Holly Woods is going to hell in a handbasket—but this time, Satanists aren’t to blame. Halloween is.

Nonna doesn’t understand why there are skeletons and demons everywhere. Mom is threatening to stitch a devil into Nonna’s pillowcase if she doesn’t shut up. Bek is bumbling over a date with Jason, the handsome FBI agent who conveniently got himself relocated to Austin, and I… Well. I’m considering running away to a town without the crazies.

Nothing new here.

Everything is going smoothly—too smoothly—and I can’t shake the feeling that something is about to happen. Drake insists I’m being paranoid… But when a body turns up at the Holly Woods Halloween party, we have a whole lot more than a murderer to worry about.

Because the prime suspect is his mom.

And it’s my job to prove she’s innocent.

My favorite Italian family is back and they are crazier than ever!!!!! I don't think Holly Woods, Texas will ever be the same when you have a Nonna that is over the top dramatic, crazy and lovable. And oh yeah, we can't forget Nonna's unfiltered mouth and Noelle's crazy obsession with cupcakes and Drake.

As a big fan of this series, I couldn't wait to once again get twisted, tangled, tethered and now tied to all the craziness that I know only Emma Hart can deliver. And in this fourth installment, Tied Bond, Noelle finds herself once again connected to another murder investigation. Halloween was supposed to be a night full of fun times but our favorite PI will find herself trying to track down a killer and saving her boyfriend's mother from being accused of murder. Drake Nash is a detective who is called on to solve crimes and get to the bottom of things. But what happens when he knows the victim personally and his mother is the prime leading suspect? Will Drake find himself spooked out of his mind? Or will his cupcake come to his mom's rescue and save the day?

So if you love a smart sassy feisty heroine with a crazy Italian family and a smart mouth boyfriend, then I highly urge readers to read Tied Bond. Emma Hart will have you laughing hysterically as the crazy nonsense and antics that only Noelle, her family, and Drake can get into.. also there might be a demon dog involved in the madness. What else can I say but go read this book and be bewitch by Emma Hart's witty prose and raw characters.

ARC REVIEW 4 stars

The Holly Wood Files series reminds me of the first time I tried truffles. The first few bites were amazing, the best thing I ever tasted. The last few bites, I could barely finish. It was simply too rich, too much of a good thing. I hit that saturation point in the last book. Noelle was getting on my one last nerve with her cupcake eating and her TSTL antics. But I love Noelle when she is with Drake. I love how they feed off each other. I also love Noelle’s family. Their interactions are no-holds-bar and on more than one occasion they have been the source of some serious snorting.

I confess I didn’t like the beginning of this book. Everything that bugs me about Noelle is upfront and in my face and I cringe each time I heard her mention cupcakes, yoga pants, and coffee. It’s just too much. Too many indulgences. I want my heroines to have a little more discipline than having to run out for cupcakes every time she runs into an obstacle. But ultimately, I am thrilled that I finished this story, for just when I thought I couldn’t take any more, I had a snort-water-through-your-nose belly laugh moment. Just two words: cars and condiments. This interaction at the car dealership loosened up the screws for me and made me realize why I love this series. The banter is fun. Whether it is with her boyfriend, Drake, her grandmother, Nonna, her bestfriend, Beks, or any other her brothers, the wit is infectious. Okay, sometimes if is sophomoric, but still in a fun-loving way. This is where Emma Hart shines in her writing.

The other upshot is again Noelle and Drake. Drake has more voice in this book. Noelle is such a wild character sometimes she overshadows Drake. Here, he has more presence in the relationship and we get to really know how he feels about Noelle. It is absolutely dreamy.

If I could change one thing about Noelle, I would ask Ms. Hart to consider giving Noelle a little more confidence. She is constantly complaining that she gets little respect, especially from her brothers, but then she second-guesses herself on every occasion. I understand that it is a show of vulnerability, but in this book, the scale is constantly tipped toward self-doubt and find myself yelling at her to get a grip.

