Starla Kimbrell might be on the worst date of her life, but she didn't expect to find herself walking home alone on a dark dirt road after her latest mistake leaves her in a cloud of dust. Luckily, salvation comes in the form of Jared Stanton-single dad of two, sexy cowboy, blue eyes like whoa. If she isn't careful, she might just let him become the latest in her string of amorous disasters. Jared doesn't consider himself on the market. His first love left his heart in pieces that even a marriage to someone else couldn't salvage, and now that he's divorced and focusing on his twin daughters, he isn't looking to put another woman in the shadow of the one who crushed him. Still, the stranded tattoo artist intrigues him, while her unstable ex-boyfriend makes him worry for her safety. Is the guy just a mouthy jerk, or is Starla in real danger? Starla quickly learns that not everyone in her life is thrilled with her new interest in Jared. Their cautious courtship is rocked when tragedy strikes and the world as she and her coworkers know it is shattered. Faced with a situation she can't handle, she turns to the only man who has ever made her feel truly safe, even as she learns that Jared's protective instincts might be destructive enough in their own way to rip them apart for good.

Glorious Recipe for Disaster

An extra huge bucket filled with a stupid and annoying cow of a heroine.

A quarter bucket of irritating hero.

A plate of an aggravating ex-wife.

Add in coz heroine and hero can't get them out of their minds. Awww, unrequited love must be so beautiful. *sarcasm* And let's babble about it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. We need to spice up the batter, after all.

A truckload of exes (off page) coz, you know, said heroine has to fuck practically every fucked-up male creature she bumps into. I quote: Hot sociopaths were her specialty.

A few pinches of fuckedupness because…well, she fucks up every-fucking-thing. But then she seems to have this Come-to-Jesus-Moment, like she'd never been here before. She'd never felt this way with anyone before. Yeah. Right. Let's panic. Not. *cue eye roll*

Fill a pan with boiling oral diarrhea, especially her inner ramblings. *barf*

Whip out the cheese grater and start to rasp their dialogue with swift and strong movements.

Gratinate the bloody thing in your oven at the highest possible temperature in order to eviscerate the heroine's stupidity.

Et voilà!

Oh. Oh God.

Shoot. I forgot the fucking icing.

Mix the waterworks, immaturity and a huge bowl of sugar and you're ready to zip through Cheeseville.

Nah. I don't think so. *waves white flag*

This is so…

Good grief.

I should have known this would be another bust when I read the blurb with that moronic whoa comment. Made me roll my eyes then and there. But, no, I had to give it a try because I liked a couple of the author's books in the past. We sometimes outgrow authors and that's exactly what happened here.

Never again. This was my last book by Cherrie Lynn.

This chick is un-fucking-believable. FOR FRIGGIN' YEARS, she's so bloody hung up on let's-put-him-on-a-God-like pedestal and swoon and sniff all over him. Argh. And the hero is hardly any better because he's still hung up over his ex-girlfriend They were high school sweethearts until they were 18 or 19. He must be close to 30 now. Mini Närve!! Grow the hell up already, will you!? Both of you, that is. Saying this situation is ridiculous doesn't even begin to cover it.

Shelly is Jared's ex-wife.

(…): the day Shelly began seriously dating some other guy she wanted to bring around Jared’s girls. He didn’t think he would be okay with that. When it came to Ashley and Mia, he didn’t entrust their care to anyone except immediate family. Anyone.

Puleeze. What kind of judgmental bullshit is that?

Her peaches-and-cream scent wafted hauntingly toward him, carried on the light breeze. He found himself inhaling it deeply. Wondering if it was at its most intense in the soft hollow of her neck, or the valley between her breasts… or even in the soft crease behind her knees.

Riiiiight. The cheesy writing was wafting hauntingly toward me. Geez. Now I'm a haunted creature. I found myself taking a deep breath because I really must stop inhaling that type of book. *chokes* I'm wondering if it was at its dumbest when I started or when I finally gave up.

Even without the beard, his virility would be enough to have her crossing her legs tight against the sweet ache between her thighs, but with the beard, he had her positively throbbing there. Just by sitting close to her. Wow.

