The heart is a fragile part of the body that can easily be broken if it’s not handled with care; which is why one should be very vigilant of whom they choose to give it to. Mia, is a 23-year-old independent phlebotomy tech who is living her life worry and drama free. It isn’t much. but she isn’t complaining and it’s enough to take care of herself and maintain the lifestyle that she is accustomed to. After being persuaded by her friends, Kelsi & Terri to go out on a Thursday night, she ends up at the same nightclub as the streets supplier, the main attraction, a guy she’s been lusting over since she was a teenager; Dola The Don. She’s much older now and she’s taken aback when he finally approaches her after all these years and gives her a dose of the glamorous but street lifestyle that he lives. The questions follows, will it be too much for her to handle or will she be able to secure her heart in the process? The only difference between Dola and the average man is the fact that he’s fine, black, ruthless, and rich. He ends up falling for Mia, but will he fall hard enough to let the streets go, and focus on what they are trying to build by keeping her loved, happy, and secured?

2 stars... the last 95% was pretty great.. I was actually really into the book during the last 5%.

Being honest.. I skimmed quite a bit.. I am not sure why all of it seemed really simple. Like you already knew what was going to happen.. minus Kelsi and Ruthless ( Didn't see that coming) I pretty much figured it out within the first 30%.

Felt like most of the characters were childish and Dola...Didn't find him charming at all, and no it's not just because he didn't know how to keep it in his pants, he just sucked all the way around. Actually the only male character I enjoyed was Sy.

And the lack of condoms.. LOL I mean seriously I could careless how many times you got your depo shot you are sleeping with men who you KNOW sleep with other chicks.. so so basic.

I like urban books and can handle most with no problem but this one just wasn't for me.

Love at first site

Mia, Terri and Kelsie are beautiful young ladies looking for love. Dola, Sy and Ruthless are in those streets and have money, looks and wanting that special someone to share it with. At lease that’s what they say. Love is in the air;however, these ladies will learn very quickly that men stay boys a little longer than us women especially when money and power come into play. Ruthless and Kelsie know they r playing a dangerous game and Apryl loves her man!! Mia stands by Dola’s side until he strikes out again. Teri says she likes women but Sy has changed her prospective

I’m so tired of authors stretching books into series. However, the pace of the book was timely. The characters read typical because the author didn’t provide enough development for me. I guess that what will be revealed in the next books. However I am not invested enough to read on.

I liked the book. Mercedes G is a good author and I like the way she puts her storylines together. However, I wasn’t feeling Dola and Mia together for some reason there connection was weird to me. Towards the end I started getting off into the book and it made me start reading part two with the turn of events.

Oh this book was everything. I love Dola & Sy. Ruth makes me sick right now just being a typical man. He decides he wants Kelsi but wasn't honest with her. Dola decides he wants Mia & tries to keep his discrepancies from her. He gets caught one time almost making a huge mistake & she forgives him. Now he gets called again but he can't deny this one. He was actually caught & he can't lie. Mia is going to need to grow up & see what else is out there. Make him suffer a little. Terri & Sy hit it off. They need to try to see where things could go with them . Not sure what happened with Ruth & Kelsi but it's not good. Can't wait for part 2 so get to writing Mercedes. This book was good from beginning to the end. I like how you touched on different subjects & how to work through them or what people do all the time in the situation. Good read.

Recommend: if you need something to read to pass the time. It is a part of a series and the second part is being released on the 15th, I will be reading it. So, I guess it wasn't too bad, right?

Soooo...I love me a good hood book. But I want a hood book that I'm not cringing at every other curse word and "n" word. It's just not for me. So if that bothers you to the point where you can't read it, don't read this book. It was entertaining to read, but there are plenty of grammatical errors (I hope that Mercedes G's career takes off so she can hire her a good editor). But that's my warning to you all.

If you want to be entertained, you will be. About a quarter into the book, I found myself interested in what was going to happen with the rest of the characters. It took me a minute to see past the curse words and actually enjoy the book.

But here's a rundown of the characters:

Mia- she's independent, hardworking and the main character of the book. Even though the book is told from the perspective of different people, it is clear that she is the main focus and everyone else revolves around her. She quickly falls for Dola- he's good looking and everyone knows who he is because...drugs...sigh. *side note mind thought* Can I get you all who write Urban Novels to figure something out and give us more character and substance...thank you... Anyway, Dola. The entire time reading the book I pronounced it Dolla. Shame on me. Doe-la is the correct way. He's a drug dealer. All the ladies want him. He is fine as hell. Blah, blah, blah. Typical mumbo jumbo.

Then there's Mia's friends Terri and Kelsi. Terri is battling with whether or not she wants to be a lesbian, knock her baby daddy in the head, and/or fall for Dola's boy Sy. Meanwhile, Kelsi gives it up to his boy Ruth the morning after meeting him...and...well...drama ensues shortly after. I won't give it away.

I think Mercedes G could do a little better with giving her characters more depth to them. She doesn't describe them all but for Dola's darker member and Mia's thickness and bob. Maybe she calls one of them a linebacker with dreads. I don't know. But yeah. Give me more substance and a little less drama.

Why do I wish to read book 2 if I didn't really care for this one you ask?

Because the cliffhangers at the end of the book need to be answered for me. So now I wait 3 days. Ugh.

