Shane hates his life and wants more, so even though he's skeptical, Shane summons The Crossroads Demon in hopes of striking a bargain. When the man in black appears before him, Shane is not only surprised that the story of the crossroads demon is true, but that the demon is the most gorgeous man he has ever met. A deal is made between Shane and the demon named Dantalion. His dreams of being a rock god have come true and he begins to learn what it really means to be famous. Who he can trust and who his true friends are. Dantalion cannot understand the attraction he feels for the human who summoned him, but he can't deny it. Oversteping his boundaries as a crossroads demon, he gives Shane what he wants with hopes to make him happy. But when the powers that be find out about his unwarranted deal with Shane, they take the contract from Dantalion and forbid him to ever make contact with Shane again. Can these two star-crossed lovers find a way to be together or will they be ripped apart by Heaven and Hell?

This was a significantly unique take on a Demon romance. Shane is tired of his difficult life, so he makes a wish with a crossroads Demon, Dantalion. When Shane gets his wish to be a famous singer (and he can truly sing) he stays humble and unselfish through it all, which of course, causes Dantalion to fall for him. The demons were promised by their father that if they find true love (and truly love), then they can return to heaven. The concept was different and I really liked it. The author did great at conveying the emotions of the characters. Some of it had saddened me and the end had me smiling. Dantalion was very charismatic and caring. Ultimately, this was an engrossing and heartfelt romance. =)

I am a fan of Maggie Walsh, a fan of paranormal, and I love the heaven & hell and angel & demon trope, so this one was right up my alley. Shane is a good guy, born into a difficult life, but a good, decent guy nonetheless. He is what I consider typical of the modern lower to middle class who works hard but is one paycheck or one major car maintenance issue away from being broke. Without anyone to fall back on, Shane trudges along dreaming about the “what ifs” and “what could be” if only a little bit of luck would fall his way.

Like many true talents, Shane is held back only by his lot in life. The most successful artists are not the most talented, but those who had the financial wherewithal to get out there and be seen and heard. But, Shane is stuck…until he learns of the Crossroads demon. Knowing he has nothing to lose, he goes for it. Dantalion and Shane are caught in a catch twenty two…two destined mates…on two different planes of existence, and no way to make it work. How cruel is that?

This is a story that takes many twists and turns, and the fact that both Dan and Shane are such great guys just makes their situation more heartbreaking. But, anyone who reads Maggie Walsh knows that no matter what the universe, or God as may be the case, throws at them, they do in fact get their happily ever after.

Of course I recommend this book, and I look forward to the sequel.

Overall Impression: I really liked it

Great read

Can't wait for the next in the series. I like that there is a lot of room to grow with this as a series.
