Prof. Dr. Fatma Erkman-Akerson was born in Istanbul, graduated from Istanbul German High School, completed her undergraduate and doctoral studies at Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of German Language and Literature. She worked as a faculty member at Istanbul, Mimar Sinan and Marmara Universities.
She worked at Yeditepe University, Department of Turkish Language and Literature between 1999 and 2012.
