Roxbury Park Dog Club #4

All Paws on Deck

Rate this book

What’s better than being best friends? Being best friends who volunteer together at the Roxbury Park Dog Shelter! With a focus on friendship, family, and cute canines, Roxbury Park Dog Club is perfect for tween readers who snap up books from series like Cupcake Diaries and Candy Apple, or for anyone who loves dogs.

In this fourth book, Kim has to face the fact that while understanding dogs is easy, keeping up in class can be hard. Her parents are talking about sending her to a different school if she doesn’t improve her grades—which would mean leaving the Dog Club! To get through this crisis, Kim will need a helping hand (or paw) from all her friends.

I read this book aloud to my daughter. Though it was somewhat generic, it was not so much so as many of the series regarding animals which my daughter has found. It felt as though there was more focus on characters and a bit of character development as well as challenges relating to those characters, not just helping a dog. Though it wrapped up nicely and predictably, it was done quite well for this sort of short novel.

Cute and quick read, my stepdaughter was reading it and I wanted to be able to discuss the plot with her. She hasn't finished yet but we talk about it when ever she is over with us for the night or weekend.

A really good book to talk about goals and problem solving, as well as conflict resolution with your kids. Can't wait to start the next one in the series with her.

I read this to my 8 year old daughter. The writing wasn't the best. But man, by the end I was in tears because of the connection she'd made with both Missy and Mrs Benson.
