Sweet Talkin' Cowboy

Rate this book
Darlene Panzera continues her heartwarming Western series with a roughed-up cowboy, the feisty girl next door, and the deal that brings them together

If it wasn't for an injury to his leg, Luke Collins would be riding rodeo broncos all day, every day. Until he heals, he's determined to help his family's guest ranch bring in money any way he can. But when a cranky neighbor gets in the way of his goal, Luke turns to the only person he knows can help: the gorgeous, rodeo-barrel-racing spitfire next door.

It's no secret: Sammy Jo's father is a pain in the neck. But if anyone can persuade him, it's her. So when Luke asks for help, Sammy Jo is more than willing to make a deal with the handsome cowboy. The cost? He's gotta get back up on that horse with Sammy Jo's help, of course.

As teamwork reveals a deeper connection, Luke finds himself falling for the beautiful girl next door. But to win her heart? He'll just have to do whatever it takes."

This is the second book in the Montana Hearts series and Panzera writes another story that made me fall more in love with this series.

Luke returned home injured from a motorcycle accident but still wants to help with his family's ranch. Lately Sammy Jo has been making advances towards him but he doesn't know if he could trust her. When things start happening around the ranch again it brings these two closer together but will there families break them apart?

I highly suggest reading the first book in the series before this one. Normally I would say this could be read a standalone but to get the full effect of the characters and the sabotages that happen well it all starts in book 1.

I enjoyed the guessing game on who was sabotaging the ranch and why. Of course it's more then one person but it was a great entertaining read that will go over into book 3 since their are more mysterious things going on.

As far as the characters I enjoyed each and everyone of them in there own way but I thought some secondary characters didn't need to be mentioned.

As far as the romance between Sammy Jo and Luke well it was good. They have known each other forever, Sammy Jo used to tease and make fun of Luke but when he left for war she began to realize she loved him. Now it's her chance to win him over.

I really liked that these two didn't fall in bed. They started out with simple flirting and sweet kisses. It made this book all that much sweeter to enjoy!

As of right now I can't wait to read the 3rd book in this series in hopes that the people who are arranging the sabotages are finally caught. The next book will be about Luke's sister who is a single mom and I hope she ends up with Ryan's brother.

5 sweet and entertaining stars!

Sweet Talkin’ Cowboy is book 2 in Darlene Panzera’s Montana Hearts series. Having had the opportunity to read book 1 which was completely enchanting and utterly entertaining, when the opportunity presented itself to read book 2, I jumped at the chance and couldn't wait to read Sammy Jo and Luke's love story.

Sammy Jo and Luke have known each other since they were children having grown up on neighboring farms in Fox Creek. Luke had always noticed Sammy Jo but saw her only as his older sister’s friend who always teased him. But now that they are both grown, Sammy Jo’s teasing has ceased and she begins to feel drawn to Luke doing everything she can to get his attention to win his heart. When sabotage and theft begins to threaten the survival of Collins Country Cabins and Luke decides to organize watch shifts between his family and their neighbors to solve the mystery, he decides to make Sammy Jo his watch partner. As they begin to spend more time together, Luke begins to see Sammy Jo differently as well and feelings for her start to develop. But when their investigation turns up some incriminating evidence, it threatens to destroy the connection they have begun to share. Will they be able to uncover the truth and find their happily ever after?

Darlene Panzera has accomplished another wonderful story with Sweet Talkin Cowboy. She has again given us a sweet romance intertwined with fun, drama and suspense which kept my mind turning as I tried to unravel the mystery myself. Montana Hearts contains such an amazing and fun cast of characters who completely drew me into their lives. The sweetness of Darlene Panzera’s stories makes them enjoyable and so entertaining to read.

Having now finished the second book in this series, I can state without a question that Darlene Panzera has earned her rightful place on my list of must read authors. I definitely look forward to more of her Montana Hearts series and excitingly anticipate what will come next. Although Sweet Talkin’ Cowboy could be read as a standalone, I would recommend starting at the beginning of this series so you can get to know these characters from the beginning as well as attain a better understanding of the sabotage which certainly a large plot point.

