Leuk tweede deel waarin het verhaal doorgaat waar het eerste deel opgehouden is. Gewoon een leuk boek voor jonge tieners.

This is another one from my youth that I decided to reread as an adult.
I remembered most of the main plot points, and almost none of the details. So it was pretty interesting every time I stumbled upon a small scene that I had 0 recollection of.
Don't get me wrong, I think I mentioned in my review for the first book that I must've gotten ahold of a copy that got updated to modern times, given, for instance, the reference to iPads when I'm fairly certain I read the book originally a few years before the iPad was ever a thing.
Anyway, I remember being somewhat intrigued by this as a...middle schooler? Maybe early high schooler? And just generally enjoying it.
I enjoyed it less upon rereading. Mainly because it was written aimed at the age I was when I first read it. Rereading it now, a lot of it seems fairly contrived. Though I suppose part of that is due to the fact that time travel was a factor in this book. But in general, there was a lot of distrust between characters (again, part of it a plot point but a lot of it was more annoying than helpful to the story). And, this being a largely character-driven story, when the characters feel off and the interactions between the characters aren't all that fun to read about, the story as a whole suffers.
As a kid it was easier to overlook a lot of this, both because as the target demographic I was firmly aligned with the protag's viewpoint. It was a fun power fantasy to get lost in. And I had less ability to be critical of the writing itself. Honestly I could still use some of what powers the magic in the book. That is, the belief in one's ability to affect the world around themselves, and the casting off of fear, which weakens us. But the writing still put me off.
Having said that I'm still gonna read the third book since I only recently found out there even was a third book.
Also I super did not remember the antagonist having quite the effect they did on the protag. Like, in general I did, but not the specifics of it. I dunno how that slipped my memory.

Ahhh, I so wanted to like this book because it was a series I enjoyed when I was a teenager. Now that more than 10 years have passed and my taste has changed, I decided to re-read it. Sadly, it has not lived up to the test of time, not at least not to me.
While I still enjoyed the first book of the series, this book began to grate on me towards the second half. Withholding information as a plot device is something I really start to dislike and this book is full of it. A lot of the conflicts could have been resolved if the characters just stop and listen/talk to each other.
Anyway, I'm debating if I should read the next book, especially as there's no sign of a book 4 where everything can be resolved.

Easy read
The writer does a fantastic job of keeping just enough mystery so that you keep reading. Because this was written for a younger audience, the writing is straight to the point. I loves that I often forgot I was reading and felt like I was watching a movie. They give you just enough and than like the movie Halloween, you find yourself adding to the horror, it's worth the read for that alone. I wish more books were this easy of a read. Does it have flaws of course but I enjoyed the book.

Wow did this one take me a while. A little disappointed with myself for how long it took to finish, but wow such a good read. Honestly reading more about Devon and the gang is amazing. I’m so excited, but so many questions still unanswered. Like who are Devon’s parents?? What does the pentagram means on Marcus’ forehead?? Also Morgana being a succubus!? And what powers does Roxanne hold!? I can’t wait to read the third book!!

The plot, characters, and the entire concept of the nightwings are fairly interesting and enjoyable, but the book could use some basic proof-reading. There were several sentences with nonsensical shifts in verb tense that distracted me from the story and at least once instance where Devon took a "cold shoulder" instead of a "cold shower."

Opowieści z Kruczego Dworu to moja miłość z czasów nastoletnich. Wciąż bawi, wciąż ciekawi, po tylu latach nawet zaskakuje. Wiele przedstawionych wątków się zamyka, ale wciąż są pytania, na które odpowiedzi będziemy szukać w innych tomach. I super! Pierwszy raz przeczytane w oryginale.

4 stars. I really likedthe story, it keptme interested the whole book and as a part of the series, I really like the series too. It was easy to keep up with the plot and also easy to imagine the events happening. The fantasy elements were great and the horror elements included witches and demons. This was slightly scary book but nothing I can't handle. Writing was average.

It's a good story, but book 1 is better. The Dutch translation of book 2 has quite a lot of errors in it and is written in a more childlike manner than book 1.

Second time reading this book and their are times were its really good and times where it needs a little more.
If you read the first book then you will be familiar with the characters and the setting which in my head I imagine it's a great house in a great location. Just don't let the demons and hell mouth bother you.
I like how the story was let up the big discovery but was it really that hard to figure out? The new woman that comes in is Morgana, a name also well known for another witch. I think she should have had a different name it's like calling a character Juda then turns out he will betray everyone, to obvious.
The killing of the witch was kinda boring, to quick and easy when they make such a big deal about how powerful she is. And it confused me into her title, is she a a witch? Succubus? Apostle? Everything? Might of been better if it was simple in that sense.
What I enjoyed was that even in the end their is more secreta that still haven't been revealed so looking forward to next book.

Quite a bit less strong than the first installment, in my opinion. It's a succubus story -- picture a fantasy book that mostly consists of watching men get Veela'd. Not my fav, but I did enjoy the Stairway Into Time, the unveiling of Roxanne as a character, and the idea of Bjorn Forkbeard the Gnome (although he calls for more fleshing out). And it does leave you hungry to learn what the pentagram over Marcus's face means, and who Devon's parents are. Oh but one last thing is there are a few early 2000s shitty language things, very unfortunate, including when Bjorn is introduced and use of the phrase "gypped."

I enjoyed the novel. It caught at my attention and left me wanting more. My only issue with the ENTIRE series is that the final book (which could clear up so many questions left in this book) is only published in french and polish. Why not publish in english and let the people who love the series find out how it ends? At least publish some kind of summary online that answers all the questions asked in the second book.

Loved this, but it wasn't as good as the first one. Devon annoyed me immensely during this book, so much so that I was shouting at him a lot while reading it. I know he's only a fifteen year old boy but lord, he could get on my nerves. Still, I loved the historical elements with the Tudor period woven in with the story, and that some of my questions were answered. Now I just have to read the next book to answer all the other questions that are burning inside of me.

Good follow up for book one. Little slow sometimes with the information. But the stinking demons and other scary stuff are back!
It ends with a cliffhanger..
Lucky me i'm dutch an part 3 is here allready in store. Normally I read the book in the mother language but I couldn't wait. Book 3 left me with an even bigger cliffhanger. Can't wait for part 4!

This is the 2nd book to the ravenscliff series. Great book takes you deeper in to this world of nightmaries. Only problem the auther left the book on a cliff hanger. Im still waiting for book 3 to emerge. Still a great read.

The creepy facotr is still here, but this book just doesn't satisfy like the first. I would say it is too predictable with the uncle's new fiance being obviously the title character. Oops, sorry, spoiler alert! Like you wont be able to see it coming eight miles off.
