A Mother For His Adopted Son
Thoughts: My first thoughts are, heavy hitting start and great pace. This is such a sweet story, I really love it.

Synopsis: Sam ended up adopting Dani after working in the Philippines with Doctors Without Borders. He loses his last and long term girlfriend over his decision. Adoption means so much to him because his single mum had to work two jobs and left him alone a lot which ended up with him in Foster care. His mum never returned.

Andrea is a painter feeling pressured to take over from her grandmother who makes prosthetics for people who have lost ears, facial parts and eyes. She is overwhelmed when Sam after watching his sons surgery comes in to see her grandmother and is rude to her. Sam ends up reminding her of her dad and the way he is with her.

A week later Sam finally cools off about the woman he considered as rude and useless that he met. Sam goes to the O&A department where he catches Andrea in a lie. When she starts blushing he finds himself melting for her and in a long drawn out conversation ends up booking a home appointment that they don’t normally do for Dani.

During the conversation he works out her father is the head of cardiac and feels for her. He tries to hold back his grieves with the man.

Andrea visits the home to make a model of Dani’s eye. She is completely taken in by Sam and Dani. She is relieved to discover that Sam’s single and can’t deny how she feels about him.

Playing with the sweet boy allows her to find a bond with him. She is able to make her model and take the pictures that she needs to without him making a fuss so she gives him her frog teddy and plays with him. Sam makes them tea, when bed time comes he is even more adorable.

Andrea realises that Sam is from a big family and that touches her all the more. They share tea and talk for awhile. He finds that he loves how she feels like she fits into his life and home. Sam can’t help wondering about what might happen, if she would date him knowing that he had adopted a boy. If it would matter to her.

Sam can’t resist asking out Andrea who doesn’t want a boyfriend yet finds herself accepting his date. She calls her mother grateful to hear that she is doing better with her depression and anxiety Andrea blames her father for. Their calls cut short when her father shouts for her mother. Andrea is left mad at her dad for the damage he does to her mum.

Andrea makes an effort for the date with Sam. At the end of the date they go back to the apartment where they get caught up in a passionate kiss. He finds himself unable to let her go despite her artist traits, a sting left over from Katie.

They make plans for Saturday after she explains she has plans with her mum. He cooks and she loves his Shephards pie.

Andrea manages to get Dani to eat three more bites of his food than any of them expected. She earns more points by doing the dishes. Those concerns that Sam has seems to slip away. Each kiss, when she is there for him and babysits, takes time to be around him as well as Dani melts both their hearts more.

Andrea needs just one more fitting with Dani for him to be all set and she wonders at the changes that are ahead of them. Her hopes to make love to him and yet fears how it would change everything. She takes Dani up to his fathers office and sees Sam’s desire for her.

Every chance Sam’s had he proves he is not her father, yet she still worries he might become him.

Sam gets called to save a young girl who’s having a really bad asthma attack. Andrea takes Dani back to gets, feeds, baths and reads to him before he falls asleep. Dani asks if this is where he lives now and Andrea explains that he is visiting like he does at auntie Cats. This makes her wish he was there more often.

Sam arrives a few hours later and he’s exhausted. He has a glass of wine and she makes him an omelette. She suggests he waits for her on the sofa since he is so tired. He agrees, when she serves his food he is asleep. In that moment having fallen for his kid and him she leaves him a note inviting him to stay over, where her bed room is if he wants to join her.

Sam finds the omelette and eggs when he wakes up. The note is a yes for him and he makes passionate love to Andrea. He sees a wall break down between them when Sam chooses her and Dani over his mission meeting. This allows them to spend two more nights together over the next week. In Sam’s mind this could not be going better.

When Dani gets his new eye Sam and Andrea bond over their fears. She has fallen for Sam and of course Dani. Her fears of never being able to paint though continue to rise.

A couple nights later after Sam tells her how he adopted Dani, Katie and making love again she opens up about her passion for painting, how she hates that she never has time to do it. She sees how this makes Sam uncomfortable but she has to be as open as him.

