Okay, I need to say that for me, it is Storm and Forge. I am sorry. They were a couple when I started reading X-Men, so that's must likely why. I like the relationship between Storm and Black Panther as shown by Coates. I also understand the importance of having Black Panther and Storm as a couple as well as Black Panther interacting with other super heroes of color.

That said, the issues leading up to this one (and including this one) feel wrong. In part, it is because of the use of the X-Men, and that isn't entirely Hudlin's fault. I'm sorry, but Havoc as a leader over Storm? And the whole Wolverine/Storm vibe is just, well, ick. (And yes, I know they become a couple, but ick).

The use of Luke Cage, Blade, and other poc superheroes is on one hand nice, but it also feels a tad forced. Additionally, the quest for a bride (a la Coming to America) just feels as a reason to show off how good a man T'Challa is, even his exes love him.

The whole romance with Storm feels forced. There isn't enough back story in the series itself (yes, I know there is a mini-series that explains all this). And the whole, Storm is royalty retcon is just so something. It's like a reason to make the marriage.

I've always loved T'Challa and Storm's relationship. But this issue gave us a closer look at how/when they first met and THEN SOME. Now that I know WHY T'Challa left her the first time, it actually makes a lot more sense why she finally forgave him. I'm glad she decided to return to Africa and stay awhile because it led to one of the most iconic moments for BP fans. Luke Cage was great in this as usual and the ties to Malcolm X were a great nod.

In this issue of Black Panther "The Bride of the Black Panther" part 1, T'Challa gets back to the business of finding a bride. Who shall it be ...
The art work is done in 2 styles, in the panels of the present time the art work is what I thought was below par. In the panels of the past memories the art is reminiscent of work from the golden era of comics and the pages are yellowed. I thought it added a nice touch to the story line. The final panel is exceptionally done.

Poor Logan.

Good color artwork. One of three hundred comics marvel gave out on national read a book day, Sept six. This would be easier to review if it was 32 pages. T'challa drops off Luke. T'challa has decided that storm is the one. A backstory of how storm and the panther first met.

Even though this gives more context for the Ororo and T'Challa relationship, I still feel like I don't quite get what makes them great for each other. I've heard other people put their relationship on the pedestal, and I'm not sure I quite get it.
