Hudson's fourth installment of the Pike Chronicles is at least as good as the last three. I keep reading one after another, enjoying the plot twists and constant action. (IMHO, these are the hallmarks of good space opera.)
Captain Jon Pike gets caught up in defending the freedom of his crew, the freedom of the lost colonies, the freedom of human slaves everywhere...and constant battles necessarily follow. New tactics, new allies, old friends, old enemies and at least three rival empires fight for the future. Aspirations of freedom contest struggles for dominance as many races contest towards different goals. Alliances change, shift and mutate in this galactic clash of ideals, tactics and weaponry.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND AS A SERIES!!
G.P. Hudson has written a ‘stellar’ series with the Pike Chronicles, one of galactic proportions that any Sci-Fi lover will not want to miss - Period! I strongly recommend this series to all ages and genders. If there is one thing I am sure of it’s that you will not want to miss out on reading about Pikes adventures!
So far I have read the first four books in the series. One after the other so I've been enjoying them. Overall, a few interesting, new concepts. Like the major character-hero yet not a perfect 'superman'. Interested to see how everything pans out so I will continue to read the series.
This is an engrossing series - one of the best I've read in some time. The characters are very real and interesting and I really care about what happens to them.
That's the pace of this book. Non stop, unrelenting action. Capt Pike has some new friends, and another battle to be fought. This book primarily deals with the action in space, and no running gun battles. There are plenty of plot twists, a few you see coming and a few you don't. I don't write spoilers, so if that's the synopsis you want then read someone else's review.
There are sporadic grammar errors, but they almost look like autocorrect errors, which we all see when we text someone, and in no way do they throw you off or stop the enjoyment of reading this book. Hell, I read it in just a few days once I saw it was out. Once you start, you won't want to put it down.
Read the 1st 3 of this series if you haven't. They are all great sci-fi novels. After reading this one I can't wait for the 5th one cause that's gonna get mighty interesting. Bravo Mr. Hudson, keep em coming!
Uninspired SciFi Writing United With Inept Editing
Book 4 "Ghost Fleet," of the "Pike Chronicles," continues the mediocre SciFi storyline of a human space marine, mated with an alien symbiont, fighting to free both future Earth and her lost colonies, from multiple alien and human enslavement. It's mainly uninspired and hackneyed ScjFi writing at its worse. The eBook author shows his lack of basic writing skills, talent, imagination and professional pride. Additionally, the editing/proofreading are contemptible, continuing the series "tradition."
In the hands of a mature writer, even one with the most elementary writing skill set, the storyline might have potential merit. However, after reading all four (4) books of the series, it is clear that the author is an immature, rank amateur, devoid of talent. This book is not recommended for any reader with working grey cells.
This book is why I like science fiction!!! The characters are real. The situations are full of adrenaline. The reaction of characters to paradoxes is simply amazing. Can't wait for the next evolution of the story line!
I sincerely hope that humanity will In populate other worlds. My only regret is that I will not live to see it. Good book and I look forward to the next one.
