Me fascinó.

"I am a sweet dream. Once the sleep falls from my eyes and I start to cry, it's all over"

The best one yet for :re series. This volume reveals so much important plot device which will bring upon major changes to the story. However, what I really appreciate about this volume is that we get to see- understand more about both protagonist and antagonist and how they are tied together. How the author writes (and draws) his characters' background and personality is simply one of the most complex writing I saw in this kind of genre.

He's also an expert in conveying despair and grief. Heck, he made a heartbreakingly good dying scenes. If there is a downside, it would be he draws messy fighting scenes that it is sometimes hard to understand the flow. But I didn't mind much of it, I even liked it that way.

Sui Ishida is a great artist and author. There is a reason why Tokyo Ghoul is my most favorite manga of all time.

--

EN I rarely mention Sui Ishida's artwork, but I think it's worth highlighting just how impressive it is.

"Tokyo Ghoul" is one of the few manga that truly excels in capturing a strong horror aesthetic, blending eerie, unsettling imagery with strikingly detailed art.

This volume brings the Tsukiyama family raid to a dramatic and emotional conclusion, delivering powerful moments and much more.

(1) Very good fight scene again! What's not to love, although some panels do look confusing as hell!

(2) The One-Eyed Owl v.s. Sasaki! What is not to love here!!!?

(3) Kanae's last scene, sighs, that's a bit sad!

(4) then a certain someone is gaining his memory back and recovering a bit of his older self, good!

(5) A certain someone winded up dead, and his last scene is....sad too.

(6) For some reason I like seeing Eto being a manipulative bitch to people. LOL

(7) I have to say this again I like how the manga-ka used inkwork and shadows in his artwork~

(8) I quite like the part when the author's past is revealed, like the backstory quite much!!!!

Anyway, it's a surprisingly satisfying volume! The story really picks up its speech and intensiveness in the storytelling!

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER!!!!

SERIE TOKYO GHOUL RE vol. 6

I mie occhi mi salutano.

Nel compelsso un bel volume intrigante.

description
Check out more manga and graphic novel reviews @ Perspective of a Writer...

In the sequel series to Tokyo Ghoul, Haise Sasaki has been tasked with teaching his special squad of half-ghouls how to be outstanding Investigators, but this is complicated by the troublesome personalities of his subordinates and his own uncertain grasp of his Ghoul powers. Will he and the members of his squad become heroes or monsters, taken out by the other squads in the Commission of Counter Ghoul...?!

I was soooo confused this volume. Characters looked different from what they did in the past so I wasn't sure if they were who I thought they were or someone else. Then the battles were so confusing, there are normally frames that clarify what happened and I can pick it up and understand what some of the pages said, this time I just couldn't catch up. I did get a few things out of the volume but the art just isn't clear to me. I think this is the first volume where having not read the previous Tokyo Ghoul was a real detriment. I don't have the experience reading the art style and I don't know all the back history so can't grasp the innuendo. I was blessed to have the next volume.

Here's the thing, this series is deliciously complex. Seriously no manga I've read nears the complexity of Tokyo Ghoul:re. I think that all came to a head in volume 6. Seriously the things I did grasp in the plot were crazy cool and twisty. I know Haise went off half cocked, that some of my favorite ghouls survived and that new ones popped up with a crazy plan to get humans on their side. I know someone died who I really liked (NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) I think the pacing is really fast, BUT that makes sense otherwise we'd drown in all the characters and there individual issues.

Dudes the tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife! I don't really understand exactly what happened with Haise (i.e. why the change) in this volume but what it amounts to is that things are all twisted up! His past has caught up with him and now is fallout time. I raced through this volume and I think anyone who has been reading the series will race through it too, its that pivotal of a volume.

Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 6 is pivotal to the entire series... Haise is changed forever from the confident investigator that we started this story with... And he won't ever be the same again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authenticity
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tension
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plot
⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ⭐⭐ Art

This is a multi-volume series and there may be references to the plot of those volumes... SO READ WITH CARE! Here is my review of 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7

While this volume wasn't as good as the last it is still a step in the right direction.

