Cute! This was a fun story, likable characters. I love books that take place in my home state of Utah. It’s almost like a visit home when I get to read a story that takes place there. This one happens to take place in Midway, a very beautiful part of the state. Made for a great setting, especially picturing all the snow and holiday cheer.
Mikayla has a stalker, for the past four years someone has been sending threatening notes and photos, but the recently the contact has gotten more violent. When the head of her security retires, she hires Matt Degan to head up her security and play her faux boyfriend. Matt and his cute son move into her mansion and pretty quickly the line between work and romance blurs. There’s an instant attraction for both of them and the more time they spend together the more they come to care for each other.
While I did enjoy this one, I thought the stalker stuff could have been amped up a little more. The suspense was kind of lacking, always seemed to be more in the background and the bad guy reveal felt a little off. And the storyline with the sister could have been developed a little more.
Overall though, I thought it was a fun read and kept me turning the pages. I liked the characters, the kids were cute, and the setting was fun. The Christmas elements were a little low-key, so this story could really be read any time during the year.
Content: Clean romance, just kisses. No language and very mild violence.
Why are so many Christmas books so heartwarming? My heart always feels like it will just melt. I love it and I loved this one! Matt is a former Army security guy and is looking for a job to help get him and his son back on their feet after a divorce. Becoming a bodyguard for Mik, a wealthy heiress isn't exactly what he had in mind, but the job seems to be exactly what he and his son need. Mik has been stalked for four years now and no one has had any luck finding the guy.
I love the way Cami Checketts always adds a great suspense angle in with her swoony romances. The characters are always great and strong, the setting is vivid in my imagination, and the elements are executed well. I honestly couldn't help but to fall in love with each of the characters, from Grams, to the boys, to Mik, and to Matt. I love how down-to-earth the relationship is, even though it's fast-paced, and how realistic the situations are. The twists are so much fun!
This is another great book by an author I've come to love and adore!
Content: mild romance (kissing); mild suspense (moments of peril, but nothing over-the-top); no language. Clean!

I was so excited to see this new Christmas book by Cami Checketts. She is one of my favorites and anytime I can get my hands on something by her feels like Christmas to me.
This book was so cute. I fell in love with all the characters. It was the perfect feel good book. There is tingling attraction, some yummy kisses, and some mild suspense. It was the perfect quick read for me this week as I vowed to only read what I REALLY wanted to read with no official reviews. :) I loved it!
Oh, Come On, Be Faithful is my first book by Cami Checketts, but won't be my last. Ms. Checketts has delivered a well-written book. This smooth read hosts a phenomenal cast of characters that are not only entertaining but downright lovable. Matt is hired as a bodyguard to protect Mikayla from a stalker. Their story is loaded with drama, humor, action, suspense and spice. Kudos to Ms. Checketts for the humor and amazing characters. I loved Oh, Come On, Be Faithful from cover to cover and look forward to reading more from Cami Checketts in the future. Oh, Come On, Be Faithful is book 3 of the Countdown to Christmas Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This story of Matt and Mik is a sweet yet swoonworthy romance with some mystery and intrigue as well. I loved Matt! He was this huge bodyguard type guy with such a sweet heart and a need to protect Mik who he was quickly falling in love with. Mik was strong yet still had a need for support and a strong person to lean on. Matt's son Brock was a great addition to the story, as well as Mik's sister, Sarah and her nephew Kyler. This story made me laugh, smile and had all of the good feels I look for in a book! I received a copy for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Mykala has a stalker who has terrorized her for four years. She hires Matt to be her bodyguard to protect her and find the stalker. I loved this book and the way it kept everything clean. Rated G
First of all, what a great title! I read that the author based Brock's dialog on things her own 8 year old said and I moved the book up to the top of my tbr pile so I could see what he said. It has been a long time since I had an 8 year old in the house. I might have thought this kid was written too mature except that she took the words from her own son's mouth. Brock was a great kid. I'd love to be around someone as positive and caring as he is. He and Kyler together were great.
The romance was sweet. It starts as a fake relationship so Matt can be Mik's bodyguard and track down her stalker. The fake does not last very long and they jump quickly to love but it is a novella so there isn't time to let it develop slowly.
There is also the element of mystery/intrigue in trying to figure out who the stalker is and catch him. I thought I knew from the start who the stalker was but I fell for a red herring. The whole stalker thing was kind of scary to me. Not because it was written to be scary but the idea of having someone do this is horrifying.