Again, the secondary characters really shine in this book. Over the top Nonna is a real standout. I did want to see more of Noelle’s brothers, but we already have a crowded field of characters and since there is more of Drake, I can wait until the next book to get more of Brody, Devon, and Trent.

IN A NUTSHELL:
This one is too fun to pass up.

Tied Bond is another fantastic book in an already wonderful series. This book was the perfect mix of Suspense and Romance, with a little crazy from the Bond family to add the comic relief to this story. The books in this series just continue to get better and better as they are released!! Tied Bond kept me guessing all the way through. Just when I thought I knew who it was, another twist was thrown in there and I was back at the beginning…lol :)

I truly believe Emma out did herself with this book. I really loved the storyline of this one. She sucked me right from the start. I have found that I have really enjoyed the books in this series that the focus is primarily on the suspense side of the story and not so focused on Drake and Noelle. Although I really do love Drake and Noelle as a couple the mysteries built into this series are what keep me coming back.

As with all my reviews on this series, this review will be vague and short. Being that this is a suspense filled story, anything I say about the storyline could be a potential spoiler. I will say that I am extremely happy with the direction Drake and Noelle’s relationship is going. I thought this book really focused on them working together (somewhat) and not always running away. I look forward to where Emma will take these two in the future. I am also hoping that the storyline with Bek takes off somewhere too.

Without giving anything away, this storyline was interesting, because it hit a little too close to home for both Drake and Noelle. These two characters were put into positions that they are not used to and it was interesting to see what direction they chose. I thought this book was very well written. I also loved that we got the perfect mix of mystery and romance. I loved seeing Drake and Noelle’s relationship moving in a positive direction. As always their unique banter and the crazy rantings of Nonna, made me laugh so many times!!!

Tied Bond is NOT a standalone book. Just like the previous books in this series, the mystery storyline is completed by the end of the book, but Drake and Noelle’s story continues on. So it is strongly recommended to read these books in order!!!

So if you are a fan of Emma Hart, you don't want to miss this book!!! I would also recommend this book/series to anyone who is a fan of a romantic suspense story. If you like a book that is full of twists and turns, mystery, and intrigue…..then PICK this book up, you won't be sorry!!!

This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites! These books are hilarious, suspenseful and hot all at once!

In Tied Bond things are going great for Drake and Noelle, until his mother is the prime suspect in a murder in town. Noelle’s caught between a promise to always tell Drake the truth, and helping his mother clear her name, and her reasoning behind what she does is quite hilarious!

Nonna and Noelle’s mom’s fighting is out of control in this book and I couldn’t help laughing at loud multiple times while reading this story. Everyone needs a Nonna in their life, but maybe one they only have to see every year or so, because I think we’d all be in the same boat as the rest of the Bond family and go crazy if we had to have her with us every day.

Even though this book is full of “who done it” references as to who killed Wally, it’s not as suspenseful as the previous books in this series. I had a hard time trying to figure out who was responsible for the murder, but when it came out who it was, I wasn’t shocked really. I loved watching Noelle working to help Drakes mom and then watching her boss around Drake and Jason throughout this story. Because of the circumstances in this book, Drake has a lot of spare time on his hands and gets involved with Noelle’s business. Watching their back and forth and seeing how close they’ve become was amazing, but their arguments and their making up was even better.

I really enjoyed getting to see more romance in this book then in the previous ones. Seeing Drake and Noelle’s relationship growing and moving ward was something I’ve wanted for awhile and I’m glad I finally got it! Also seeing Noelle and her brother Trent going toe to toe was heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time. The Bond children are all crazy, opinionated, and always think they are right, so when two are disagreeing, it never goes good.

Tied Bond was a perfect addition to this series, but not my favorite in the series so far. This one was a bit predictable, but the laugh out loud moments, and the Drake and Noelle relationship made up for it. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series to see what kind of trouble Noelle gets herself into next!

