to adore. She’s a smart businesswoman with an almost supernatural gift for matching people together. Her success at doing so only solidifies her belief in true love, which is why she’s shocked that the best man at her sister’s wedding wants to keep his best friend from reaching the altar. Ryder doesn’t believe most people are meant to be together forever, especially not werewolves like himself and his best friend who can live for a thousand years with one mate. Ryder’s cynicism makes sense, given that he’s a private investigator who specializes in infidelity. Having been burned by love himself, there’s no way he’ll take a chance on revealing his whole self – paws and all – to a woman who might see him as nothing more than a monster.
Ryder and Josie’s clash of wills set the stage for a battle we know Ryder will lose. Because Josie is his Luminary, or fated mate, she gets under his skin like no other. Their mutual attraction steams up the pages of What a Werewolf Wants and both Josie and Ryder begin to see that what they thought they wanted for themselves pales in comparison to what they could have together. It’s easy to become invested in not only their romance, but that of Carrie and Mitch, the bride and groom whose wedding starts as a bone of contention between Josie and Ryder. The two couples are each endearing in their own way and I was rooting for everyone to get their happily ever after.
What a Werewolf Wants is the third book in the San Francisco Wolf Pack series, but as I have not yet read The Werewolf Wears Prada or Beauty and the Werewolf I can safely say that Josie and Ryder’s story can be read as a standalone. I was incredibly intrigued by Ms. Miller’s werewolves and the structure of their world, and I’m eager to learn more. I adored What a Werewolf Wants and I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the San Francisco Wolf Pack books.
FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS is the third instalment in the San Francisco Wolf Pack series; while I thought book 2 was a bit weaker, Kristin Miller really nails it with WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS! Josie Cole’s sister Carrie is getting married, and this will be the hundredth successful match for Josie’s Cole Matchmaking Services, which means a huge career boost and a TV special. However, Josie is still single. Carrie is marrying Mitch, a friend of Ryder McManus, who will be his best man. Ryder has given up on love, which is unfortunate as he is a werewolf and that means a much shorter life span, without his fated mate. Ryder is a private investigator dealing mostly in catching cheaters, which doesn’t help his outlook. He thinks Mitch must tell Carrie he’s a werewolf; a few days from the wedding, and Mitch is not saying a word. When they first meet, Josie thinks Ryder is really hot, and vice versa, but worse for Ryder: Josie is his Luminary, his fated mate, the one with whom he is destined to spend his life with, and she is a mortal to boot! And Ryder is determined to stop the wedding, while Josie is adamant that it must happen, and things go from bad to worse when Ryder mentions that Mitch has not been entirely truthful…
The writing is flawless, there are no lulls in the story, no filler, and the pacing is impeccable. There are a few hilarious moments as well as funny banter, and Ms. Miller adds to her already fascinating world. The characters, both principal and secondary, are all equally interesting, and I loved how the two couples handled their issues. The friendship between Josie and Carrie, as well as between Mitch and Ryder felt entirely genuine. But best of all was the way Ms. Miller dealt with how Mitch and Ryder reveal what they are; it was done very convincingly, and I felt that’s how it would happen in real life.
WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS offers an excellent look at what make relationships work, and coupled with the paranormal angle, it’s even more compelling. It was absorbing to see things evolve and watch the bond get stronger between Ryder and Josie, apart from the fated mate thing. There might have been instalust there, and again everything was entirely plausible; Ryder and Josie had to work on their issues to get their Happy Ever After, and all this was done brilliantly! Excellent read!

I will only take a quick peak and then go and read the next book on my to review book list. That was my honest intentions, an hour and a half ago, but once I started the story I could not stop. I could not make myself put my kindle down until I had read the very last sentence. The next book just had to wait, sorry.
You will both laugh and gasp from the very beginning of "What A Werewolf Wants". Jodie and Ryder are at a crossroads over the upcoming nuptials of her sister Carrie and Ryder's best friend Mitch. She's the wedding planner who believes in love at first sight and happily ever after. He is the P.I. who sees the seamier side of marriage and doesn't believe love last. Ryder lives with secrets and knows Mitch's as well. Ryder wants to stop the wedding and Josie wants her happy, but worries what secrets are being kept and was Carrie going to be hurt. Ryder and Josie are both convinced they are right. Ryder fights his destiny with Josie by pushing her away. He needs to remember to be careful what you ask for because the fates may just give it to you. Follow Mitch and Carrie as well as Ryder and Josie as they take a walk on the path to true love.