I liked both Matt and Mik and wanted them to be together. It was quick but again - novella. It doesn't leave time for a slow burn.
I could understand Sarah's depression and understand her withdrawal because of it. I'm not 100% sure that someone could snap out of it quite as easily as she does but everyone is different so perhaps someone could even if I couldn't. But it was an interesting turn that she decided to engage in life again before her HEA arrives. The Christmas miracle made it so all the main characters could have a happily ever after and who doesn't want that in a Christmas book? Gotta end with everyone getting their Christmas wish.

The other night my little one decided that he wasn't wanting to sleep and that I needed to hold him and rock him instead. This is the very reason that I keep my Kindle Paperwhite in his room. I quickly found this book that needed to be read and settled in to read it. I love that it was a cute, clean, quick easy read. It's filled with romance and action. I didn't really want to put it down, even though it would have been nice to get some sleep.
I really liked Matt. He's a true gentleman. He's been burned before but he's simply looking for a job to support himself and his awesome son, Brock. Brock is probably my favorite character in this whole book. He's always happy and he likes everyone. He's the kind of person that everyone likes to be around.
Matt's new job is providing security for Mikayla and he's also supposed to be her live in boyfriend, making things a little bit more complicated for both of them. She's amazing too. I love the way that even though she has her own life to deal with, she has stepped in to care for her sister Sarah and her son in their time of need. But Mikayla has a stalker who seems to be following her around, which is why she needs Matt. But in 4 years no one has been able to catch her stalker, will Matt have better luck than everyone else.
I loved that the stalker was not someone who was even on my radar. The way that the person was revealed in the end was really well-written and quite possibly my favorite part.
If you're looking for something cute to read, don't hesitate to pick up this book, you won't be sad!
I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The first thing to draw me to the book was the title. It's catchy and really appealed to me.
This is a fun Christmas novella. I realize that I read it in the Spring instead of the Christmas Season, but a good book can be enjoyed at any time of the year.
Matt and Mik are great leading characters. They would be someone that I would want to know in real life. Mik is wealthy, but she treats everyone around her as people of value. You can't help but like her and hope that Matt is able to stop her stalker.
The kids in the story are one of the highlights. Matt's son is the one who is responsible for the catchy title. Seriously, the kid has a high cuteness factor.
Cami Checketts always adds suspense to her stories. I am a fan of her writing. She has a great foundation, characters, and is able to build the suspense.
The book is clean with kissing, threats, and a smidgen of violence.
Matt is a single dad in need of a job, and Mikayla is in need of a new head of security - hopefully someone who can catch the man who has been stalking her for the past 4 years. She needs someone she can trust who can also play the part of pretend boyfriend to stay close enough to her to protect her. Matt is perfect for the job! And it's a bonus that he has a cool 8-year-old son who can befriend her withdrawn 8-year-old nephew she is helping to raise.
Matt is the perfect mix of responsible, fun dad, and kick-butt military man. Mikayla may be wealthy businesswoman, but she is nothing like his socialite mother and ex-wife. She is warm, fun, kind, sincere, and puts other's needs before her own.
Much, much less a romance; much, much more just another Scooby Doo Mystery, so many ‘romance’ writers seem to always feel compelled to give us. This one, was even more Scooby Doo than most. With stalkers, attacks, kidnappings - even the Italian mafia comes up. Then, a stupid, fizzle ending. No punch. Just an ‘Oh. Ok.’ And not in a good, ‘mystery solved’ kinda way. More in a ‘Why did I even bother finishing the thing?’ way. I knew by 30% it was becoming a waste of time. I kept hoping it would get better. Spoiler alert-it doesn’t.
Oh, Come On - Be Faithful (Countdown to Christmas #3) PG Novella size - 126 pages Violence: A slugfest, but not descriptive Language: Not one swear word Sex: No sex, delicious kisses Merry Christmas to me!! Loved this little distraction. I really like Cami Checketts' style. She has flawed heroes, but they aren't flaws to the heroines - there's someone for everyone. And there's always chemistry. Which is so fun!
Sweet little Christmas story! I liked the characters and will admit to getting a little teary over the two boy's relationship. The relationship moved fast, but I felt like it was a natural progression. Also, as a Utah native, it was fun to have all these hot spots brought up in the story! Great story for a snowy afternoon. Also, can we get Greg and Sarah's story next??
I love a good sweet romance, especially with a mystery involved! Sadly, my favorite character was his son, Brock! I love that kid and his positive attitude! I was slightly surprised by the stalker, but only a little. There really weren't many options!
