Given to me for an honest review. Some of you may have read The Lassoed Bride a few months ago, but don't let that stop you from getting this boxed set. Each book is a standalone.

Western Pleasure (Book 0, prequel novella)---When Ellen's husband died, she needed a job so she used the one skill she had—baking. She has offered her cupcakes for a charity ball. She meets a very old friend, Jim, who helped her with the financial things after her husband died. He also was able to help her with her grief. Ellen doesn't know what to do with the girly feelings she is having. Does Jim have warmer feelings for her?

Chasing Charlie (Book 1)---When Davis' father died, Davis took over the title company. Now the company is doing well and has a new President. Time for Davis to become the cowboy he wants to be. Davis finds out that his mother will not accept a ring from Jim until Davis is settled with a fiancee. Davis decides to select the right woman and pretend to be engaged for one night. He sees the dress in the bag and decides Charlie is the one to help him. Only things don't go as planned.

The Lassoed Bride (Book 2)--- Ben and Barbara have been going together for 3 months. Now she is expecting a proposal. They like the same things: horses, ranching, and horse rescue. They are going to the coffee shop. He's late enough for her to worry. She gets "I'm OK." as answer to her text and nothing else. Six years later, one of Barbara's sisters decides to have all the sisters go to a dude ranch for 2 nights. Abby hopes this will tell Barbara how she would be happier with a cowboy rather than the man she plans to marry in just a few days. Will Ben realize that he still loves her? Or will he think again that he's not good enough for her? Will Barbara decide that she will be not happy in this marriage with Nikolai?

Country Courtship (Book 3)---Kelli loves her sister and would not do anything to make her unhappy. Lori, broke up with the man that she thought was The One. He told her that she was second choice. Lori thinks that all her boyfriends liked Kelli more. Bobby Gray Nelson bred their mare while Monty Joe was out of town. He decides to accept the Lori's invitation to her parents party so he can hide from his brother. Kelli, Lori, and Bobby Gray are at Lori's parents party. Trouble arrives by cell phone when Monty Joe yells at Bobby Gray. Will Monty Joe realize that Bobby Gray made a sound decision about the mare? Then Lori tells Kelli that Kelli has taken Bobby Gray away from her. Will Kelli find out that Lori was overreacting about her and Bobby Gray?

Note: I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review.

This set contains books 1 - 4 of the Texas Two Step series. Each book is standalone, but it works best to read them in order since the storylines build on each other and characters from the previous books are revisited in the latter ones.

What I liked - These are completely clean, fun stories that are appropriate for all ages. I also liked how the ultimate goal was marriage and not just a "happy for now" scenario. There is a focus on family harmony as well. In the book Country Courtship, Kelli struggles with her relationship because she fears that she's hurting her sister.

What I didn't like - for the most part, I liked everything, but I did find Lori's role in Country Courtship a bit tedious. I sighed a relief thinking "finally!" when Kelli stood up for herself and told Lori that her own heart mattered too. I wanted Lori to be more mature in the situation.

Other than that, it was a pleasant read and I appreciated the opportunity to read everything in order. It made the books more cohesive.

My rating - 5 stars.

Not My Favorite

"Western Pleasure" was worth the set, but I just couldn't get into the plots of the next two and just gave up. I guess it is a collection of interwoven novellas, at least for the first two.

In the second, it didn't make sense why his mom won't settle down before her son Nick does. The plot just didn't flow for me.

Good read

Cute, entertaining, and fun. The heroines want nothing to do with the heroes and the heroes are only out for fun or they have an agenda that doesn't include serious. Highly recommend.

Truly hot read. I do enjoy reading about cowboys. This set of stories does not disappoint. I really enjoy stories that take characters from an original story and give them their own.