I loved Kristin Miller's, "What A Werewolf Wants" so much I immediately purchased book 1 and 2 in the series. Sadly for me I will have to wait a while before I can read them as I have numerous books waiting ahead of them. I hope the series continues for a long time. Kristin Miller's style has quickly made her one of my must have authors.
Josie Cole is a matchmaker and she has a business matching other couples to their mates. She takes joy in matching up couples and showing them Her sister’s upcoming wedding will be her 100th match and her crowning moment but private investigator / werewolf Ryder McManus has different views on how Josie and her job. He plans to prove her wrong and he is going to prevent the wedding. He is the best man for the upcoming wedding and he is also best friend to the groom. He has seen, due to his job, too many bad things happen so he plans to stop the wedding and save his friend from getting married. On top of wedding going down, because the wedding will be her 100th match, Josie is being taped for a TV special so there is the added stress there. Ryder meets Josie and finds her to be his “mate”, his one and true special person to spend his life with. See there is a secret that the groom has hidden from his soon to be wife , one that will turn the wedding upside down, and could ruin everything. One that Ryder wants him to tell…even knowing this after finding out Josie is his fated mate. Will Ryder get his way or will be wise up and realize he has what he has always wanted , right there and do the right thing? Will Josie get Ryder to realize love does always win… I have to say, this was a rollercoaster of a ride story that kept me on my toes. I was rooting for all involved. I defiantly wanted the MC to get the HEA but I also wanted the supporting characters to get their marriage. I have to say, the hot scenes were great –had me turning the fan on. Ryder was on alpha wolf who was so confused about what he really wanted. Josie was one woman who knew she wanted a piece of Ryder but didn’t know if she could keep him. There was some great humor written in. The flow was great and the ending was awesome. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
My rating: 4.8 stars *****

Kristin Miller is a great storyteller and I have really enjoyed her werewolf books. WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS is part of her San Francisco Wolf Pack series and I enjoyed getting to know the new couple.
Josie is a very successful matchmaker and her sister marrying her match brings her successful matching spree up to 100. She really wants everything to go smoothly to land a television special, but the grooms best friend is hell bent on throwing a wrench in her plans. To make matters worse, she is extremely attracted to him and can't seem to get him out of her head. Ryder is a werewolf and is a bit broken when it comes to falling in love. The attraction between him and Josie is pretty intense, but he doubts himself and her ability to love him for who he is so he pushes her away a lot and that becomes a bit frustrating after a while. When the truth comes out about him being a werewolf both Josie and Ryder have some things that need to be worked out.
One thing I really wish this series would do is incorporate the characters from the previous books. All the characters are a part of the San Francisco Pack, but we never see them after their book is over. I really love updates and it makes me sad not knowing how they are doing. It just doesn't feel like a pack to me.
WHAT A WEREWOLF WANTS was a cute story and I was able to read it pretty fast. I think there could have been more detail involved in the storyline and the characters. I am really hoping that Josie's gift comes up in future books and is able to bring the pack together into one book like I have been wanting. This has been a cute series so far and if your looking for something light, it might just be the series for you.

Oh, I liked this book !! It really did make me grin ;0) This is Ryder and Josie's tale. He's disillusioned with love, she's her own "Happy Ever After and True Love Forever" !! gal.
What could happen when these two meet ?......lots. Especially as Ryder is a private investigator who specialise's in bringing to light cheating spouses and Josie's job is match making perfect mates, who want love.
They meet at a wedding and inta-lust kicks in. Ryder is not really that enthusiastic about the happy couples nuptials as Ryder suspects that the groom is hiding something very important from his bride-to-be. Not the best start for any marriage.
Well, lets just say both Ryder and Josie have their own agenda for the happy couple.
This was book 3 in the series and although I had not read the other two, I was very easily able to follow the thread. This book was of the paranormal romance genre and it surrounds hunky chunky werewolves......yum, yum.
I very much enjoyed reading about these two, plenty of wit and smoldering attraction. I was secretly team Josie (team true love !).