Andrea feels better after she lets Sam know her concerns. He becomes busy in his mind about telling her that he loves her and also about how to solve her problems with painting, working part time and her father. Andrea chews over the thoughts of what she will do with the news that Sam wants a big family, where that puts her.

Arriving at the hospital they see the news of the latest attack in Mexico. One of the residents asks them both to come to Mexicali where they hope to help people. This leaves Andrea thinking about Dani after Sam asks her if her passports up to date. Nether of them has decided whether they are staying or going.

Andrea meets up with Sam for lunch and walks into her father who dominates the conversation and demands she complies with the job application for the head of the O&A Department before storming away.

At lunch Sam explains how he is going on this mission and explains how it works with Dani. He even gives her all the time she needs to make her own decision. She does not disappoint when she shows up at 5.45am the next day and they head to Mexicali to start to help.

She sees a dozen patients then holds an art clinic at night. The kids flock to it and she falls in love with the response.

Andrea leaves so that Sam can talk to her, he tells her about a little boy who’s leg needs cleaning out. That they helped save it but he lost his parents and his uncle. He will he moved to an orphanage where he is unlikely to get the limp that he needs. He will likely have to spend time in Mexicali’s hospital until they can get the leg back to some sort of order.

This news breaks Andreas heart all over again. Sam and Andrea share a heart to heart about her feelings on parenthood. Same tells her that he loves her and this leads to her new routine. He backs her up at a family summoned dinner where she is relieved to see her mum doing better.

Andrea has a chance to have her work displayed in San Diego and she looks forward to it. She spends two weeks finishing her painting and working on the pro bono work for the patients she met in Mexicali.

Sam can’t get Fernando out of his head and when he suggests to Andrea about adopting him she freaks out. This leads him to telling her how he came to be at the Murphy’s and why he is a mess when it comes to needy children. Andrea is honest and open about her thoughts yet she is scared by the topic.

Dani tells Andrea that he loves her when she has to baby sit him after Sam’s emergency call. She can’t say she does so she tells Sam that Dani misses him. That hits a sore spot and more of Sam’s past comes out.

Sam is met by Dani wanting Andrea to put him to bed and he quickly realise that his kid loves her. Thinks of her as a mother so Sam starts thinking marriage and it’s scares him. Especially after Andrea getting the painting contract with the hospital, selling her first painting and being asked to do a cat for a couple. He worries if she will walk out on him too and he finds himself hoping his secret weapon will work when he stops by her house.

Sam makes a half hearted request for her to move in and reveals he got her the commission at the hospital. This leads her to kicking him out the house. A few days later Sam finds out that Dani’s cancer has returned and has to take time away with his son from work.

A letter from Mexicali arrives and her father shows it to Andrea along with her grandmother. She goes to share it with Sam and her dad tells her that Sams off with a family emergency. That has Andrea calming Sam who tells her the news.

Andrea realises that Sam needs her, but she needs him more. This leads to Andrea making a passionate plea to Sam for him to tell her that he needs her too. He does and they are back together.

A year and a half later

Dani is learning to use the clicker after losing his sight with the help of his new big brother Nando. The boy they had helped in Mexicali. She is eight and a half months pregnant, she has found herself, her mother had come out of her shell. Everything is working out.

A Mother for His Adopted Son by Lynne Marshall is one of those stories that will stay with me for a long time. From the moment I picked-up the book, I was glued to Sam and his son Danilo (Dani’s) heartfelt story. I was immediately drawn to the father that was going through an experience no one should have to with his three year-old adopted son. Dr. Sam Marcus met his son while on a Doctors’ Medical Mission to the Philippines. Dani was an orphan who lost his entire family in a typhoon. Sam didn’t want Dani to go through the life of being an orphan since he’d grown up in foster care since he’d been taken away from his mother at the age of ten.

Dani had retinoblastoma and had lost his eye. Shortly after surgery, Sam, in an emotional state, winds up in the Ocularistry and Anaplastology Department where he comes face to face with Andrea Rimmer. Andrea is an apprentice in the department making various prosthetics. To say Sam made a good first impression was far from the truth, yet in time, he develops a bond with Andrea.