Ok first off, who doesn't like a good looking cowboy? I mean really, doesn't the thought of a strong man, wearing a tight fitting pair of jeans and boots just warm you up? I know it does me.

Now, not only does this book have several of those sexy men in it, but one in particular will have you hoping he will get his head out of his "behind" and realize that the girl of his dreams is right in front of him.

Luke has so self esteem issues since returning home from the Middle East. Add to the fact that his injury keeps him from doing most of the things he loves, he feels like he is not worthy of affection. Sammy Jo on the other hand has her sights set on him and is willing to do whatever it takes for him to see her right in front of him. Even if it is by bartering with his feelings. She is a strong willed woman, who knows what she wants, and is willing to do whatever it takes to see it through.

This book is not only a heart warming romance that will have you curling up in front of your fireplace, wrapped in a warm blanket reading, but will keep you in suspense of what is going on. Not only do you hope that the boy gets his girl, but that they trouble that they deal with is brought to an end. I will say that this book had many more twist and turns than did the first one, and Luke can really catch you off guard if you are not careful. The things he does and says will definitely make your heart swoon.

I am glad that I have gotten the chance to read this second book. It was just as wonderful as the first, and I am glad to get to continue with the love that this family holds for one another. I can't wait to see if Darlene the other sister finally finds her happy ever after, and hopefully we will get to see Ryan and Bree's wedding as well. Yes, I am falling in love with this family and can't get enough. You will find yourself in the same position, just wait and see. So saddle up, and lets head on out with this family and find a great love story in the end.

This is the second book in the Montana Hearts Series and I loved it. I have read both so far and this one is my favorite. Luke and his sisters came home when they father was hurt and their ranch was in trouble from a husband and wife team that embezzled money from them. Luke's knee was injured in a wreck and has some what of a chip on his shoulder. His long time friend and neighbor Sammy Jo won't let him on him. She wants to see Luke ride again even though her father can not stand the Collins's.

Luke has enough problems with trying to figure out who is tormenting the cabins at the ranch. Guests start leaving with there are gun shots and other things happening. Sammy Jo's father holds up the process of the last two cabins being built and doesn't even want her around Luke.

With all that is going on will Luke ride again and see Sammy Jo other than a friend?

The story was well written I loved the fact we get to see characters from the first book and we get to see Luke try again and work things out with his father. I look forward to the next book in this series. You can't get any better than this.

Although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend that the series is read in order as some of the events in the first book impact this one as well. Luke and Sammy Jo have known each other since they were kids, but while Sammy Jo has been in love with him for some time, Luke is just starting to see her in a different light. The mystery of who is sabotaging Luke's family ranch forces them to spend more time together and their friendship turns into romance. This was as sweet romance that I really enjoyed. Looking forward to the next book!

I received an ARC via Edelweiss for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

Great sequel

I really love when the sequel is as good as the first story. It continued the storyline and developed into a very interesting story. Loved the families and how they blend the friendships and love. I really enjoy Darkened writing. I'm onto the next story in this series.

A very enjoyable read that is well written with a great group of characters. The MC's are Sammy Jo and Luke. They've grown up together and while she has always had a bit of a crush on him, she's always just been one of his sister's friends. Things have changed though and Luke is looking at Sammy Jo a bit differently now. One problem - the two families have been feuding for years, how can anything develop between them?? This and a host of other issues they are dealing with is what makes this a fun read. Definitely one I would recommend.

This was loaned to me by a friend who recommended it. She insisted that I'd like it, but I told her that I probably might not read it because it didn't sound like my kind of book. I was surprised to find that I really liked it, and even more, to find myself getting into her attraction to a certain cowboy. I recommend this book because it's downright enjoyable, sexy, romantic and a fun read. I've already thanked my friend.

I really enjoyed Montana Hearts: Sweet Talking Cowboy. The playful dialogue back and forth between the protagonists was fun to follow and there was real depth of emotion in not only their past, but their families' as well. I enjoyed the mystery of who is trying to sabotage the ranch, always assuming I knew the answer when Darlene would throw me for another loop. I highly recommend this book!