Wow. Yeah, this is so awful, I'm pretty much speechless. *head throbs in agony*

It’s not like he can’t have sex because he has kids. People with kids have sex all the time. How else would they end up with more kids?
But she’d done it; she’d accomplished her mission. She’d had dinner with someone she was powerfully attracted to and hadn’t jumped vagina first into anything. She should be celebrating her victory. She should be feeling good about herself. So why, then, did it feel like such a loss?

Her inner ramblings are so dumb. I'm positive her few brain cells must be stuck in her vagina.

Imagine, all those one-kid families. Uh-huh…am I ever glad that we all found time to have more sex to have a second kid. I'm pretty sure that some of you even have three, four, five, six or seven. Or twelve? Damn. You must have been mighty busy between the sheets. I feel kinda left out because I only had two kids. Oh, wait. One can have sex and quit procreating. I mean we all come to that point where we've had enough and just want to have a little sweaty fun, right?

Starla, realizing her mouth had gone desert dry, swallowed around the lump building in her throat.
Get out, get out, gotta get out.
Yep. She absolutely did not think she could face the physical product of immense love without going into screaming hysterics. The happy sounds of reunion drifted in from the office…

See? Crappy inner ramblings.

“You can’t run with shit without getting it on you, Starla.” She cringed at his tone, hearing the accusation, the I told you so, the… oh fuck, the disappointment. “Trouble is, it gets on everyone else around you too.” Shame blazed a trail through her as the gravity of his words hit home.

I did cringe too at the subpar quality of this book.

“Yeah, well, having sampled my fair share of ‘other guys,’ I’m somewhat of an expert on what most of them would do.” Oh shit, should she have said that, given he was two vaginas removed from virginity?

I'd rather you zip it, Starla. Thank you.

It was maybe a little premature to think she could possibly be moving on. This thing she’d had for had gone on too strong for too long—one night of getting her pussy licked wouldn’t undo years of pain and frustration over that man. She knew that. And she shouldn’t be resentful it had gone on for so long.

Premature? After all those years? WHEN exactly had you planned on moving on? Licking your cunt is a waste of saliva anyway.

“Hey, I’m a dumbass. I didn’t even think. If you want to change, I’m sure I can dig something up. You’re probably freezing.”
“I’m actually pretty dry now.” Everywhere but between my legs. “It’s okay.”
“Sorry. I suck as a host.”
You can totally suck—“No, you’re awesome.”

Banalities to the nth.

Looked at her so intensely, she wondered how her soul would survive being pierced so deeply. “You haven’t ruined anything. When it happens for us, Starla, you’re going to remember it for the rest of your life.” Oh. Oh God.

Oh. Oh God. My soul can't take it anymore.

Read at your own risk.

It’s been awhile since fans have last hung out with the crew from Dermamania. Brian Ross, Ghost, Janelle, Starla, Candace, Macy and do readers remember Macy’s old boyfriend? His name is Jared and he’s the guy who got his heart crushed when she moved on without him with Ghost. This is Starla who is a tattoo artist at the shop and longtime friends with the gang (secretly in love with Brian) and Jared’s love story!

Starla meets Jared on the side of the road as yet another bad choice of a boyfriends backfires on her. Jared pulls over to offer help and he’s everything Starla ever wanted in a guy. He’s chivalrous, sexy, a father of two twin girls (marriage fell a part because of his strong feelings for Macy Rodgers) and so an unlikely friendship blooms between these two!

”He radiated warmth and protection, and she soaked it up like an old, dry sponge. She’d been starved of it most of her life, hadn’t she? Maybe it had been her own doing. Maybe she’d deserved it for some of the choices she’d made.”

description

There isn’t any instant love in this story as the two quickly form a friendship and learn to confide in one another. They expose all their flaws as well as how hung up they are on Brian and Macy. I loved the pacing and I didn’t even mind the deranged ex Max.

”Maybe it was because she and Jared, from the very night they met, had begun from a place of brutal honesty—he saw her fuckups, he knew her ridiculous infatuation. She saw his guilt and his inability to let go of his past love. They were well acquainted with each other’s truths.”

description

Starla had more growing up to do and some better choices for herself. Both characters were great and made a wonderful couple.

description

I truly enjoyed this story but I wish that the author will actually write more about them, perhaps a novella? I felt that they ended up together then BAM the story was done with an epilogue. I want her to play stepmom, I want horseback rides, I want Christmases, I want to bask in their love and get through some ups and downs together pretty please Cherri Lynn!!!!