Both Sam and Andrea have severe baggage. Sam has issues with a past girlfriend along with his childhood while Andrea has issues with both of her parents. Her mother has severe issues with depression and her father is demanding and won’t let Andrea live her own life.

I loved watching how Ms. Marshall dealt with both of their issues. Sam and Andrea had to learn how to trust one another and they both had to deal with their issues. Sam has such a big heart that I loved seeing while Andrea had to learn how to deal with her feelings for Dani and realizing that she could love a child. I loved watching their characters grow—realizing they both loved one another and also needed one another.

I’ve read a lot of Medical Romance books and have never read a book dealing with retinoblastoma. I loved how Ms. Marshall took us through all of the stages dealing with the disease. I learned a lot about the prosthetics behind the creation of an eye, ear, nose…etc. This is one of the reasons I read because I learn so much about various things.

A Mother for His Adopted Son is a fantastic read that I read in one sitting. I highly recommend it. I’d like to disclose that I received an advance copy of A Mother for His Adopted Son in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Well this is such an emotional heart-warming story you will be needing a box of tissues as you journey to a HEA that has lots of ups and downs as two people who help each other open up and reveal a part of themselves that they have kept closed of to everyone else and this is caused by issues that stem from their childhoods.

Dr Sam Marcus's childhood leaves a real mark on him and his adult life is about helping people the reason he became a doctor he now has an adopted son Dani who has cancer and loses an eye Dani is doing well but need a prosthesis and this meeting with the ocularist who makes the new eye will change his and Dani's lives.

Andrea Rimmer is an artist first but is pushed by her domineering father to take on an apprenticeship as an ocularist oh she loves what she does loves helping people but her art is calling to her and she has some decisions that need to be made and then in walks Dr Sam Marcus and his adorable son Dani and her life will change in such a good way.

I loved this story from the start as I have said it is powerfully emotional as well as sensual to see Sam and Andrea open up and see what their past had done to them and see them fall in love in such a sensual way and of course there is Dani who adds to this journey I highly recommend this one you will feel uplifted when you get to the end and there will be tears of joy sit back and enjoy but keep your tissues handy MS Marshall has bought a story to life on the pages where the characters are so real you will feel such a part of this story.

Author Lynne Marshall delivers an emotionally touching story in her latest medical romance: A Mother for His Adopted Son. The story is well-crafted and the characters touches your heart from page one. Dr. Sam Marcus hasn’t had an easy childhood but when the chance for him to adopt a son arises, he captures the opportunity with both hands. I found him to be a kind and honest man who has every attribute a loving father possesses. The little boy Dani will wriggle his way into your hearts. He is such a sweet soul. But what he went through was heart-wrenching. The heroine, Andrea Rimmer, has had to deal with controlling men in her past. So it makes it hard for her to let Sam into her life. But as she gets to know him better she is drawn towards him and little Dani makes their bonding more special. Andrea and Sam’s journey in sorting out the issues facing them adds layers of emotional drama.

The skilled writing of Lynne Marshall once again brings an extremely emotional storyline to life with believable circumstances and likable characters. Interwoven with a tragic medical problem is a potential romance between two individuals with past issues that continue to haunt them as adults. Much must be resolved before the couple can move on and find lasting happiness. A MOTHER FOR HIS ADOPTED SON is dramatically realistic and shows how despair can turn into something positive.

While Dr. Sam Marcus was in a foreign country to assist survivors of a typhoon, one young boy seems to like being around him all the time. After returning to California when his mission was over, the pediatrician kept recalling moments with Dani and decided to check into adopting the toddler. Though it took months, Sam eventually became a single father to one lovable boy. Sadly, the happy times did not last nearly long enough as the three-year-old has been diagnosed with eye cancer. Surgery brings the hope of continued life, but additional treatment would make the little guy look more normal.

An appointment is made with the hospital department where Andrea Rimmer works, but Sam wonders if the seemingly too young woman has the necessary expertise to help his son. But when he sees how well she gets along with Dani, he soon feels confident about using this particular specialist who makes prosthetic eyes. Being around Andrea so much has Sam thinking about dating again, something he has not desired since a painful breakup. With every new situation that puts them together, discovered facts tempt them to be in a relationship.