With such a cute title I was expecting a fun book about someone who cheated...a romantic comedy really. It was not. The story was cute but need more development. It could have easily been a full length novel.
Mikayla is in serious trouble. Her head of security Jonathan is retiring. He and his wife Sarah have been with the family so long she thinks of them as family, even calling them Aunt and Uncle. Now she has to interview a man Jonathan has recommended. Someone he has known for years and knows his background. Matt has been in the Army and been in the war in Kabul and been hurt, but he knows security like no one else. Now his first priority is his son Brock, since his ex-wife Elizabeth is no longer in the picture. She had to have a fast divorce so she could marry another man and live on the beach and he didn't want her son! When Matt arrives for the interview Chaz answers the door and says he's the butler, only problem is he's Mikayla's personal assistant. When he finally gets to meet Mikayla, he's stunned, she's beautiful! When she meets Matt she thinks he is very handsome, even with the scarring on his face. As the interview progresses he finds out he will be moving into the house and playing the part of boyfriend. Wait, Jonathan never told him that part! Then he tells her he has an eight year old son and he cannot move in without him. She thinks it's a brilliant idea as her sister Sarah and her son Kyler are living with her since Sarah's husband Greg disappeared in Guatemala four years ago and Kyler doesn't have any friends and she's worried about him. What happens when Matt and his son arrive? What is the scene they come upon? Will he be able to catch the stalker? Or will the stalker be able to follow through on his threats? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Cami Checketts!
I loved this book! What a wonderful Christmas story! Being a bodyguard for a wealthy heiress was not the kind of job Matt was looking for but he needed money after his ex cleaned him out. So, wanting to give his son a good Christmas, he took a job as Mik's bodyguard where he also had to pretend to be her boyfriend. Being stalked for four years, Mik hoped having a boyfriend who was also an intimidating bodyguard would get him to back off. But when Matt learned he had to be a live-in boyfriend, he didn't think it would work. He had a son to think about. He couldn't believe his luck when Mik said his son could live there too. She was actually happy to have his son there because he would be good company for her nephew who also lived with her as did his mother (Mik's sister, Sarah).
I loved the characters. Mik was not what Matt expected. She wasn't an aloof heiress but a kind, down-to-earth woman who thought of others before herself. Matt was almost too good to be true. A skilled protector and great father. The boys had me chuckling, especially when I saw how the title came about. Mik couldn't help falling for both father and son.
Figuring out who the stalker was, wasn't the only mystery in this book. Sarah's husband was missing. What happened to him?
Oh, Come On: Be Faithful is one of the best Christmas stories I have read. I love this author's work and this book is one of her best! If you like romantic suspense with humour and lots of surprises, this is the book for you.
My review today is on the Romantic Suspense, Oh, Come On, Be Faithful. This book was sent to me to read. The review I write is my own thoughts. I really enjoy Cami's books and I'm glad to be on her team. This book releases today. It's well-written, humorous, and full of suspense. I know you are going to love it.
Former Military Matt Degan is hired as head of security when the former head retires. His boss is being stalked and has been for four years. Matt and his son move into the mansion. He is determined to catch the stalker even when some believe that she is sending the notes and pictures to herself. He and his son find a home here.
Mikayla Lambert is not intimidated by Matt's scars. He somehow makes her feel safe. That's what she needs after being stalked for years. She lives with her sister whose husband has disappeared and her nephew. Her sister is a shell of who she once was. She loves his son who has changed her nephew. As her sister starts to improve the stalker escalates.
A journey to bring life back to a terrified family in the midst of chaos. God has a plan for this family. A plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.
This was a cute read that was timely for the season. Mikayla is a rich heiress who finds herself in need of a new bodyguard and her previos trusted security suggests Matt. Matt is an army veteran who has some major scars in his face from his time in the military. He is big and gruff and physically perfect to fill the part of the bodyguard. Mik's need for security is due to a stalker. She also wanted Matt to pose as her boyfriend to lure the stalker out. As they get acquainted, they learn that the other is the "perfect" person for them. They go through some miscommunications and misunderstandings (which is typical is a novel like this) and then at the end find their happy ending. I thought it was cute. Not quite light as it deals with kidnapping, stalkers and even some family drama. But it didn't really delve too deep into it so it wasn't emotionally draining. I liked the setting of a mansion up in the mountains of Utah. But just as it is cute, it also didn't grab me as I hoped it would. I think i'm just getting burnt out by the typical plots and flow of stories that most of my reads have. I need to spice it up in 2020.