Overall, I've enjoyed this series and it saddens me to give the last book such a low rating. My dislike of both the hero and heroine (especially the heroine), and the fact they spent most of the story lamenting over their unrequited love for two other characters , ruined this book for me. Thank heavens for the amount of page time Brian (love him!) and Ghost were given. They are the only reason I finished this book.

These are his thoughts when he saw the ow that he was in love in the whole book marry

“The guests stood, and the woman who’d once been the embodiment of all of Jared’s dreams walked at her father’s side to marry someone else. She was beautiful. Yeah, he’d be lying if he said he didn’t feel a little tug in his chest, but it was by no means the shard of pain it would have been earlier this year”

but he still felt something and this is the epilogue I felt like the h was second best I really hate books like this

It PAINS ME to rate Watch Me Fall 2 stars. I love this series...HARD. Evan, Brian, Ghost, Ian...I adore all these hot and sexy men and their love stories. Jared was a such a sweet heart, I was able to overlook his constant lovesick hangups over loosing Macy's heart. He was sexy, charismatic and a great dad.

Starla destroyed this read for me from beginning to end. She was beyond selfish, childish and annoying - she frustrated the shit out of me. What turned me off the most was her unrequited love for Brian. It was constant and vexing. I mean, come on, the guy is married and she was his wife's friend. There was nothing likable or lovable about her. Starla's foolish actions and poor judgement hurt the most important people in her life. There was no getting over her character's attitude/obsession in order for me to enjoy the read.

I'm so broken-hearted this installment did not work for me.

4.5 stars! I found out a few weeks ago that this book was releasing and when it did I was all over it! This is one of my favorite authors/series....Brian Ross being an absolute favorite of mine. When I read the synopsis, I remembered Starla but Jared didn't ring a bell at first. Then it hit me and I was so anxious to get started. Jared made this book for me. He was absolutely amazing and I desperately wanted him over Macy. I'm glad Starla was able to find her "one" as well. I love all the characters from Dermamania and it was so nice getting to read more about them. I can't put my finger on it (other than fantastic writing) but you feel like you are right there with the group and experiencing everything right along with them.

I have to say that Jared and Starla as a couple surprised me, but opposites attract (look at Ghost and Macy!) They really made a great couple and I loved reading about Starla with Jared's girls, Ashley and Mia. Jared didn't come off too strong, giving Starla time to figure out what she wanted as well as deciding for himself. Watching that happen gave me all the feels and I loved every bit of it. Once they got together, they were explosive!! Then there is the element of suspense with Starla's crazy ex and Jared shows his protective side by taking matters into his own hands to make sure that Starla is safe. I loved that Jared and Ghost teamed up to get that done!

I wish the story were longer... I could read about these characters forever!

I have no clue how I missed the release of the fifth in the Ross Siblings Series a few months ago. But shame on me. In Watch Me Fall we get Starla’s story with a pairing of character that we met briefly in Leave Me Breathless (Macy & Ghost), Jared (Macy’s ex). Starla has been doing nothing but making mistake after mistake when it comes to selecting the men in her life. But the one man she really wants is one she can’t have. Jared is no stranger to longing for someone, even when there is someone else in the picture.

When Jared stumbles across Starla on the side of the road, rescuing her turns into intrigue and morphs into so much more as they share their forbidden feelings and find something so much greater than what they thought they wanted.

I really, really enjoyed Starla’s story. Although Jared was easy to love – Starla was my favorite part of the duo. She had so much strength that had been beaten out of her over the years and I just could not help but fall in absolute love with her.

I am assuming this is our final book of this series and if so, the only thing that it was missing was a few cameos from all of the prior in the series. So part of me is hoping that there might be one more in the works that will bring everyone together for one last hurrah.

Fans of this series will love Starla’s story and for new readers – this can be read as a standalone, although I do recommend reading all of the books.