Often times, I am emotionally attached to characters in a story, but those featured in A MOTHER FOR HIS ADOPTED SON are especially endearing. From the doctor who is trying to aid young children in various ways to a woman who has much to give victims of disease or accidents, Sam and Andrea touched my heart on so many levels. Both are truly caring people who often go far beyond what duty demands, yet neither seems to realize just how much good they do on a daily basis. I greatly respected both of these characters for the caring concern they showed others. As for little Dani, I could not help but smile when his actions showcased his sweet personality.

Though Sam and Andrea come across as nice individuals when it is related to anything professional, their social lives have not brought them much joy. Sam’s childhood was not stable, and a grown-up relationship further added to him feeling not being worthy. The way in which Andrea was raised has her wary of letting someone get close, as she fears they may try to control her. While they really like each other, they have numerous worries to overcome before they can be fully devoted to another person. There is definitely plenty of sexual desire between the two, yet they also need to be emotionally connected to make things work out for them. I was kept in a state of anticipation waiting to see what each would finally decide. All the steps Dani has to go through are meticulously depicted with detailed facts and lots of intense feelings, while the romantic aspects are just as carefully portrayed. A MOTHER FOR HIS ADOPTED SON is emotionally affecting because of compelling realism. Lynne Marshall never ceases to amaze with her ability to constantly captivate.

Author Lynne Marshall's superlative storytelling skills are in full-force in the beautifully poignant contemporary romance, "A Mother for His Adopted Son". Dr. Sam Marcus is a devoted pediatrician--the emotional distress from his own early childhood gave him added empathy for the suffering of young children. On a medical mission to the Philippines, he connected with a small orphan boy, Danilo, known as "Dani". Never expecting to become a single father, Sam nonetheless knew that Dani was meant to be his son, and he proceeded with the adoption. Not long after Dani came home to the States with Sam, a malignant tumor was discovered on one of Dani's eyes. Surgical removal of the eye was necessary--to be followed by fitting for a prosthetic eye. Andrea Rimmer, an artist and skilled prosthetic maker, assists her grandmother, a renowned maker of prosthetic applications, in the same hospital where Sam works and where Dani had his surgery. The initial meeting between Sam and Andrea does not go well--he is emotional over Dani's surgery, and she is offended by his gruff manner. However, a spark of awareness of each other flickers to life, and as Andrea works to create a replacement eye for Dani, the spark becomes a fiery attraction. While they come to care for each other, and they both adore Dani, issues from their own childhoods create tensions in their new-found relationship. Sam knows his career path is to continue his work as a pediatrician and to answer the call of medical missions around the world when needed. Andrea is torn between her desire to find success as an artist and her love of helping her patients. Her own father, a physician in the same hospital where Sam, Andrea and her grandmother worked, was a very controlling man who insisted that Andrea take over her grandmother's practice when the time came for her to retire. Now, with Sam and Dani in her life, Andrea is pulled in yet another direction--is she the woman Sam cares for, or is she a convenient caregiver to his child? As they struggle to resolve the conflicts between them, a new crisis threatens to take away what they hold most dear. Can they find a loving compromise and join their hearts and their lives to reach out for a future filled with happiness? As always, Lynne Marshall's own professional background with more than twenty years as a registered nurse adds a world of meaning and understanding to her medical romances. Her way of explaining the medical elements of the story lines is done in such a way that the reader easily embraces the "medical speak" and the explanations of the conditions and procedures. My first encounter with Lynne Marshall's wonderful books was her "Mid-Coast Medical Trilogy", and since then, I have been a devoted fan and follower of her works.

A MOTHER FOR HIS ADOPTED SON is a well written, realistic story. The characters are true to life and you can almost develop relationships with them. We have two people who both have problems that have haunted them for years. There could be a possible romance between these two individuals but there is a serious medical issue. The realism in this story makes the reader become a part of the story and the character's lives. There are usually issues that have to be taken care of before two lives can emerge as one in love.

A young boy, Dani is always around Dr. Sam Marcus as he takes care of some typhoon survivors. When Sam goes back home, he is constantly thinking about adopting the little one. Soon Sam becomes a single father. The reader can almost pick that little boy up and hug him. That's how real this story is. The happy times came to an end when Dan is diagnosed with eye cancer. He is only three years old and is facing possible surgery and other treatment.