A great read, well done Kristin and many thanks for the opportunity x

I really enjoyed What a Werewolf Wants! This is book three in the series but you can read as a standalone. This is the story of Josie, expert matchmaker and unlucky in love herself. Enter Ryder, PI/wolf shifter that doesn’t believe in love or mates. In Ryder’s world wolves have mates called Luminaries but Ryder doesn’t believe it’s possible to be with somebody that long. He can’t fight the pull to Josie though and learns along the way that what he believed isn’t how it has to be.
You also get a lot of Josie’s sister Carrie who is set to marry Ryder’s friend Mitch. Ryder is insisting that Mitch tell Carrie what he is before he walks down the aisle. You will get to see the results of this and how it affects Josie and Ryder.
This was a fun read and I was pleasantly surprised. I love shifter stories and I really enjoy stories with boneheaded men that can’t get it together. Josie and Ryder were feisty, fun, and smoking hot. I will definitely check out the other books in this series.
Ryder is part of the San Fransisco pack, he was turned against his will but enjoys the benefits of being a werewolf.
Josie is a matchmaker, she has a knack of matching up couples. She hasn't been lucky in love herself but then again she's been busy building her business up and helping her sister with wedding plans.
Mitch and Carrie are getting married in a week and there's lots of fun events to attend and it appears Josie is finally going to meet the best man.
There's an instant attraction that they both feel, but Ryder isn't in to forever happily ever after. So expect a reluctant wolf that tries to keep away, which is a bit tough when his seeing her everyday for the next week!
This is pnr so its insta love and lust which really only works in paranormal books, I enjoy some insta love but it's not for everyone.
Ive read a lot of this authors shifter books and always find them easy to read with pleasant characthers and good plot. This book lacked a little something, but I still enjoyed it.
Josie Cole will be a famous matchmaker if she can pull off her 100th perfect match, but Ryder McManus desires to ruin her plans in Kristin Miller's What a Werewolf Wants. This book worked as a standalone title, although it is the third book in the San Francisco Wolf Pack series. I don't usually buy into the whole fated mates type of romances, but Josie and Ryder seemed so incompatible, despite great sexual chemistry, I was curious at how Miller would get them together in the end. Josie believes in love so strongly that anything seemed possible. Although Ryder is quite pessimistic about romance and love, his desire to help his best friend made me like him. The glimpses into a werewolf's world created wonderful tension and conflict upon the pages. Opposites definitely attract in What a Werewolf Wants by Kristin Miller, and I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the San Francisco Wolf Pack series.
This is the 3rd book in the San Francisco Pack series, and this series just keeps getting better. I have always been a fan of the fated mates theme and I love the concept of the wolves finding their Luminaries. Since it's supposed to be such a rare occurrence, it has got me thinking as to how Josie has been pairing up so many wolves with their Luminaries. Since she has such a knack for it, I can't help thinking that something HUGE is in play with fate matching up so many. So I am going to sit tight and see how this plays out.
I've read other books by this author in the Seattle Pack series and San Francisco series, loving each book more and more. This one was no exception. I loved the way they intertwined Mitch and Carrie's love story in with Josie and Ryder's romance. It was always exciting to see what each couple would do. It had a great ending and I'm looking forward to seeing what the author will cook up next. Five glittery stars!
One of the things I love most about romance novels, no matter the genre, is that they all point out that honesty and communication are key in a relationship. Ryder and Josie point this out in a humorous and sexy way. The chemistry is there but secrets keep them apart. What a Werewolf Wants is a fun read that can be read standalone.

Although this is part of a series i did not feel that i lot anything by not having read the previous books in the series.
That being said, this is exactly what i expect from this author, with an almost predictable outcome and plot line.
Both Ryder who wan the happy couple to split up as his friend is hiding a secret and Josie have a point to prove. Josie who can find someone forever person believes in love for other, but Ryder a man who has been burned before does not.
It is trying to prove each other wrong that they actually get to know each other and Josie and her sister find out their secret. We do not see any of the other member of the San Francisco pack, but we do get to see Ryder and the groom Mitch turn into wolfs.