Caution Spoilers ahead:

This book should be called "Watch Me Settle". I have loved the other books from this series. I'm so sorry to have to say it but this book was awful! Hero and Heroine need to grow up. They are hung up on other people for the entire book including the epilogue! Starla confesses her love to the object of her affection. Why? I have no idea. The person she loves will never, ever leave his wife. But he did throw her a bone and told her if his wife never came into the picture he would have dated Starla. WTF??? I can't even figure out what to say. Then Jared is a total jerk to the woman he loves (I don't mean Starla). He says maybe two words to her in this book. He won't even look at her sometimes. Then at the end he watches her marry someone else and it tugs on his heart. WTF???? Just a word of warning to Starla and Jared: you will for sure find yourself dumped like a bad habit if the person that your boyfriend/girlfriend loves ever becomes available. Please do yourself a favor and skip this book. I'm sorry because this author is a favorite of mine. I'm so sorry this review is harsh but I feel like my time was totally wasted:(

I am so conflicted with feelings about this story.
While I enjoyed it for the most part, I still had some issues with it that are lingering on the brain.

Jared Stanton & Starla Kimbrell are two characters that will gnaw at your emotions, yet have you falling in love with them all the same.

When Starla is literally kicked out of a car and stranded to walk home, Jared happens to find her on the side of the road and offers her a ride.

These two had issues GA-LORE, yet their honesty about their issues from the very beginning was appreciated. All their dirty laundry was put out to air, which rarely occurs in many of these romance stories we divulge.

Starla – hopelessly in love with her best friend Brian, who is happily married and a new father. Her unrequited love for Brian consumes her being.
Jared – hopelessly holding on to Macy… a girl he has known most of his life, was the love of his life but the feelings were never reciprocated. His obsession with Macy caused the end of his marriage to Shelly, his ex-wife and mother of their twin girls, Mia & Ashley.

This deluge of feelings for other people consumed me in the most frustrating way, yet I understood their brokenness over this.

Starla and Jared were literally night & day and at times I had to really open up the mind to fully understand their growing feelings for one another. Starla was hell bent on being destructive, choosing all the wrong paths in life because she felt underserving of live since she couldn’t have the man she truly loved.
Brian was hell bent on holding on to a past that was long gone.

There were times that I absolutely LOVED Starla (her sassiness, spitfire ways) and moments where I wanted to choke the chick. Jared I loved more than I wanted to choke because he accepted Starla’s past transgressions and really just wanted to see if this could go somewhere.

All in all – the story line was good, the sex was hot, the ending was expected and all feelings for others eventually dissipates.

I was so excited when I saw a new book in this series. However that quickly waned as I started it. Within a couple of pages I almost quit reading when there was a text message and the word "prolly". Really??? I can't stand when people shorten words, in fact I probably am the only person in the world who writes in full sentences while texting. Big hot button issue for me.

Things didn't get better for me as the story unfolded. I couldn't stand how Starla went on and on in her head about how in love she was with Brian, how she would never break up his happy home, but it was eating her alive. Then there was Jared with much the same thoughts about Maya. And we are supposed to believe that these two will end up a couple. Nope, don't even care to read it.

I finally decided to quit when everyone at the tattoo shop started to give Starla grief over her date and the mystery ride home she got. I get that Starla is a walking train wreck, but come on, she's a grown woman and can take care of herself despite making some bad decisions along the way.

In the end this one just isn't for me.

Warning: Harsh comments about this book.

This was the mantra in my head as I slogged through book:

 photo booze_zps48429621.gif

Starla had to be one of the most annoying characters I've read in a long time. I stopped counting how many times I yelled "Shut Up" at her endless blubbering. Jared should have turned his truck around when he found her on the side of the road.

The one star is for Brian and Candace.

I really did like this storyline and I love anything Cherrie Lynn writes. I just didn't quite feel the depth of the connection between Starla and Jared the same way I felt it with every other couple in this series. I wish there'd been more to solidify their connection, to really convince me that they'd found their true love after everything they'd each been through. I knew it but I didn't really KNOW it the way I did with the others. But, still, it was an enjoyable read. Anything that brings me back to Dermamania and reunites me with Ghost and Brian is well worth the read.