“I know I tease him about it a lot, but it really is one of my favorite things about him. The strong, protective side of him that roars any time I come within a sniffing distance of danger is one of the parts I love about him most….Especially since he hasn’t yelled at me yet. It could totally change when we get back to my place, because I can practically feel the anger buzzing inside him, but you know. For now, I like that.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I just can’t get enough of this series. It is literally like getting to watch my favorite tv show, but instead, I get to hold the story in my hands. With each new installment, I can’t help but burn through the pages to see just what trouble or situation Noelle will find herself in next.

From the moment you pick up Tied Bond, you are drawn into the story and won’t be able to put it down. When we meet up with Drake and Noelle, things are in a bit of chaos. Nonna and mom are fighting. Bek is stressing over a date with Jason. And everything that can go wrong does, especially when a dead body shows up at a Halloween party. To make matters worse, the prime suspect is Drake’s mom. So, now the question is, will Noelle be able to solve the crime and set Drake’s mother free??

Tied Bond is a fantastic addition to the Holly Woods Files series. It is entertaining and their certainly is never a dull moment. It’s got the perfect balance of action, suspense, drama and romance. Emma Hart has once again provided me with a fabulous story, and I for one can’t wait to see what hot water Noelle will land herself in next. Fans of this series, you will not be disappointed.

Another dead body, more relationship road bumps, and a whole lot of snark and sass. Noelle is a firecracker and she's not afraid to let everyone around her know it. She and Drake still fight just to fight, but their relationship is definitely moving forward.

Which isn't to say it isn't without drama. Drama is their middle name. Considering their propensity for arguing, Drake's mom asking Noelle to keep things from Drake wasn't cool. I mean, you could just feel the epic firestorm that was going to hit once he found out. YOU COULD FEEL IT.

But Noelle is Noelle and she has to do what she feels is right. Even if the right way has her taking the hardest path imaginable. So she sets out to do her thing and chooses to weather the Drake-storm when it comes.

You know, you do have to admire a lady who takes full responsibility for her actions. She knew it wasn't going to be pretty, but she also knew it was something she needed to do. So she did it.

That still doesn't mean I'm not a bit peeved by his mom's request.

Sexy times, passionate arguing, and a dead body. GOOD TIMES, man. Good times.

Tied Bond is the perfect title for the events that occur with Noelle and Drake in the newest Holly Wood Files release. Not only is Drake's mom the number one suspect in a murder case, which puts Drake in a precarious position as the lead police detective, but his connection to the victim also makes everything a bit more complicated. Throw in the fact that Drake's mom wants Noelle's help but doesn't want Drake to know about it and all of the progress that Noelle and Drake have made on their relationship is put to the test, yet again, illustrating how closely tied together a small town is and what the repercussions are when one of its own is killed.

Noelle continues to be the badass private detective who puts her heart and soul in every case, digging through the evidence and sorting fact from fiction. This time around, she has a huge vested interest in her case because she can’t allow her boyfriend’s mom to go to jail when she knows in her gut that Gianna didn’t commit the crime. Just like every murder case she helps solve, the clues take Noelle and the Holly Woods PD in many directions, but Drake’s expertise can’t be used, so, once again, Noelle’s going to have to go head to head with a murderer and hope that just like the two other times, she can bring justice to the victim and remain unharmed.

Tied into solving another murder case is the ever growing bond between Noelle and Drake. They still piss each other off and get under each other’s skin, but readers can tell that their relationship is solid, and even though a bigger commitment scares the hell out of Noelle, she knows Drake is it for her, so she’s doing her best to overcome her fears and give more of herself to Drake because she knows their connection is strong enough to handle her freak outs.

Noelle’s been twisted, tangled, and tethered in both her personal and professional life and now that she’s tied to a man who loves her with every piece of himself, we’ll see how she twirls and twines her life with his, hopefully burning up the sheets and taking down criminals together.

I liked it, I really did, once the story finally started, which, unfortunately, wasn't until a bit more than halfway through the book.

