"A redhead girl says she wants to go to the moon, I gotta take her".
Opening with Wolverine trudging through Antarctica with a dead polar bear covering him for warmth, you know Hickman is going to bring it as usual. Hope also gives Wolverine a ride. This scene could have easily have been creepy, given Wolverines history with redheads, but isn't, because their relationship isn't like that. Instead, it feels more like a father/daughter relationship. Wolverine doesn't want to kill Hope, but he feels like he has to. In this issue, we go all over the Marvel universe. From Wakanda to Latveria. We're only in each place for a few panels, but it's nice to see Marvel making use of their big universe for the event. We also get a sense of how strong the Phoenix is, if being told over and over again wasn't enough: the Phoenix takes out Thor.
And the issue ends on the moon, because why the fuck not?
It's an awesome sight to see more battles but it's gibberish. Nobody gets killed. C'mon, what's will all that superpowers? BTW, the illustration is still worse than ever.