Well, it looks like I'm in the minority again. Except this time I'm not one of the only ones that disliked the book but actually liked it. It feels good!

I understand the bad reviews and why most felt the way they did. Was Starla annoying? Well, yes, yes she was. But she didn't bother me a great deal. I really liked Jared and I didn't think I would. I didn't feel like these two settled for each other at all. In my opinion, they went so long thinking they were still in love with Macy and Brian and believing that those feelings were the reasons for all their hang ups with other relationships. I thought it was clear how Jared and Starla were starting to feel about each other. They just had to work it out in their heads first. Sometimes we don't end up with who we believe our soulmates are. Doesn't mean you have to spend the rest of your life miserable and alone. I liked that these characters were honest with each other and went from there. I get why some readers would think the opposite, that they settled. We all read things differently.

I loved revisiting with old characters. Especially, Ghost. I love him! He's definitely my favorite in this series! I loved the epilogue. It left me with a huge smile. I thought it was a a great ending to this series. If wasn't the end then it was the end for me.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I spent the whole day doing nothing but reading this book. It has been awhile since I've done that.

2.0 maybe 2.5 stars

I didn't read any reviews before starting this book. I'm glad I didn't, but I do have to say I completely agree with all the less then flattering reviews of this book. Cherrie Lynn is an excellent author and her Ross series, up until the last two books, was one of my favorites.

With that said, the good about this is book is you get to see characters you loved in previous books.
The bad, too much to list. Besides not liking Starla, at all, the my biggest gripe is the profound love these two have for other people though the majority of the book. That formula just didn't work for me. It took up too much of the focus of the book to ever believe Starla and Jared actually fell for each other.

If you have been reading the series, by all means, continue with this one, but if you are looking for the magic between the lead characters that was a standard in this series be prepared to be disappointed.

I give this 3 stars. Both of the main characters were a bit aggravating with their unrequited love of unattainable people. That aspect dragged on way too long for me. I appreciated the fact that they were both upfront and honest with one another about said unrequited love, but it wasn't enough. I'm not generally a huge fan of this trope. Reuniting with the cast of Dermamania was cool. In the end it works out exactly like you'd expect it to. Meh.

The best book of this series is Leave Me Breathless which is Ghost/Seth and Macy's story.

The hero of this book is Macy's ex but I didn't really feel him and Starla fall in love. They both loved other people namely Macy and Brian (from Rock Me) so it didn't really work for me that these two ended up together.

This one is ok, not bad but not great. I've loved every book in this series esp Brian and Ghost's stories. They had such magic. This one was just ok. Starla annoyed me for a good portion of the book. She made stupid decisions basically out of spite and I really just couldnt figure out where all her hangups came from. She didnt seem to have a horrible childhood, her parents were religious and a bit judgey but that didnt seem enough to justify Starla's self loathing and bad attitude. Jared was ok, I liked that he wasnt judgey and is a great dad to his daughters.

I liked that Jared and Starla were open and honest about their feeling for other people but it was so hammered on that I had a hard time pin-pointing where exactly did these two fall out of love with the objects of their desire and into love with each other?? One minute they were pinning for someone else and the next they are in love with each other? It's a hard sell and one I didnt fully buy.

more to come...

So this is kind of hard to rate. I love this entire series so it was awesome to go back and be with this group again. However....SPOILERS HERE..... The fact that Starla is in love with Brian really really put me off. Not sure why really, maybe cause I love Brian and Candace so much, but her level of "love" for him just rubbed me wrong. And the fact that it last the entire fucking book really made it worse. What I did love was Jared. This guy was completely amazing. Grounded, good dad, sexy as hell. I loved his interactions with Ghost (whoa was it awesome being with Ghost again!!!) For me, Jared's feelings for Macy were much more believable and those didn't bother me so much. It felt realistic. But Star, I dunno, I didn't love her. And the things she said to him at the end, the big blow up, I really wanted to slap her cause he didn't deserve that.
Overall I liked it, I just wish it would have gone in a different direction.