I admit it, I'm a masochist and I hate myself for it. I get not believing in love, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but seriouslyy, why force it on other? The H is a love hating annoying guy who ahtes on married people because of his job or whatever. Well, newsflash sweetie, marriages fail, it happens. People cheat, that happens too. But my grandparents lived to be 99 and they were still together so suck on that asshole. The believes a little too much in happy ever after in an unrealistic way. I get that it's a supernatural book but it's like writers are no more trying to impress real readers. Everyone is trying to be the next Stephanie Meyer and to that, I have one thing to say, Twilight was stupid and badly written and so was this. Rant over.
Oh poor Ryder never had a chance to be his usual cynical self with his beautiful Josie around. He was instantly attracted and could not stay away, no matter what he tried. Josie was there, every moment, making him squirm. Together, they were electric. So darn hot.
Meh. It wasn’t dull, repetitive, and predictable. There were a total of 2 “adult scenes” both of which were mind numbing, and less than sexy. The only good thing about this book is it is a quick and easy read.
The plot to this book was very basic. Mediocre. Granted it's a short book, a little over 200 pages, but it still lacked so much. The characters were boring and irritated me. For a fated mates romance, it also felt like the romance was an afterthought and barely played a role in the plot.
I’ve read a few of Kristin’s books, and the first one in this series, though somehow I missed book two, and this proved to be another fun, light read.
Josie runs a matchmaking service, a very successful one and a TV programme wants to film her latest wedding. It just happens to be her sister, who’s been with Mitch just eight weeks but they are solidly in love. The wedding preparations are in full swing, the TV crew at every corner and Josie is very excited. Then along comes gorgeous hunk Ryder, who is best man, long time friend of the groom and ...determined to stop the marriage. His reasons are twofold, mainly that he just doesn't believe in love, but also he knows Mitch hasn’t told Carrie something very very important, namely that every now and then he turns into a big, hairy werewolf, and is part of a Pack. Ryder has his own issues about that, he feels not only is love exaggerated and doesn’t really exist, but that werewolves and Normals don’t mix. His job as a PI shows him cheating spouses every day of the week, and he’s his own traumas about revealing the wolf to Normals...
Of course he can only tell Josie that he doesn't believe in love, can’t reveal anything about the werewolf side, and yet there’s a sizzle between them that he knows means she’s a match for him, his Luminary, the one person that’s just for him – he’s determined though not to give in to it. There’s an on-going battle of Ryder trying to persuade Mitch he’s wrong and not to marry, and Josie trying to get everything on track for the cameras and convince Ryder that what they have is special. Its a fun read, some great humour and a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Carrie’s new name is a case in point!!There is though a semi-serious point that relavant to real life, about not being ashamed of who/what you are, of knowing yourself, taking chances and giving yourself and others a shot at life and love.
Its a fun read, one for when you want a change from the heavy dramas or the doom and gloom books, when you just want to relax and smile and enjoy a read with a HEA.
Sometimes you need a book that you know will have you closing it with a smile on your face…
Josie is a matchmaker- one who has a perfect record. That is right all of her matches last. Which is why when she got Mitch and her sister together, she didn’t worry about how fast things were going. She is confident in her matches and her sister’s wedding is going to be perfect. That is if the interfering best man Ryder doesn’t ruin things.
Josie is a gal that has a good heart. While she hasn’t found the love of her life yet, she knows she will. She is happy with matching her clients together in the meantime. It is refreshing that we have a main character that is not afraid of being alone. One who is okay standing on her own two feet and being successful.
Ryder is cynical. His job and his childhood have made him this way. He has seen too many couples end due to cheating spouses. He doesn’t think that Carrie and Mitch have what it takes to make a marriage work. Right now Mitch is a little short on the trust and honesty part of marriage. Since Mitch is Ryder’s best friend he does need to save him from himself. Ryder is completely honest with Josie when he meets her- he is here to stop the wedding. Maybe not completely honest, he leaves out the part about being her fated mate. Josie can’t let that happen. Her sister’s happiness is everything to her. So she is set on making sure Ryder doesn’t mess with her sister’s perfect day.
Goodness when these two get together the temperature in the room rises. H-O-T-T (yeah, I had to throw in the extra T)! Josie’s reaction to the werewolf reveal is perfect. For starters she has a reaction- which is a large step up from some books where the gal is like ok. Ryder’s reaction to her being his mate is pretty awesome too.
This is the third book in the series. Yet, each of them could be read as a stand-alone. Enjoyable read that goes great with a cup of Earl Gray tea.