YOU DID THAT.....

Mercedes G!!!! This story is a page turner and a MUST READ!!! First of all I love Mia, Terrica, Kelsi, Dola, Ruthless and Syrius... Now Syrius is bae!!!! I don't think the women in the story are weak, it s just that the heart wants what the heart wants and you can't help who you love. I think the women gave those men a run for their money. I love everybody's relationship and I don't think Kelsi is a side chick bc Ruthless doesn't treat her like one and I honestly I feel his in love with her.. Now Mia and Dola is made for each other but Dola has to change his ways and I'm glad Mia stood her ground and has respect and morals for herself not to sleep with him in the jail but like the saying, "What you want do another will" is so true!!! But I hope she gives Dola the business and a run for his money!!! Mia baby sister now she's weak!! Now I love me some Syrius!!! I love how he kept going after what he want... He didn't give up on Terrica and he also accepted her daughter.. I can't wait for part 2 bc I know it's going down and the ending OMG!!! I just knew something was going to happen!!! Don't have us waiting too long.

As always great read!!

I have read several books by this author and I can truly say that this is the best book Ms. Mercedes has ever written. There were no missing elements and everything was right on point. I really loved Dola and Mia's relationship. I really thought that he was going to dispel the stereotype of the balling, selfish, drug dealing cheater that is never capable of showing the type of loyalty they demand from their significant but alas he was just another rusted, tarnished man who wanted his cake and eat it too. At any rate while I am never a fan of the sidechick and the issues they cause for sound reason I was sympathetic to Kelsi and Ruthless. I know that sounds hypocritical but it actually is a testament to the prowess of Ms. Mercedes G writing ability. I can't wait for pt. 2 and hopefully it won't be a long wait. While you wait check out other books by this author and I promise she never disappoints. Kudos Ms. Mercedes G.

I liked Dola but dude has a very lethal and somewhat crazy side and he is a cheater. I believe that he sincerely loves Mia, but he wants his cake and eat it too. I also don't think she really knows who she is dealing with. The parking lot scene should have really shown her and the stuff Dola said to her afterwards should have shown her too. The dude said he would "rough" her up if she tried to leave. Also, during the makeup sex scene he had his hand around her throat and was basically threatening her. There was nothing sexy about it. She forgave him and now she is literally watching him cheat right in front of her. She really isn't any better than Neecy. As for Kelsi, she is wrong for messing with this chicks man. I don't care how good his stroke game is, leave that dude alone. Now, she is in trouble. Lastly, I hope Terri and Sy will get together.
I hope we don't have to wait a long time for Part 2. I can't stand cliffhangers!

Well this is one of my favorite author's and I'm kind of pissed cause my review wasn't here I've just reread this tale and I'm mad azz hell at Dola again....when will he learn .....One thing I can say is Ruth is my boy but he pushed ole girl into shooting Kelsi hope she pulls though ....Now Sty is on the right path he's trying to start a family I love it .....trey can kiss my .....where the sun can't catch...that brother and sister is the worst ....waiting all night for part 2..... The growth of this AUTHOR is amazing I watched it from the first book of til her last one....baby Sista is definitely growing up is so her work....go Mercedes you rock that...... out freaking standing. Still and always your #1 fan.....

The Drama Begins

This was such a good story to me. I like drama and there was plenty of it. Poor Mia. She's a good woman who isp delusional thinking Dola is faithful. I'm almost proud of him for keeping his thots away from her this long. It really is so hard to be monogamous when they're throwing panties at you all the time. But why I knew he was gonna get caught during lockup? Lucky for her, she couldn't get in his phone. She'll really be hurt. I love these characters and feel like I know them, Out of the girls, I feel like Terri is the most sensible. This is really starting to get good. I have to download part 2 now to see what went down with Kelsi. This looks like it's going to be another good series.

Ahhh my goodness...Just Speechless!!!

This book started off slow to me so it took a minute for it to catch my interest so that is it why I rated a 4. I'm just speechless I can't believe I was left hanging the story took me through so much..smh. Mia and Dola they need to just leave it alone and Mia needs to go the hell off and dismiss him. Terri and Sy are my favorites I like how there relationship is building. It's so much going on that you would have to read the book it will show relationships are build on lies, sisters bonds are tested and the drama..Wow. Mercedes G is a author to be reckoned with. This girl is truly one of the best urban authors ive came across. Wow my mouth is left hanging wide open. I truly enjoyed this book. I love how she relates to the Albany Cuthbert area. The moral of this story was behind every man with street power is drama. I really liked the girls and there bond as friends. What a read this was so good. Mia,Kelsi and Terri night out turns out to be a good one. Mia catches the eye of her crush Dola. Dola,Ruth and Sy are feeling the girls but Ruth is playing with fire dealing with kelsi while his crazy ex still lurks. Terri is afraid to let Sy in because her baby daddy is a deadbeat but he manages to win her over. No more spoilers go read can't wait to see how these couples play out .

Dola....

I love and hate Dolan , he is a mess. Mia is somewhat stupid and she basically gets what she deserve. Kelsi is the same , she has a nerve being with Ruthless and then get mad cuz he with his main chick. Loved the book , can't wait for part two. Loved the surprise family reveal!!!!