I am not totally sure about this book. I liked it...but im not sure if I was totally sold on these two getting together because they were commiserating over both being in love with people who were committed to their significant others. I felt Jared was more mature and actually dealt with his unrequited love but Starla was ridiculous. It was so uncomfortable to read about let alone have any sympathy for her. Other than that issues I really fell in love with Jared. I thought he was so sweet and a wonderful father. He really cared for his family and generally cared for anyone around him. I hated that he was the one to come groveling back to Starla...I didn't think Jared did anything wrong, Starla was the immature selfish bitch who would only think of herself and no one else when it came to her decisions. I wish Starla would have been the one to g crawling back. Anyway...good sex scenes though.

Watch Me Fall begins when Starla ends up getting a ride home after a bad night out, but she never expected help from Jared. He's totally different from the normal guys she gets with, but she can't seem to stay away from him. However, with everything going on in her life, and even with Jared they may not be able to stay away.

This book was not at all what I was expecting it to be. It actually got a little bit boring at times, but other than that I did like it. It was very interesting, even though it felt like it kept repeating things, and I was very frustrated with Starla at times. But it was still a nice read to pass the time with. However, I don't think I will be reading anymore in this series.

OMG y'all!! I took the night off last night to finish a book in one of my Top 5 Series of all time. Cherrie Lynn writes the Dermamania crew (it's so much more than the Ross Siblings, so I'm not sure what to really call it). Brian Ross is my #1 book boyfriend ever, with Ghost a really freakin' close second.

So this book - "Watch Me Fall" - I've waited on it for a while and HOLY GEEZE.....

It was all I hoped for and more. I wasn't sure about Jared & Starla, but they were hot, and I loved them together. I cried when something unthinkable happened to Brian (tore my heart out)....an OMG the EPILOGUE IS EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD.

My only question is, who's the next book about? Cause it could go several ways.

Being tired, has never been so worth it!

What a beautiful disaster this girl is.

I am torn. Part of me think this story was annoying and wants to give it 2 stars ... Why did her love interest HAVE to be connected to the rest of the crew? He could have just been a Rancher ...

But take THAT part out and it is a great love story, a few twists and turns. A bunch of past crud. A bunch of trust issues ... And that is where I get 3 stars.

It was nice to see Brain again.

This book has ALOT of inner dialogue ... Like a questions is asked, it takes a page and half to answer ... I often was left skimming.

But in the end. I WANTED to know Starla's story.

I inhale Cherrie's books like crack. She's one of those authors whose work I will always love. Starla's complexity surprised me as did Jared's sex appeal. I didn't care for Jared in Leave Me Breathless, BUT he won me over here. Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate me, I just thought he was kind of mehhhh. So not the case! Anyhoo, I enjoyed this installment from one of my favorite series and hope Cherrie gives us more from the Dermamania crew <3

I had to stop reading this as I could not stomach Starla anymore. She came across as this needy, insecure bitch. It was like she resented all of her friends for being in healthy relationships when just dated losers.
I felt no attraction between her and Jared. These two pretty much settled for one another because the people they supposedly loved, loved other people.

Cowboy DILF and tattooed punk princess make sexy times. Both seemed more in love with their exes. They settled for each other though. Sadly cowboy did not have piercing in his man parts like most of Cherrie Lynn's heroes. I was quite sad but I finished the book anyway.

Starla and Jarred what can I say about these two they both are infatuated with two people that will never want them or love them back. Starla is in love with a married man and a father to a newborn baby her boss Brian whom is very much in love with his wife and son. She loved him for years but never said anything so that tells you one thing she may not be in love it may only be a crush and Jarred is a divorced father to twin daughters whom is still in love with his ex girlfriend or so he thinks.

It was like ten years ago they broke up he got married had children and got divorced and is still holding these feelings even though Macy does not return them. She is in a relationship with tattoo artist Ghost and is not even worried about him.

This is something these two have in common. They first meet when Starla is on a date with a crazy psychotic man and he throws her out of his car. Jarred picks her up while she is walking. You quickly see these two are meant for each other if they let go of the past and see that they have no chance with Brian and Macy. You kind of get tired of them talking about their unrequited loves. That's the only thing I did not like about this book. It was a good read for me I read it in two days. I would have liked it better if it did not keep the hero and heroine stuck on two people who do not love or want them for basically the whole book. I will be reading more from this author.
