I Married a Billionaire

I Married a Master

Rate this book
A standalone romance focusing on a new couple—and guest starring all the I Married a Billionaire characters you know and love!

Marrying a kinky billionaire wasn't exactly in my 10-year plan.

Benjamin Chase is not my type. He's abrasive. He's arrogant. He doesn't take anything seriously. I'd die before I dated him, but he has something different in mind.

He has to get married in the next nine months, or he loses his company to his ex-wife. And apparently I'm the most eligible bachelorette in town. If I accept I'll have a fortune and the opportunity to prove my acting skills with the role of a lifetime. But I also have to accept Ben's quirks—including the fact that he prefers his women bowing and scraping in a ridiculous parody of gender roles I thought we left behind, oh, several decades ago. I have absolutely no intention of submitting in private, but I'll have to be by his side at all the right clubs and parties—pretending to be his property. He says it's all a game, but my head says to run away.

My heart, on the other hand...not to mention certain other parts of me...secretly craves his discipline. I have to keep reminding myself that it's not really on offer. This is all just an act.

Isn't it?

OMG! I am loving this book. Who knew when two people fight over a silly ice cream on the supermarket counter, they ends up like Ben and Jenna. Ben! God i even in love with the name. Its so sinfull sexy.

Never have I ever in love with a couple like Ben and Jenna. And this author hits every not perfectly. The story, the plot, the bdsm part, the characters chemistry/ development, all perfect. See the writing style so much reminds me of Kylie Scott and Mariana Zapata. Focusing on the character development and adding a layer of plot. The layer of plot done perfectly. Not OTT nor under development.

I even barely miss that the sex scenes are not explosive heat. But how the characters connect and develop feeling is enough to make it so sexy and hot. I especially love Ben. He has such this vulnerable character that i want to hug him. I love a hero who not shame with his vulnerability. Makes him a human. Not super hero alpha male.

The first half of this book was a little slow for me. I didn't know if I would finish it or not. Then all of a sudden I couldn't stop reading. The author drew me into these characters so intensely that I was on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to read more from her.

The sex scenes are steamy. The hero an heroine are both frustratingly adorable. And the story ends perfectly.

3.5 STARS

Let me start off saying that on the whole, I really enjoyed this book. I felt it was better than the sum of its parts, because there were a lot of minor issues that bothered me when reading it. But when I was finished, I still sat back and thought “I really liked that!” The book started off slow for me, but once I got into it, it was definitely worth reading. Any book that can have the heroine question whether the Magnum XL condoms were really necessary has my amused attention!
For a billionaire, Ben is lacking in common sense and social graces. He signed a ridiculous divorce settlement with his ex-wife which required him to get married in two years or lose majority ownership in his company. Reaching the deadline, Ben runs into aspiring actress Jenna multiple times around town and decides that she would be perfect for the role of his wife. And although her first impression (and mine) of Ben is that of a spoiled rich kid, she finds herself being drawn to him and considering his offer.
I did have some issues with the boundaries Ben and Jenna set on their relationship. I understand that this was supposed to be a marriage of convenience for both of them. But when the feelings started, I was so frustrated that they just couldn’t admit them and instead insisted on falling back on the fact that “this isn’t real” and having to dance around one another. Ben was supposed to be a Master, wasn’t he? Suck it up, buddy! And for someone that had a dream at being an actress, Jenna seemed to be able to suffer from a lot of stage fright and unable to put on a good act.
My other issue was with the expectations that the title set. The book was more about domestic discipline than an actual master/sub relationship. The DD was handled well and I liked how it was presented by Ben when Jenna feared that it set women’s rights back about half a century. It was delicately handled, sexy and I liked these two people together.
There were some plot twists and turns in the story that added to the overall bond between this couple, and I felt that their interactions, when they weren’t feeling awkward around one another, were humorous and enjoyable. I would love to see these characters again in a future book by Ms. Marchande to see how they are doing, because I would definitely give her stories another look.

There was something in the air – a hint, a promise of sin, but not quite enough to be unbalancing.

If you know me, you know I love most all erotica books….I love the TPE and Master/slave books and anytime I can find a new author to me in that genre, I scoop it up. I was really excited to read I Married a Master by Melanie Marchande. I loved the cover and the blurb and was intrigued to see where this book was going to take me and let me tell you what I thought and what I got were two completely different things.

I Married a Master was a book, that until I got through with it, I didn’t realize how much I really liked it. It was a book that moved at a slow pace but yet kept me captivated and I read it in a day. It was not your typical instalove type book and the pace in which Ben and Jenna’s relationship developed just felt so real and honest…yes honest, even though the whole relationship was based on a lie.

If you are picking up this book looking for a bunch of kink, you are going to be a bit disappointed. I Married a Master is a story of a Dominant man and a girl who rejects the idea of submission based on its place in society. Jenna’s mind tells her one thing, but her body tells her another. As Ben realizes she might be interested in some sort of D/s relationship, he never once pressures her, but walks her through the steps and guides her in a very sexual yet beautiful way. Watching her grapple with the should I’s of becoming his submissive was very realistic and most anyone who reads this who has ever thought about the role of a submissive in a relationship will relate to. I don’t think she could have written this revelation for Jenna any better.

