Blades meet and blood spills in the most exciting volume of Vampire Game yet! The La Naan Martial Arts Tournament is underway, and with the throne of Pheliosta at stake, competition is fierce. Among the finalists are the three princes of La Naan, Darres, and...Princess Ishtar? Well, with a shapeshifting vampire as her companion, all may not be as it seems...a notion that might also apply to Lady Ramia's three sons. With their captain busy fighting in the tournament, is it up to Jill and Krai to investigate Yujinn's claim that one of the princes may be illegitimate. So why are they spending all their time in the red lantern district? And what is Duzell handing out with a bunch of kittens?
Intrigue and undead manipulation reach the next level in the third volume of Vampire Game. Duzzell finds his quest to find Phelios’s reincarnation hitting an unexpected snag when the secrets of the princes of La Naan come to light. Two of said princes show surprising strength and decency in the face of potential exposure, which the third slips into darkness and a vampire’s arms. Darres and Yujinn seek to expose those truths, but Ishtar’s champion finds himself face to face with a host of vampires and their undead master, determined to drain every drop of his blood, before he can do anything.
This mastermind isn’t Duzzell and he has plans of his own for the House of Phelios.
The excitement and action gets even more intense, while the character development deepens, just the way I like it.
Princes Vord and Laphiji mature into even more complex and likeable individuals in this volume, particularly Vord, who was introduced as the main adversary when this arc began. He’s reminding me just a little of Spike, who experienced a dramatic turn around in loyalties when his interests changed.
Darres truly gets to strut his stuff in a heroic way, battling against impossible undead odds. Duzzell’s relationship with Ishtar deepens, although he’s not without interest in the lovely Prince Seliez, for all he’s fallen to another vampire’s fangs. Even Lady Ramia shows an uexpected level of character development.
Building on the previous storyline and taking it further, Vampire Game continues to be an excellent and engrossing read.
I'm LOVING this series! Can't believe I hadn't heard of it before, and I'm so glad that I picked it up by chance. I won't go to far into it (since I've been attempting to stop turning my reviews into summaries of what happened) but those plot twists. Usually when there's a plot twist, that one sudden perception change takes place and the author moves on to the next plot twist. But this volume was able to stretch that plot twist in enough ways to use dramatic irony to have different characters discover the truth at different moments. No other story would have been able to pull this off, but the way it was laid out was perfect. Same as before in other reviews: love the characters and so far storyline. The art looks simply beautiful to me now. And of course; can't wait to read the next volume!!
Another fun volume in the La Naan story arc. The three princes pull out all the stops to win the martial arts tournament. Seiliez in particular is wiping the floor with his opponents when last year he couldn't even make the first round. Some outside help maybe? And where is Duzzell when Ishtar most needs him? trapped in a litter of kywals outside the palace! Court intrigues abound as it seems that not all the princes are of royal blood. Darres and loyal Krai and Jill are investigating with a little help from the beautiful Yujinn.
Volume 3 is still engaging with cute artwork, really enjoying this series.
The series as a whole was good in the beginning. Very funny and intriguing. I love romances where the characters have loved each other forever but have never told each other or something like that. lol The series declines in quality, I think towards the end. There are too many characters in too many places and things get a little confusing.
This one brought up humaor and even a little suspense. I don't want to say too much, because I don't wish to spoil it. But one thing I can say, I definitely can't wait to get more of the books.