I’ve been reading new authors lately, especially titles I can find for free on my Kindle. I’m so glad I found this title by Cami Checketts, a new author for me.
I very much enjoyed her characters and the suspense. I have to say that Brock, our hero’s 8-year-old son stole the show. As a mom who raised three sons, I can say that Checketts wrote him beautifully.
I expected to see some of the storylines continue into other books, and was a bit disappointed they wrapped up neatly at the end. But that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book. The resolution of our mystery was satisfying and there were enough red herrings that I was guessing up until the end.
I’m definitely going to find other books by Cami Checketts to read.
The clever title isn’t all that "Oh, Come On: Be Faithful" by Cami Checketts has going for it. It also has a broke but deadly efficient Army veteran in Matt Degan, a rich but distressed heiress in Mikayla Lambert, a stalker determined to send her crazy and a Christmas that needs to be saved for one particularly lovable little boy. Amusement doesn’t always go well with suspense, but here, Checketts pulls it off, as Matt and Mikayla discover an attraction that will not be denied even as their tense lead up to the holidays provides a few chuckles along the way. A very good time.
This rec appears in Romantic Intentions Quarterly #3 - October 2018
Matt had been content having a military career, and now doing security work was content with having his son, and maybe a little extra. Mikayla needed a live in boyfriend to detour the stalker she has had for four years. She reminded him of his ex wife, and mother the socialite type, and then there was his son. Her twin Sarah and her boy were living in the house also, would be a good playmate. The stalker started four years ago and her brother in law disappeared at that time. How did the note get into her bedroom. Will the pretend become something more. Nice flowing story of family and a touch of mystery
This very enjoyable book was filled with 1) mystery - I did not guess the villain, 2) romance - Myk, the down-to-earth billionairess and Matt, head of her security team were sweet and delicious together, 3) humor - the alternative versions of the traditional Christmas songs were so funny and 4) joy - young Brock brought so much joy into the lives of everyone in the book. I would love to take that dear, sweet boy home with me. Great storytelling, Cami, just perfect any time of the year. I am definitely a new fan and will certainly read more of your books!
It's another great Christmas novella filled with a lot of suspense. Matt needed a job to get by so he took the job as a bodyguard and when he walked in to the interview he felt an instant connection with Mikayla the billionaire heiress. Matt's son is adorable and I loved his funny personality and the interaction between he, Matt and Mikayla is great. If you love steamy but clean romance this book has just that. The chemistry between Mikayla and Matt is heart stopping. The ending was not what I imagined which always makes for a fabulous read.
So after reading a young adult adventure fantasy, this sweet, clean intriguing romance hit just the right notes to satisfy my romantic heart. I actually felt like I was watching a movie from the Hallmark channel. Cami Checketts is a new to me author. Her story flowed smoothly and kept a steady pace. It is heavy on the romance with a dash of intrigue; the kind of book I call a "cozy romance." I'll be reading more from this author in the future.
This sweet holiday read will keep you toasty on a cold winter night. The chemistry between the characters is instant and sweetly hot. The side characters where cute and endearing. The storyline, while not original, was intriguing and held my attention throughout the book. I think this book would appeal to any young adult and older. The romance scenes are moderate kissing, but nothing more. A minor fight scene with a little blood wound. All around feel good story.
I haven't read many books about fabulously wealthy people, but this was the least cringy of the ones I have read. The heroine was practical, down to earth, and not flinging money around to solve problems. In fact, the main characters were pretty likable. There were some eye-rolling moments with a few obvious ploys to try to create some "clean steam" between the couple. Seriously, their getting to know each other as people was much more enjoyable than the physical chemistry moments. The relationship also got way serious way fast ("marry in haste, repent at leisure," anyone?).
Mikela is a wealthy young woman who has been bothered by a stalker for four years. Matt is an Army vet in need of a job since his ex-wife depleted his bank account and abandoned their son.
Matt is hired as Mikela's bodyguard/boyfriend/head of security in hopes that he can catch the stalker. A real relationship was NOT in the cards for either of them but fate has a funny way of stepping in.
I love how Mik hasn't forgotten to be humble. Needing a bodyguard never before has produced such an amazing man like Matt before. The who dunnit wasn't who I thought it was.
Brock, however, stole the show. From rewriting Christmas carols to taking life head on, this little boy is Awesome! I've been singing his version even a day after finishing the book.
This has just enough of everything to have you wish for more at the end ~