This mostly deals with the end of the Shu family. Or atleast the extermination arc for them. Kankei makes his grand return, or so you think, and it might end up going a different way than expected. We also have Kankei's crew dealing with a vicious villain and it might not turn out too good for them. The second half deals with tracking down the One Eyed King. Do we have the answer? Well...

This was a intriguing end that boosted it for me. When it ends I was like "Oh fuck where do we go now?" and I also liked most of the wrap up with the Shu arc. I still have trouble telling who is who, mostly based on faces kind of blending at times or action scenes being too busy sometimes. It's so odd because sometimes the scenes are clear as day and wonderful to view, and other times the action is far too messy. Either way when it was good, it was great, when it was messy, it was harder to like at points.

But overall another solid volume. I'd go with a 3.5 but I'll bump it to a 4.

I'm sad because of Kaneki, his life is getting worse and worse with every chapter. I hope Ishida gives him a happy ending at last.

It was also sad that Shirazu died *sighs* he was an enjoyable and sweet character

This volume was fantastic! So many things are revealed (I totally forgot that Arima and Furuta were part of V) and I also loved, loved, loved seeing Haise finally "accepting" Kaneki. His black reaper personality is dark and ruthless but so badass, I love it! (He also saved Shuu despite making it seem like he killed him, I loved that too). Volume 6 ends with a big cliffhanger so I can't wait to start volume 7 now!

Warnings: body horror, gore, cannibalism, physical violence, dismemberment, major character death, heroic suicide trope, suicidal ideation, mention of child abuse,

This volume delivers some punches and major changes. While Haise is battling Kanae on the roof, Eto makes an appearance. Haise, sent back into his subconscious by traumatic injury, remembers his childhood, and finally gives in to 'Kaneki' and fights back, defeating both Kanae and Eto. Meanwhile, Shiraku is battling Noro, and makes an opening for Urie. After the end of the operation, we are jumped forward six months, where Kaneki, having resigned from his mentorship of the Quinxes, is spearheading the arrest of Sen Takatsuki (and we get her backstory, too), while the CCG is aiming for elimination of the Aogiri Tree. The organizational structure is changed, and we have yet more characters to remember, as Urie (now leader of the Quinxes) works in S3 squad, and Tooru is helping out with an operation to gain intelligence on a suspected Aogiri Tree base. But perhaps the most surprising development is Eto dropping that bombshell near the end of the book, where she comes out as a ghoul while also hinting at the CCG being in league with ghouls in her next book.

There are some major plot advancements here, and that, as well, as the confusing battle scenes, make this a bit chaotic. With the time jump, there are character changes, too, that don't match their actions. Kaneki, in his identity as CCG's Black Reaper, is hunting ghouls down with much more passion, and frankly I expected him to be angry at being manipulated by Arima and Akira (even though that had been developing for a while now, it feels that just went nowhere?); his attack on Tsukiyama, though, seemed to hint that he does some older emotions left in him. Furuta, his second on his squad, seems to be fishy as always (that and Arima discussing watching Kaneki seems to hint that they know about him). One interesting interaction is the one between Matsuri Washuu and Urie - it was a bit shady on the part of the former, and I don't know what it means yet.

I had some frustrations, too, with the plot this time. First of all, I didn't understand what were the conditions of Eto's arrest if she was still able to be out in public? I thought CCG just rounded up ghouls, especially the one ranked (and she's an S, if I remember?). Also, how is Torso still hanging around, ready to torment Tooru at every turn? Does he have a tracker on him? And finally, yeah, the action sequences in the start were so confusing I wasn't sure who was being impaled, who got dismembered, and what was going on.

Overall, though, yeah, it was a game changer of a plot. I am excited to see where it goes from here.

May I perhaps express a final wish? I wish that you would say my name. My real name.
Never mind. It is not my place to voice such wishes. But I want to shout it into the world. These feelings of mine. I have to say it before my life ends.
Oh, my dear Shu. I have dreamt for so long of the day I could hold you in my arms like this.
Father, mother, my brothers, please forgive me. Shu, please forgive me... Forgive me, for I have fallen in love with you.

Una gioia mai però, eh Ishida?

Spoiler

Wait, WHAAAT?!?! O.o

+ Dear Ishida, it seems like you purposely kill whoever I like more... Well, I prefer them to be dead rather than put to your HORRIBLE torments.
