Rate this book
Morocco February 20th 2011.Inspired by ‘people power’ in other Arab states, excited crowds overcome their fear of the security forces and take to the streets to welcome the Arab Spring...The next day, a young man regains consciousness in hospital. He has no memory of what happened, but his instincts tell him that survival depends on keeping his head down and asking no questions. He will leave the revolution to others braver than himself.Yet a few weeks later a trainee policeman finds himself taking down details of an assault. The victim shows it to him on YouTube. It does not take a detective to work out that the beating was arranged by the secret police. Only a fool would take them on.Fighting Shadows is a human rights thriller - the story of one ordinary man’s fight for justice against a powerful, untouchable enemy of the shadows.

Realistic glimpse into Morocco and the realities of life there. The book raises quite a few issues to think about, and is also a page-turner.
