Munch is a wonderfully fun story about a small but determined monster who wants to protect his favorite toast from a giant beast on the loose. What stands out most to me is how vibrant the colors are throughout the book. Every page is filled with rich illustrations of jam jars, toast and Munch's home that immediately draw readers in. The author and illustrator uses a unique and playful approach to her font and text layout.

Beyond its visual appeal, Munch is genuinely fun and engaging for students. The simple repetitive structure keeps young listeners following along, while the surprising twist ending makes it memorable to its readers. It's the kind of book that invites students to react out loud and want to hear it again, making it a strong choice for any PreK-2nd grade classroom.
