Makoto Amano wants to become an actor, but his stern father has decreed that the only way Makoto can pursue his dream is to spend the last two years of high school as a girl! He quickly makes friends with popular tomboy Ito Miura, another drama enthusiast at this new high school and the only student to find out his secret--but are they more than pals?
Family ties deepen when Makoto's sister Akane invites Ito's brother Yûto to a fireworks display--could another romance be about to explode? And now, with just seven months left until graduation, Makoto's acting ambition is threatened again. His father, becoming increasingly desperate to ensure that his son return home to inherit the family dojo, enlists the aid of Makoto's arranged fiancée Takayo and her devious brother. Will they succeed in thwarting Makoto's dream?
I love this gender-bender, funny, romantic, a little paranormal manga.
Ito Miura is a tomboyish girl whose looks and attitude makes her easily mistaken for a boy. As a member of the drama club she always play male roles. Soon she meets the new transfer student Makoto who is a beautiful girl, who is really a guy in disguise. Makoto has made a deal with his father, to be able to follow his dream of becoming an actor, he must attend high school as a girl and nobody must know. So when Ito finds out the secret by accident she swears she won't tell. This starts their weird friendship that soon turns into a strong bond...love...
Throughout the story there were a lot of love stories that come into play as examples which the witness and strength their love.
i would say that there was character development here, but i really don't think so. no one really "develops," just yuto's thought process and slight personality quark get revealed. so i guess technically, that is character development. but no one really grows and changes, well except for yuto. and another thing, two meetings and one date and he's in love? what?! someone that closed-off and guarded would take at least two dates to fall in love. i can admit that he could admit an attraction to akane, but i think my point has been made.
As usual, great stories! Things were getting a little redundant in the previous volumes, but I felt that the manga-ka picked her characters and story up off the ground, dusted them off, and took a good long look at them, asking herself: "What can I do with you all? Where are you all going?" Two-thumbs up! ^_^
