I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very sweet love story that not only spans the time of history, but in current times as well.

Sam meets his online girlfriend Alexia, only to be told that she's a vampire. While Sam doesn't exactly believe her, she shows him her journal where she shares her journies with Sam from the very beginning of her life as a vampire. As he reads, Sam isn't sure what to make of her writings but knows that he loves her.

I like how the story flips back and forth between Alexia's journal entries and Sam's opinions and thoughts about what he's read and sharing of those thoughts with Alexia. I found this to be a unique way to share her story and to get to see how Sam handles everything.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

The good: The story is compelling. It starts slow and builds to where, in the latter half of the book, I didn't want to put it down. The format the author chose, using Alexia's journal to reveal her life as a vampire is interesting. Sam's initial response to her revelation is a nice juxtaposition of his fear and love. His confusion at learning a terrible secret about someone we love is one we can all relate to.
There are some great lines in the story, and the author captures basic elements of the human condition not many authors bother to include on the page. He has good instincts and really found his stride in the latter half.

The not-so-good: The book left me with an overall feeling it could use one more pass to polish out the tarnished bits, primarily in the first half. While I enjoyed the story, it did not meet the high expectations set by the book's description and other reviews.