I'll start with what I loved. I really love Drake. Throughout this series, he's been consistently a good man with no variations in his character... no making him less than a stellar, lovable, stand-up guy. I love his and Noelle's relationship and the growth I see between them. It's sweet and loving and romantic. Beyond the slight hesitation and commitment-phobic pauses, there is really not much back and forth, break-up-and-get-back-together nonsense other series like to pull. It's refreshing.

I also love the strong sense of family between the Bonds. Even though they disagree and all out fight, they have each others' backs. They love fiercely and fight for one another even if they don't see eye to eye. The description sounds cliche, but unfortunately, families these days, especially those in most novels, aren't as tight-knit, with the family dinners and the devotion, as this one. I envy them.

What I didn't really like was how predictable this book was. The murderer was so obvious, but it almost seemed like the author intended it that way. I also am not a fan of the cupcake obsession, and Nonna is still a bit grating, especially the accented English, spelled the way she talks. It gets a bit old. However, I did love her sleuthing. That was adorable.

Usually, Emma Hart is pretty racy. It seems as though each Bond book is tamer than the last. Not that it's terrible, but if the focus is going to shift from the investigation aspect and focus on the romance, like this book seemed to do, then it would be nice too see all aspects of the romance bloom.

I might have included an extra star if the beginning wasn't quite as humdrum as it was.

I haven't read anything of Emma Hart's before , but this series is one I am going to go back and purchase the three earlier books as it was a LOL Series as Holly Woods works as a Private Investigator whom always seems to be finding herself in trouble and she has a thing for cupcakes and sweets , which must be a PI thing. Her Character reminded me alot of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum as she always finds herself in trouble, has a lot of humour in places and it could be the whole Italian family scenario but even the Nana aka Nonna in Tied Bond reminded me of Grandma Mazur except for the fact that Grandma Mazur would be considered as a Evil version of this Grandma as this one is staunch Catholic , hates Demons and loves to cook. Holly's fiance is Drake -who works as a Detective , there is an FBI agent called Jason and also Holly's brothers are on the Police Force. In Tied Bond, one of Drake mothers former lover Wally turns up dead after she is seen arguing with him and ends up being Number one on the suspect list and the evidence continues to pile up against her . With her own son shutting her out and the police force not looking in any other directions - well not fast enough anyway. Gianna heads to Holly for help in clearing her name and discovering who framed her. Can Holly find out the truth before anyone else is killed or has to suffer ? If you love Romantic Comedies with a Mystery and Murder Twist , then The Holly Wood Files Series is the books for you. Perfect for those Janet Evanovich, Lisa Lutz and Darynda Jones fans.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts for an honest review.

So I just love that with each book this series just gets better and better there are so many LOL moments and fabulous characters that believe me you will be hooked from the get go.

Drake and Noelle's relationship is going really good they are both pretty new to this whole relationship thing but seem to be making it work, that is until Drake's mum becomes the prime suspect in a murder. This puts Noelle between a rock and a hard place as she fights to always tell Drake the truth whilst at the same time trying to get his mum out of the mess she finds herself in.
Emma Hart gives us some hilarious moments and some of my favourites come from Nonna and Noelle's mother their arguments are epic I also enjoyed seeing a sifter side to Drake in this book too.
Overall another amazing read read from Emma Hart and I can't wait for the next installment.

This was my least favorite one....the bickering, the back and forth. I didn't think it was as funny. While I love Drake, Noelle was borderline annoying until the last 15% or so. I definitely will be reading the next, just because I am interested in the progression of their relationship, but I hope it's better. It was literally just okay...3 stars

The books in this series keep coming, and I can't enough of them. I love Drake and Noelle!

There's another murder in Holly Woods and this time Drake's mother is the main suspect.
Noelle and Drake are closer than ever, but will this new murder try and tear them apart?

