He draws inspiration from family life, from his creative career as an inventor and entrepreneur, from 8 years on the Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering & Innovation Council, and from two terms as National President of Engineers Australia (100,000 members). He brings to bear his lifelong interests in writing, graphic art, astronomy and science, fortified by a Master of Engineering degree and a Doctorate of Philosophy.
Having received numerous federal and state awards for research & development and for export marketing, his day job has centred on the design of electronic products, systems and software for the prevention of crime and fire. He is best known for pioneering the aspirated smoke detection industry worldwide that saves countless lives.
He and his wife Christine have had five children and seven grandchildren.

The main characters and their inter-relations are revealed and explored in the course of the action, to humorous and intriguing effect. Disbelief may need to be suspended in the face of one or two slightly unlikely turns of event but this is generally acceptable within the overall tenor of the novel.
