It’s a triple threat! Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn have crashed a charity fundraiser and made off with all the cash. Which villain should Batman chase first? Should he search the Fairgrounds or the Gotham Seaport? Does the Caped Crusader jump onto a speeding train, or get grabbed by a monstrous vine? In this interactive story, YOU CHOOSE the path Batman should take. With your help, he’ll solve the puzzle of The Terrible Trio!
I love choose your own adventure type stories. This one was fun, though it could have stood a little content editing. For example, there's a moment where the trail Batman is following splits in an impossible way that he actually notices is impossible, but there's never an explanation given for how it split, no matter what path you choose. There was also a section where they nerfed Poison Ivy's powers so some toxic gas would work on her and the story acknowledged that normally she would be unaffected, but for "some reason" this worked on her now. Two paragraphs later, they completely changed the way one of her well-established powers worked just for the sake of the narrative they wanted to tell.
I know this is a kids' book, but these issues are easy to avoid with a little more thought put into the writing. Just because it's written for children doesn't mean that well-established character traits don't matter. Likewise, you can't just hand-wave things that don't make sense and hope the readers won't care.
That said, the book did amuse me during my lunch break and the art was fun.
So, I liked this book because it was weird and because the clown faced monster was being really weird because he was a monster. Batman jumped on a train to get all of the bad people! It was really weird when he was trying to catch them. There are 12 possible endings to this book.