Emma Hart will have you guessing who the murderer is until they are caught. I thought for sure I knew who did it this time, but once again, I didn't. Tied Bond has suspense, heat and heart. The gang is back and so are the crazy times. I enjoyed being back in the world of the Holly Woods Files and I can't wait to read the next one! ~ Leah, 5 stars

Really, Emma??? Did you crawl inside my brain and stalk me when you started writing Noelle? So many times I found myself falling all over laughing and then realized…oh, shit, I’ve said that or done that, or, maybe I am funny! Because I’m sitting here dying from laughing so hard I can’t breathe.

Nonna. Gio. Drake. Noelle. High Heels. Gigi’s. All of these things are simply fantabulous when combined to make an explosive and riotous series, especially when you add a bit of murder to the story!

“I need a cupcake rehab or something. Wait. No. Nobody needs cupcake rehab. Cupcake rehab. What a ridiculous thought.”

Story of my LIFE! Cupcakes are divine! Today I won’t be a cupcake quitter!

Welcome to Halloween in Holly Woods. Nonna doesn’t like the decor. She’s fighting with everyone in sight, especially Noelle’s mother. Gio is back to calling everyone a ‘wench’ and the Bond antics are an extreme high. But Holly Woods wouldn’t be the same without a murder. This time figuring out whodunit hits much closer to home. Noelle struggles with doing what is right for her and keeping the promise she made. No matter what, someone is going to get hurt. As long as her heels aren’t a casualty of war, and her cupcakes arrive on time as required, life will be good…or will it?

The wit and banter of these characters is fun and entertaining. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. I was tossed into the deep end of the ocean with fun, sassy, crazy chaos and I loved every stinking minute of it.