One of my favorite things about this story was the sassy and dry whit personality of Jenna. She did not back down from Ben and his uppity and Dominant attitude. I laughed out loud at some of the everyday quips and references Jenna used, and her spunk was what Ben loved most about her. Ben for his part, was a man you could certainly love. His vulnerability was so charming and a total turn on for me. He was a stand-up guy who had his share of heartache and I loved getting to know what made this man tick.

I Married a Master was a really good read for me. Although it was not what I was expecting I was very pleased with the outcome. The ending was not what I was imagining and it kind of sucker punched me in the stomach and left me a bit misty eyed. Although this book was a standalone it is in a series. Are we going to get more of Ben and Jenna I do not know, but I will say if I saw another book with them in it, I would most definitely pick it up!

A little off the path.

When I first started reading this book, I expected a lot more awkward encounters with friends and family. I expected some laugh out loud moments and some eye rolling BDSM I'd skim through.

What I read, was an entire book about Domestic BDSM. Of course the book had its moments of witty humor but it was more erotic and weird. It also left a lot to be desired in terms of actual plot.

The couple never actually pretends to be a couple. They story moved incredibly quick and I feel like we missed a lot of actual plot because of all the sex. We never really understand why Daria left, what happens to Jenna's career, what happens with Bens company or how the two convinced everyone they were a couple.

All of that is glossed over and forgotten about. The story starts at 0 and I feel like before you blink she's bent over a kitchen counter being spanked and called Sunshine. Which, let me tell you, the pet name sunshine didn't really tickle my goose. Where did it come from, how did she earn it and um his tone? What exactly was his tone?

Obviously, there were a few parts that could have used more editing and proofreading, but life is all about revisions.

Book was decent if your looking for hot and heavy wouldn't recommend it if you enjoy actual plot and story devlopement.

It took me a while to get into this book, I Married A Master – I was a bit confused at the beginning of the story – but once I did get into it? It was fantastic! I’m usually pretty good at figuring out “hooks” but I can guarantee you that you will be surprised at what happens in this story. I know I was. That’s all you get; no spoilers from me!

Jenna and Ben were a believable couple, IMO. They could have communicated [period!] better however there wouldn’t be much of a story if they did. It was fun to read how Melanie Marchande worked an explanation for “lifestyles” into the book. It gave me a whole new way to look at different proclivities; she wrote it with much compassion and knowledge.

I purchased this book to read as I had read the previous, I Married A Billionaire, and was not disappointed in I Married A Master. And the couple from IMAB even made an appearance – I’m a happy girl. I recommend this book. If you have trouble getting thru the beginning, know that it is all relevant to the story and you won’t be disappointed.

3.5 anchovies on my pizza stars

A familiar tale about a billionaire who meets an ordinary girl. Spiced up a bit with a splash of kink, a superficial marriage, and a sweet twist.

Easy, sexy read that took a little while to rev up.

Oh god this book was so friggin boring zzzzzz. The story line was just laughable and not in a good way! It's a shame because in some ways it was a nice idea but the characters and plot were immature and underdeveloped.

I received a copy of this eBook from Melanie Marchande in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! I love this well written book. Truly wonderful. It's the first book, by Melanie Marchande, that I've read and I was hooked from the beginning. Couldn’t put it down. Jenna and Ben make a great couple. They have wonderful chemistry together. I love that she didn't throw herself at him right away or fall at his feet because he was rich. He had to work hard to get her to consider his marriage proposition. She wasn't a push-over. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Billionaire Romances. You will not be disappointed. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Well what can I say, but I loved this book, at the beginning it was a little slow but after a few pages, I really started understanding Ben and liking his abrasive attitude....he is a quirky kind of guy, but he is hot at the same time, and yes he finds e perfect person in Jenna, Ben comes off as naive which does not jive with him being the head of company but when you read, yes he was naive but he was only 19 and in love, so after I found out that and how he come to be in the situation he was in with his ex-wife then I could understand we all do stupid stuff in the name of love. Now Jenna really has no clue what the BDSM life is all about and Ben is into the scene and how sweet he is outside the kink shows what a awesome Dom he makes. I loved how Ben was able to show her what the life was all about and not try to force her to comply with his kinks. I also enjoyed seing how Maddy and Daniel and there life was going. But what I really loved about this book was the ending, and I all I can do is clap, well done Melanie.

I've read this author before and I have to say it was awesome. The story is very descriptive and flows really well. I loved that characters from the previous books were involved. Ben is a billionaire with a problem, he needs to be happily married in 4 months so he doesn't loose his controlling part of his company to his x wife. Jenna is an aspiring actress but doesn't seem to be able to move forward. When she bumps into Ben it's not 'wow he's hot but what an arsehole' but when they continue to run into the other Ben realises Jenna could be what he needs. They share a connection which goes much further than just lust but will either one voice how they really feel or will they let the way they feel slip away. I enjoyed the story, the characters, the sex is amazing and Ben can be sweet, Jenna thinks a bit too much but it gave her more character. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys erotic romances, and this author never fails. Some typing errors did not take away from my overall rating.