At a local hospital, there is a young woman, Andrea Rimmer who Sam isn't sure if she is the right one to treat Dani. As he watches her relate to Dani, Sam changes his mind. He now thinks she is the right specialist to treat Dani with a prosthetic eye. Does a romance develop between Sam and Andrea? Does Sam want to date again after the painful breakup he's been through? The problems between them came from their childhoods. There is the sexual desire between them but the baggage is holding them back. They have to find a way to settle all those old issues and learn to devote themselves to each other. This is so true of real life. The author, Ms. Marshall sends the reader through so many emotions, some that touch your heart and keep you turning those pages. The characters are caring and have so much to give others. You will find yourself falling in love with three year old , Dani. Ms. Marshall writes with such details and such emotion that the reader is totally connected to the story. Grab a copy and become immersed in the lives of Dani, Sam and Andrea.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book for my unbiased review. No other compensation took place.

Wow! I'm not sure that this is an adequate word to describe just how much I enjoyed this book. Lynne Marshall has written a truly heartwarming story that includes a precious three year old boy, the man who has adopted him and a young woman who finds herself drawn to both father and son.

Dr. Sam Marcus found a precious little boy named Danilo while working in a foreign country to aid the survivors of a typhoon. Soon, one year old Dani became Dr. Marcus's shadow and he found it difficult to leave the little boy when it was time for him to go. Once he had returned to his normal, everyday life, Sam kept thinking of Dani and, knowing personally the pain of being a foster child and how important it was to be chosen by a loving family, he began the process to adopt Dani. He thought that his longtime girlfriend would become his wife and Dani's mother but this was the wrong assumption and Sam ended up being a single adoptive father.

Life was good for a short while but now three year old Dani has been diagnosed as having eye cancer and his eye has to be removed. Sam wants him to look like every other three year old boy so he begins to search for the best person to fit Dani with a prosthetic eye. Andrea Rimmer seems to be that person but she has baggage of her own and their first meeting is less than pleasant. As she observes the special bond between Sam and Dani, Andrea is both intrigued and scared but she eventually agrees to design Dani's prosthetic eye. During this time of working closely with Sam and Dani, she casts reservations aside and discovers just how much she can love this father and his son!

The story of how these two wounded people deal with their past hurts to provide a little boy with a loving family is the reason I say Wow! The explanation of retinoblastoma and the steps in creating an artificial eye is very informative and educational. I won't soon forget this wonderful story by Lynne Marshall and I urge you to read it yourself.

I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review. No monetary compensation was received.

Lynne Marshall is one of those authors that can take you on an emotional ride with her fantastic writing. This book is a very emotional one dealing with Dr. Sam Marcus who grew up in foster homes, finding a young boy orphaned by a typhoon, on one of his medical missions and feels and infinity with him. So he adopts the boy , loses his fiancé over it but feels he made the right choice. What happens is his little 4 year old Dani get retina cancer and must lose an eye. Emotionally drained after viewing the surgery he goes in search of the head specialist that makes prosthetic eyes, and finds her not there but her granddaughter Andrea Rimmer covering. Andrea is an artist and she designs in the prosthetics department also but is trying to find what she really wants to do, art or cover for her grandmother in this windowless department when she retires. Her father who is controlling feels he can make her decisions for her, so she doesn't need a headstrong man, but Sam walks in and sparks fly. He wants answers and she doesn't like his attitude. She realizes she has been cruel after she finds out what he is dealing with and has to meet Dani before she can make his eye and from there you have the beginning of a lovely relationship, or is it. Does Sam like her or is it because she and Dani get along so well and that she is always there to take care of him when Sam can't. Not giving any more of the story away this is one you should definitely read Ms. Marshall does an exceptional job with this emotional story but as always she leaves you with a wonderful ending. Her stories always touch your heart this is what makes her the fantastic author she is.