Laughter is good for the soul and cupcakes are good for…well, in this case, read Tied Bond and live vicariously through all the Gigi’s that Noelle eats, and maybe you’ll build abs of steel from the laughing and the carbs will go to her ass, not yours! You’ll thank me later!! I promise!! ~ Heather, 5 Fantabulous stars

~~~
Noelle and Drake are in a bit of a peaceful, blissful lull… Life if good. Business is busy, with normal cheating spouses and the daily required intake of cupcakes. Things are normal. Well, except for Nonna, her aberration of Halloween decorations and her craziness that brings out both the best and worst in people.
All it takes is one dead body for all hell to break loose—especially when it’s revealed the prime suspect in the murder is Drake’s mother, Gianna. Now, it’s up to Noelle to prove Gianna’s innocence. Easier said than done.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Even with yet another murder in tiny Holly Woods, the crux of the story is about relationships. Noelle and Drake are front and center. The whole relationship thing is new territory for Noelle and she’s petrified. Drake is her rock—he completely understands her and is ready and willing to soothe her fears and wait her out. I love that about him!
There’s also Noelle’s family dynamic in play—exactly what her role is within the family. She’s the “baby” and only girl, yet somehow she’s the strongest one. Her relationship with her brother is sorely tested this go-around, and it’s awesome how their sibling rivalry and relationships are portrayed. I also loved the dynamic between Drake and his mom, Gianna. She’s still holding in her secrets, but it’s obvious she loves her son and will do anything to protect him and his feelings.
I am wholeheartedly invested in this little town in Texas. I cannot wait for Twirled Bond to be released this summer to catch up with Noelle and Drake as they embark on the next stage of their relationship. ~ Missy, 5 stars
TATIA'S REVIEW
Everything about this series is perfection. There's humor, romance, suspense. When you put them all together, it makes for my favorite series.
Up until this point in the, there has been a lot of suspense in each book. It was packed full, and you were left guessing about who or what was causing it all. Tied Bond was a little different. All of the components were still there, there just weren't as large doses of it all.
Noelle and Drake's relationship is as strong as ever. The fact that Drake continues to put up with Noelle's family is a testament to how much he loves her. With his mom back in town, we're getting to see a different side to Drake. Things are finally calm in Holly Woods, at least that's what Noelle is thinking. That is, until they're not. Only difference with this case is that she doesn't have Drake's help. He's not allowed on the case at all.
I kind of loved that there wasn't as much drama in this book. We got to see more of Drake and Noelle's relationship, how they're growing together. Nonna is just as great as well. She is getting in to just as much trouble as usual.
This series is just so easy to read. All of the elements that make it great are ones that I look for when finding the next best book. Emma Hart just happens to be amazing at mixing them all together. I'll be impatiently waiting for the next book as usual!
TRACY'S REVIEW
Tied Bond is the 4th book in the Holly Woods Files. You need to start at the beginning with Twisted Bond because well... why the hell wouldn't you? You'll want to fall for Drake from the beginning.
This time around the craziness in Holly Woods hits too close to home for Drake. Noelle is asked to help without Drake knowing about it. Noelle gets to be that bad ass investigator we all know she is, while getting to work closely with Drake again. Sigh....OH! And of course there is Nonna! Good god I love that crazy grandma!!
I love love love the way Emma Hart has brought these characters to life. Drake is just a dreamy hunk of a detective and Noelle is a kickass, cupcake loving heroine we want in a book. You'd be crazy not to want to read this series. Funny and romance all rolled into one.
Noelle and Drake are one of my favorite fictional couples in a book series. Their relationship isn’t full of on-again-off-again back and forth, but the dynamic of two strong minded and determined people making it work. Their relationship provides a great balance of drama and chemistry, not to mention it’s funny as hell. The two of them together is not the only source of comic relief. Noelle’s quick wit and sarcasm are probably my favorite part of this series. The woman also takes no crap and I love it! There is also the element of the slightly dysfunctional and crazy Italian family thing going on, none of which are more crazy than Nonna.
In Tied Bond Noelle finds herself on the other end of the spectrum. Instead of trying to prove someone guilty, she is trying to prove Drake’s mom innocent of murdering her ex-husband. Tension arises between not only her and Drake, but between her and her detective brothers as well. Noelle’s secret is revealed, and Drake’s mom as a secret of her own. There are some real feels tangled up in all of that too!
Emma Hart writes sexy murder mysteries so well, I have equal amounts respect and fear for her. Can’t wait to see what she brings next in this series!
*update Reread September 2016 Man, this book was even better the second time around! Getting ready for Burning Bond with a reread of all these books!
I missed these characters!
I know that whenever I read a book in this series I will not be disappointed. These books always make me laugh and the chemistry between Noelle and Drake is always sizzling. I really can't wait and read more about what will happen with them.
