After tracking a serial killer through six brutal murders, detective Wade Callahan didn't know where to turn. Then Tierney Doyle, an empath and the police force's secret weapon, joined the search. Wade was immediately attracted to the beautiful blonde—but he didn't trust her abilities. He didn't trust her.
Until Tierney uncovered a fact he couldn't deny. Someone was watching Wade—someone who might be connected to the recurring nightmare he'd had since childhood. And as he and Tierney both came into the killer's sights, Wade knew he'd face down death to keep this woman by his side.
------- Well, the back cover blurb says "Never trust a blonde...", and the description inside says the heroine is a variation of blonde. On the book cover she is in no way a blonde of any type. I guess you can just pretend it is bad lighting then. Just a bit annoying so needed to say something. The book itself was great.
The plot itself was ok, but there were just some parts of the book where I couldn’t follow what was going on. It wasn’t the story, it was that the author made some leaps in emotional logic that left me thinking “where did that come from?” and “what is he/she talking about?” Because the heroine is an empath, I guess the author thought she didn’t have to say what was happening exactly – just give vague impressions. Like, for example, there was a scene where the heroine “reaches out” to the hero to “feel” his emotions…and then she gasps at what she finds…then she and the hero have a vague conversation about what she felt. I never knew what emotions she felt and why he had them. It was never made clear.
A decent book, but the suspense part is over too quickly and tied up too neatly at the end with little effort on the hero and heroine's parts. Overall, much more believable than some of the other.
