Voices from Jerusalem: Jews and Christians Reflect on the Holy Land

Rate this book
Jerusalem is a holy city to three religious groups: Jews, Christians, and Muslims. It is the focal point of a land which not only stimulates deep faith, but stimulates deep animosity as well. Voices from Jerusalem is about Jerusalem as the "holy city" to Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

Editors Burrell and Landau have selected several voices to reflect on the way in which place affects relations between people and among groups. In eight essays and an introduction, all written by persons who have spent many years in the Holy Land, many topics are addressed, such as the sacred character of the land, Isreal as central to Jewish and Christian understanding, and various forms of Christian understanding, and various forms of Christian presence and witness in the Holy Land today. The Isreali-Palestinian dispute and how nationalism and religion are interconnected are also discussed.

If people, individually and collectively, can learn to live and work together in Jerusalem, so can we live throughout the world with care, devotion, and respect.