The banter between Noelle and Drake was great as always and of course, a Holly Woods book isn't complete without a murder mystery. From the beginning I couldn't really pinpoint the killer until it was closer to the end where things were heating up. I am so glad I found this series last year, it has become one of my ALL TIME favorite series. Everything about Noelle, Drake and the families involved make up the story. Noelle's mom and Nonna had quite a lot going on as well but Nonna sure does shine and surprise us in this book as well ;) I just can't get enough of these characters and I am super excited to keep reading more on them later!
I really enjoyed this one! It had more of an emotional impact than the previous installment I'd say. And I really love the family dynamic in this series. Especially how Noelle is with her brothers.
And Nonna was much more bearable in this book. I actually kinda liked how she was in this. Not too annoyingly intrusive like the previous books. She was actually a little funny.
And I got a better sense of Drake and Noelle's relationship. I get the whole sassy persona, and sometimes Noelle is just too sassy for me to relate to so it's hard to connect with the story, but in Tied Bond I liked how there was much more of a discussion between Drake and Noelle and not just smartass comments.
The book was perfect. There were somethings that still bothered me. The whole investigation aspect does feel a little repetitive and I want something new in the next books. Does Noelle have to always come face to face with the killers? Does she always have to be involved in these cases one way or another?
As I said, I would like to see something new. Other than that, I really enjoyed this.
I always get a touch giddy when I open my Kindle to find a Holly Woods Files book waiting for me since I absolutely adore this series. Tied Bond is another fun, laugh-out-loud, suspenseful addition that not only left me satisfied but, wanting more.
Since this is the fourth installment, we still get all the charm that drew us in. Noelle seems to end up smack-dab in the middle of a death investigation, deals with her crazy-ass Nonna who’s hell-bent on making her daughter-in-laws life miserable and avoiding an ankle-biting-shoe-destroying dog. However, this is Noelle Bond, she will survive with the help of a few cupcakes a day.
What I loved the most?! The progression in Drake and Noelle’s relationship. They seem to be past the yelling arguments and avoiding each other tantrum’s. Now, their being sensible and talking the problems out. They are the yin to each other’s yang with their funny banter and I can’t wait to see their relationship go to the next level.
Bring on book 5, Twirled Bond, that’s set to release in June!
I'm addicted to reading of the relationship between Drake and Noelle! I live for their parts of the story! The steamy bits, the arguments, the sweet yet still sassy bits and the downright fun banter between them! I would happily read their story without any murders!! I feel for the residents of Holly Woods - they're all getting bumped off one by one!! LOL
To me, personally, the bits with Gio and Drake's Mom's dog are irrelevant but don't distract from the hotness of Droelle but become a minor annoyance and slightly OTT.
That said, Nonna was amazing in this fourth part of the Holly Woods Files series! And I loved that we saw more of the emotional side of Detective Nash this time.
We saw a lot more from the side characters and it's nice to see their stories develop just like Noelle and Drake's. I'm excited to see what happens next!
4 twisty, tantalising stars...
Tied Bond is the next thrilling installment of the Hollywood's series, featuring the ever sexy Drake and the super sassy Noelle. These two infect me like no other, their love/hate relationship is not only funny but addicting. They are HOT, sinfully sexy and soooo good together.
Once again I was strapped onto the Droelle, Emma Harts tantalising, turbulent roller coaster and taken on one hell of a spin.
Murder and mystery reigns supreme in this superb, suspenseful story that I devoured, just like its previous counterparts. It's hard not to grow attached to Emma's characters and constantly want more... Hurry up June!!
I really love Noelle and Drake. I find Noelle's obsession with cupcakes adorable. Also, Nonna is funny. I love how Drake acts when Noelle gets in a situation with the killer. He is like "Seriously, Noelle, another killer?" I find it cute that she can't help it. I love their relationship.
It is really special and genuine. I can't wait for the next books. I love her family. They make me laugh and show me that family is always important. They are my favourite Italian family. I think the fact that they work together is an advantage. Overall, an amazing read.
"He called me a cruel genius. It was real sweet."
"Then she called herself a bitch and started preening like a peacock needing to get laid," Drake finishes.
Jason's eyes flick between us, and he pauses, rubbing his thumb across his jaw. "Has anyone ever asked you two how you make this relationship work?"
"More than once. We dont know either."
In the fourth installment of the Holly Woods series, things get personal really fast. Someone is trying to frame Gianna - Drake's mom - for a murder that happened on halloween and her son is not allowed to investigate, what shall a girl gotta do then? Right. Knowing Noella, investigate herself.
Before, we dive deeper in the dramatics of this case, I have to admit Gianna is a sweet lady and way easier to handle than Nonna, that woman drives me batshit crazy. Gianna is the sweet Italian mum in her sixties who still has more of an adventurous sexlife than her son. Cackled at this one.
