This text doesn't very often provide arbitrary numbers with no explanation. It refers to BMI in depth but indicates that it is not adequate to assess the overall health of an individual, for instance. The only place I noticed a jarring instance of the arbitrary number was with waist circumference. It seems like a woman (or man) who is 6'5" and a woman (or man) who is 4'10 shouldn't be expected to have the same size waist. Perhaps I missed a critical point, in there, but I doubt it. Overall, I'm glad I read this. I'm glad I have it to refer back to. Another textbook that won't be going back to the bookstore.

Interesting information but not a lot of information I didn't already know from my chemistry class. A good basic introduction to nutrition and how the body processes it.

Overall good introduction to the topic of nutrition. Too bad the authors bias against animal source food is too glaring, it made me question their integrity.