A Mother for His Adopted Son by Lynne Marshall
Dr. Sam Marcus has worked in the Medical Mission in the Philippines and fell for a little orphan over there. Dani used to follow Dr. Sam all over and he got so used to it that Sam adopted him. Dani was 3 years old and had retinoblastoma and had lost his eye. Dr. Sam searched out the department in the hospital that he knew could make an eye for Dani so that he would not feel different then all the other children and also so the other children would not make fun of him. Sam became Dani’s dad after he had lost his family due to a typhoon. Sam himself had been taken from his mom when he was ten and he knew he did not want Dani shuffled from foster home to foster home.
In the Ocularistry and Anaplastology Department at the hospital that Dr. Marcus works he met the talented Andrea Rimmer. Andrea could make an eye for Dani that you could not tell was a fake eye so Dani would not look different.
Sam and Andrea found out that they both had issues from childhood that needed to be addressed and yet they could learn to trust each other and also be a joined force as someone that Dani could count on.
Lynne Marshall handled this story about this little boy losing an eye in a wonderful way. I felt that I could not put this book down and it will be remembered by me for a long time.
Please take the time to enjoy this heartfelt story and you will not be disappointed.

A MOTHER FOR HIS ADOPTED SON by author Lynne Marshall is a Harlequin Medical Romance series release for January 2016.

Dr. Sam Marcus is a single parent to his adopted son Dani who had cancer of the eye and would go blind. He met Andrea Rimmer and she made a prosthetic eye for Dani.

But Andrea fell for little Dani the first time she met him. Could she say ‘no’ to Sam when he asked her to move in with them? Could she be sure Sam loved her and doesn’t just want a substitute mom for his son?

A MOTHER FOR HIS ADOPTED SON is a heart-warming story that would touch a reader’s heart and make them reach for tissues. It’s a tale about moving from past griefs and taking chances at love. Yet moving past the grief and sadness they discover new joy and love in their lives. This inspiring romance gives a reader the lesson that no matter what tragedy befalls you, there is always hope. Author Lynne Marshall, in her unique way, brought this emotional story to live amid all the medical drama.

Highly recommended for all readers of medical romance.

Andrea and Sam had a stormy first meeting. She worked in the Ocularistry and Pathology Department. Sam's adopted son, Danilo, Dani for short, had just lost his eye to a form of eye cancer. There second meeting goes better. They end up going on a dinner date. Andrea and Sam have a rocky climb to opening up to each other even though they both profess to love the other. They both have insecurities from their childhoods to overcome. With a child's innocence Dani moves them closer together.

Lynne Marshall writes medical romances with a lot of heart. They are realistic and make the situations very normal. I was cheering for all three of them shortly after I started to read. I enjoyed the glimpse of the medical mission that she shared. At the end of the book, you are left wanting more.

"A Mother for His Adopted Son" by Lynne Marshall is one of the most heart touching stories I've read. Dr. Sam Marcus adopted his little boy Dani after he lost his family in a typhoon, and the little boy ends up getting retinoblastoma. When Dani loses his eye to Cancer they look up Andrea Rimmer who is able to make a prosthetic eye that will make the little boy less conspicuous since losing his eye. Both have demons that they must face in their past in order to move on with each other and the future. I loved this book, and recommend it.

Sam and Andrea felt magic when they first met. It became stronger as Andrea worked with Sam's adopted son Dani. She was making Dani the perfect replacement for the eye he had lost to cancer. Sam wasn't sure he could love again. His first priority was to his son. Andrea was getting very attached to both of them as she attempted to complete her work. The more time she spent with them, the more she was falling in love with them both. Will these three survive what could be in store for them?
You will have to read to find out. I received this book from the author to review.

Sam and Andrea were amazing characters in this book. They had to learn to trust in love again and open their hearts to not only each other but to the orphans and their own passions. Dani was a loveable little boy with a huge medical challenge and stole my heart. This book is another winner for Lynne Marshall! Provided by author in exchange for an honest review.

This book took me out of my comfort zone as I hate reading about any child dealing with any problem medical or being orphaned. It tugged at my heart from the very beginning. But, the well developed characters and the happily ever after made it a wonderful read! It was interesting getting a look at a mission trip written into a romance. I really enjoyed this book!