Gianna purses her lips. "well, that's unfortunate. Can't a woman have sex without her son sniffing around?"
"oh shit," Drake groans. "I dont want to hear this."
I laugh. "Then leave the wine and disappear."
Sure some of her decisions were questionable, but haven't we all done something questionable? Exactly my point.
The Bond family still is on a rampage, though this time there was a knifefight in the kitchen involved, still surprised that they are all alive after their fight.
"No, I dont want coffee. unless its laced with arsenic and given to my mother-in-law."
"Mom, maybe you should calm down," I try.
Italian 'passion' cannot calm down. They can only heighten the dramatics in this one. I would have passed someone a Xanax just to get through Friday's family dinner.
The banter between Noella and Drake will never stop, though they are finally getting the hang out of not pissing each other off daily. The murdercase was kinda cool and I did speculate a lot of who it could have been, but at one point it was clear and the reason didn't shock me either, however the scandal was amazing enough. Wonder that so much bullshit can pass in a small town.
"liar. Look at you. Youre like a teenaged boy looking at a Playboy magazine."
"I have a hardon?"
"Ay yai yai," Nonna muttees, slamming the knife down.
"If you get a hard-on over garlic bread, we are breaking up."I look at him pointedly and sip my wine.
"It's really hot garlic bread" drake responds, his eyebrows shooting up.
I just have no words for this book….. Emma Hart has done it again but this time I found myself laughing a hell of a lot more than the previous books and that’s only thanks to Nonna….. If you’ve read the first few books of this series, then you’ll know who Nonna is but whilst she is a crazy old woman, she is one hell of an amazing person. Seriously, I kept laughing so much that I’m surprised I didn’t fall over or wet myself due to the amount I was laughing. This whole book was incredible and Emma took it in so many directions that I had no idea what was going to happen. Emma has such an amazing mind that I’m honestly scared to see how far it can go with coming up with all these mystery books, although I am excited to see what happens in the next book because this has been my favourite one by far. Noelle for me was the most strongest in this book out of the others I’ve read and you can see that she’s grown into such an amazing person, don’t get me wrong her cupcake addiction and her need for wine and shoes is questionable at times, but it’s well worth it because she wouldn’t be her if she wasn’t into needing them as much as she does. She makes independent and being crazy a strange version of normal, but honestly it works out in her favour. I’m also loving the chemistry between her and Drake, you can see that they care about each other and whilst Noelle is afraid of letting her guard down and letting others into her life, she is doing her best with Drake. Emma did a good job with this one and I seriously couldn’t fault it. I’m looking forward to seeing how things develop in the next one and also seeing what else Nonna can get up to. Seriously, these books are well worth the read.
Noelle and Drake have been enjoying their freedom of not having to deal with any homicides, and whilst it’s great to have the freedom of not needing to figure out who a killer is, Noelle can’t help shake the feeling that something is about to happen…. She tries putting it aside, but it doesn’t look like things are about to get any easier on them, as the next thing that happens is Drake’s mother is the prime suspect in a homicide and with no other witnesses it looks like his mom is set to go down for the crime….. With his mom going to Noelle for help to clear her name, will Noelle be able to find out who is the culprit or does it look set that Drake’s mom will go down for something that she may not have even done?
Like strong willed, mouthy heroines? Well Noelle Bond is your girl. She is a Texan with Italian blood raised in a family of cops.
This series follows Private Investigator Noelle Bond and Police Detective Drake Nash throughout the series. Their relationship advancement is ongoing throughout each book but the murder/murders that are investigated are solved by end of that book.
OMG – I think this was the funniest of the series.. Nonna doesn't like Halloween and the lengths she goes to prevent Noelle's mom from putting up those demons (decorations) was laugh out loud funny.. I think one of the reason I felt like this was the best and funniest of the series is everything is now established. We've met all the characters and come to love them. Noelle and Drake are in a committed relationship now (still butting heads along the way though). Everything seems to be going great.. Even Drake's mom is coming back to town...
Well as Noelle was feeling – when things are going too well you know something is going to happen.. And that it does.. A murder at the town's Halloween party and the prime suspect in the murder is none other than Drake's mom, Gianna..
Surprise, Noelle is in the middle of trying to solve another murder. What kind of detectives are they in this town when the obviously can't figure out what is going on and have to depend on Noelle to figure things out? When they don't even take the necessary steps to actually confirm evidence or even seem to look for anything. This whole office looks like a bunch of idiots.
As for this one I knew immediately who was guilty. There really isn't much mystery to these books after the first few.
