How deep does the bond of brotherhood run? How far will a father go to protect his son?

Nick McCaslin has finally settled into the calm part of his life. He is enjoying time with his wife, son, and two daughters when his world is suddenly upended as a result of political/military issues he cannot control thousands of miles away. With military enrollment sharply declining, in order to deal with growing conflicts halfway around the world the government is forced to institute a draft. Nick's son is drafted and needs to report in only a matter of months. He is expecting his first child and Nick knows his son will never make it back alive.

Because of Nick's background and close relationships he is successful in getting his son out of the draft, but only if he agrees to take his place. Out of deep loyalty, Nick's friends will not let him do it alone. The time frame to prepare is short, their orders are specific, and they are thrust into service at an age when most men are retiring from the military.

As they soon find out, their unique mission is only the beginning. What Nick and his unit uncover is chilling and the severity in which they deal with what they find puts them in extreme danger, not only from the enemy, but also from their own country.

Zach Harris was raised in Minneapolis, MN and graduated from University of South Dakota. His unique professional career, that spans from bail bondsman to insurance executive, has exposed him to lawyers, criminals, judges, politicians, all the way to the fortune 500 boardroom.

Zach’s lifelong passion for writing has been for his own personal enjoyment and relaxation, as well as, helping him battle life long insomnia. His work has ranged from short stories to novels and until now he has kept his work private.

However, as the world stage has been changing, one of his story lines has proven to be quite prophetic. Through the encouragement of his close family and friends, Zach decided to release the first book in the INDUCTED series with the second due out later in 2016. In this debut novel, Zach draws on his life experiences and nightmares to explore just how far the bonds of friendship and family can be tested.

Zach, his wife, and children currently reside in the Midwest.

Inducted is a fast paced, well woven story that holds the reader's attention from page one. I admit, I wasn't sure if the subject matter would hold my interest as it isn't my typical genre, but I was taken in by the action and the cast of character's drive to make a difference inspired me. Perhaps some aspects are a bit too good to be true; however, that is the joy of storytelling and oh, what an adventurous story it is! I had to remind myself throughout that it was written by a first time author. Very impressed by Zach Harris' debut into the writing world and look forward to part two!

I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway.
This is not my normal reading genre and I have to admit that I approached this book with some hesitation. However, I soon felt myself fully engrossed in this fast moving story of dedication to family, friends and country. This is a well written war story (and the events that thrust this middle aged man into that war) that I will remember for quite some time. The characters were real and the action was intense. I really enjoyed it! There is more to come and I look forward to the next in this series.
Well done, Zach!