I really like this book, once I got a few chapters in. I did find the beginning a bit slow, stick with it, I'm glad I did. It's very well written and the characters are very likable, the story isn't too over the top unbelievable, Jenna is a small town girl loose in the big city. Okay, when you first meet Ben you want to kick him a few times for being a jerk. But, something haunts both Jenna and Ben. The end took me completely by surprise. That doesn't happen very often and made me smile like the Cheshire Cat. The sex scenes are very well written and thought out, I had a bit of steam coming off my forehead a few times.

Favorite Line, (I still chuckle) - "Vodka Martini, she said, when she reached the bar. "Dirty. So Dirty that I should be arrested for drinking it in public."

I look forward to reading more by Ms. Marchande

Oh the sexual tension between Jenna and Ben, "I gritted my teeth into a smile. "What? I'm just being realistic. Statistically, do you know how many men actually need extra-large condoms?" Ben he's not one for showing his feelings, "Jenna," he said, "if you didn't matter, I wouldn't be talking to you right now. Disbelieve me about anything else you want, call me a liar, call me insincere, but don't doubt that you matter to me." I love the chemistry these two had, "are you effing kidding me, woman? The state you were in? I'm surprised I didn't do any serious damage to myself after you left. I might have a repetitive motion injury from all the times you left me high and dry." I loved this book, I enjoyed the characters.

I am horribly delayed in reviewing this one, since I thought I reviewed it when I read it last month...but umm... apparently not.

This was my first Melanie Marchande read and I was quite impressed. Ben and Jenna are quite the pair, and after reading this one, I'm intrigued to pick up the rest of Melanie Marchande's books, especially I Married a Billionaire so I can hear Maddy's story.

I pretty much read straight through this one - it was definitely an intriguing read. The beginning was a bit slower and took a bit for me to get into it, but once I did, I didn't want to put this one down. I also enjoyed how Melanie Marchande worked explanations of the kind of BDSM and kinks Ben was into given that Jenna was a newbie - it brought an interesting perspective to the story.

Jenna & Ben... Wow! I completely enjoyed this story. In the very beginning, I was Oh no, not another kinky billionaire story. Ben is part of the elite rich, but that's where all the similarities end. I loved the building emotions and sexual tensions between Jenna and Ben, it might be just as hot as the sizzling sex.

A great change to read a couple move a little slower into a D/D relationship, even with a very unconventional start.

Heat, fun, believable characters and even some humor with an ending I didn't see until it happened! Don't worry, it's not a cliffhanger.

Melanie Marchande gave me this book to read and write a review. I liked it a lot. Jenna is a struggling actor. She bumps into Ben at the grocery store. He is a total ass to Jenna.

Jenna goes out with her friends and bumps into him again. Ben starts showing up a lot. I love how Jenna doesn't take his crap and she gives it right back to him.

Ben offers to pay 2 million dollars to Jenna to marry him. That is when all the fun starts to happen. I couldn't put it down I had to find out what happen next.

Loved this! Ben at first comes off as a spoiled rich guy in my opinion but I realized that his past as everything to do with that. Jenna finally helps him through his problems and realizes certain things about herself as well.

Over all? Good bones but not enough connecting the story bit by bit. To be honest, I listenened on audio and did not read the previous books in series. This a stand alone and had an ending I did not see coming. That's a good thing by the way.

********SPOILERS AHEAD********

But it was lacking in character development. Why was the ex wife even in the story? It's like it was a great idea but the author abandoned the use of her in the plot. And what was all the post anesthesia babble about? The heroine was confused and so was I.

Also, don't do stupid stuff.... 20 something billionaires who quit college or grown women who constantly say what ever is on their mind...but are also intimidated. Why was a billionaire shopping for his own food and work goodies instead of his housekeeper or work PA? This guy seemed to spend a lot of time at the grocery store.

And if you are going to introduce a possible fatal medical condition...then use it. This situation got resolved too fast for a guy who didn't want to talk about it. The pre-wedding stuff was confusing and not sure Why but the laundry thing bothered me.

I kept wishing the author SHOWED us more than telling us by using ALOT of inner dialog. it was very confusing at times figuring out who was talking verses thinking.

What did I like? Dispute her annoyance at times, I liked Jenna, especially as the book progressed. . And I liked the slow progression of the story even though it all happened in a couple months. That was well done. Nothing was jammed down our throat. I liked how Jenna's coming to the BDSM light evolved over time. Many books show a heroine who suddenly is introduced and wham, they're on board. It was gradual. Ben likes to be in control? All the time? Really?. Hmmmm.

I loved the ending and how it was tied to her bias against wealthy people. The sweet way J&B or BW And SK were connected was so beautiful and Ben's idea hot a honeymoon was so romantic, but boy he took a big chance. And, sadly the best character in this book was Jenna's friend Matty. I wish that the story was more connected. I enjoyed it but maybe it could have been a 3.5 to 4.5 with a few of the things I criticized in this review.
