Hunting Party, the main 2000AD storyline in this collection, is a real corker and a very enjoyable throwback to the Cursed Earth mega-epic, as Dredd takes a group of cadets out on the hunt for flying shark monsters and encounter all sorts of weirdness along the way. The artist switches out for each strand and the choice of artists is fantastic.

The Megazine wasn't having a particularly strong period at this point and that mixed bag of material at the back of the book doesn't match up to Hunting Party unfortunately. There's still plenty to enjoy even there though.

Not bad. The 2000AD stories were entertaining, the megazine ones were either sub-par writing or art, but they're all at the back, as usual, so eventually, i just skimmed them and put it on the shelf.

This volume opens with a very strong first section, featuring a hot-dog run reminiscent of previous issues. However, it has enough originality and exploration of the wastelands to justify itself.

The final couple of stories—particularly those set in Hondo City and the late-night serial killer tale—are also strong and engaging.

Unfortunately, an extremely long, fever-dream-style story set in Africa completely disengaged me. I assume this was originally written for the magazine, but it felt out of place and overstayed its welcome.

Not the best offering of Judge Dredd world, although the Hunting Party epic was entertaining.
